First I want to say thank you for all the nice messages and positive feeedback I am receiving about the race!
So the account “Emmaleigh” was a little bored with the site and busy with real life. I barely logged on but I was told of this “Jubbzy black race thing” which really interested me! It sounded like a challenge that I was definitely up for. Often, people give me shit for doing well due to my “status” and “popularity” which I have always felt was not the case. I work hard in all games I play and usually do not join with premades. I felt this race would allow me to prove just that.
Jubbzys blogs stated who was in the race and gave karma updates which I hated, haha. I tried to fly under the radar so there was not a target on my back. Within the first week, some racers stated who they were and quickly joined numerous games but I thought the slow and steady pace would work best (as did Aduro). So, for the first week I had 0 karma when others already had 15. I figured for all the racers who stated who they were would shortly become a target because they were known racers and it appears that is what happened. The early front runners fell behind. It was only 3 days ago where everyone started to think Ahava was Emmaleigh. My skype and my tengaged inbox were bombarded! I tried to deny it or ignore it but if you had an inclination it was maybe obvious. Luckily I had Hack trying to be me which took some attention off of Ahava!
Anyway, being a newer member is hard! Most people dismiss you, do not pay attention to you, take advantage of you, skip your blogs (when you really need t’s) etc. If you want to be a newer successful member, you have to fight hard which I do not think most “newbs” would do. They would most likely get fed up and leave. In rookies, people would take advantage of you and there is almost no hope in doing well because usually it is a battle of 2 premades. Obviously with me knowing what a premade is, I knew how to “try” to deal with it but real new players would not. You try to get in with both sides, so as each one gets hoh you’re safe regardless as they knock each other out. I have such respect for newer rookie players, and guys please try to take at least 1 “newb” to final 4 :) It will instill their hope in the game and probably make them very happy. It would probably also help the tengaged community grow even more so! Also plus and comment on their blogs please!
Beside the negative aspect of being a newb, there are some individuals who are AMAZING! Most notable nicest “vet” to Ahava was Schmooboy! Emmaleigh didn’t really know Schmooboy but she has seen him around. He was so helpful. He helped out Ahava so much and consoled her when she was pissed about getting out of her first rookies game. He educated her on premades and was more than happy to help her out. I started getting to know him and it crossed my mind if I would wind up hurting him at the end. I did not want him to think I lied to him or deceived him happen because I have gained so much respect for him and genuinely enjoyed his company. Luckily he was not and he is still amazing! Ianfritz was also such a sweetheart to Ahava. He tried helping her out and was such a positive personality! Emmaleigh is friends with Ian but never saw that helpful, sweet side to him haha. Other notables that went out of their way to Ahava were Candaceglam, realityfreek, Tymu888, straspytlicek, shayybayy and bb5lover.
There was a game where I knew if I had said I was Emmaleigh I would not have been evicted, but to me that was not the point of this challenge/race. I wanted to depend on my brain and strategy. In this game http://www.tengaged.com/game/35460 I knew if I told King Mac who I was I would have been safe but I did not resort to that. Also Zmilner who took advantage of Ahava the newb also looks up and likes Emmaleigh but he evicted me and lied to me. Another player who loves Emmaleigh and was rude to Ahava was Johneh. After finding out he was in 2 alliances, we evicted him he said to Ahava,
[7/7/2011 1:46:29 PM] Johneh: you're a fucking nobody!
I know he would never say that to Emmaleigh. This just reinforces that people think newbs are less intelligent and less significant than them but you no idea people’s backgrounds. For all they knew I could have been a rocket scientist or a celebrity behind my avatar. Do not disrespect players if you have nothing to base your judgment on. If I did something dumb or rude in the past maybe that comment would have been warranted but I never displayed dumb behavior or met him and I certainly may be somebody. Everybody is somebody.
One of Ahava’s favorite and hardest games was a game she joined against a 7 man premade http://www.tengaged.com/game/35649. Akomes was the leader and was after Ahava but she won the first POV and decided to stall due to her -4s. Anyway I finally decided to use it and wound up getting HOH! This led to Akomes being nommed and being evicted 7-1 even with his premade present. He got himself banned after that display of embarrassment. Some of us in that game than reorganized and made a new alliance. My favorite part of that game is when Akomes told Ahava to get a life (while she was stalling) and then stated by Akomes 0 min ago
sorry sean, but i refused to go out with friends tonight to stay home and play a couple of games...and now i am at home and i have nothing to do
Akomes was another one that liked Emmaleigh and rude to Ahava.
I found it ironic that I became friends with people that Emmaleigh was not friends with (ie NexusCain) and actually did not get along with people that Emmaleigh does like (ie PinkKitten). It was so refreshing getting a new look at the site. I am sad this is over. It was such a positive experience for me, proving that you don’t need status to do well.
I want to thank Jubbzy for organzing this, it was a BRILLIANT idea. I apologize to anyone if they felt deceived if I lied about my identity. I know I have so much more to say about this experience and I feel like I am leaving so much out! Also if you have any questions for me/ahava about this experience feel free to ask and I will blog/vlog answers.
*totally understand if you do not read this, it is damn long*
I still can't believe you're emmaleigh! You were SOOO sweet, and I've never really talked to you to know that you were that sweet and kind before. I'm honestly shocked TBH. You were so sweet to me in the game we were in with the Blazing Aces and we made final 2! <33
Definately talk to me on Emmaleigh, now that I know you I absolutely love you LOL.
Loves my shoutout - this is so true of me though!
This just proves how veterans on this site just mistreat and overlook lover levels. I do regret making that comment, (especially now emily has ignored my multiple mails), but it does say a lot about me and I'm happy that she flagged this up!
I hope this also sends a message out to other players as well.
Congrats Emily!
Awesome vlog :). I totally agree. Being comforting and welcoming to lower levels, especially in rookies, is crucial to helping them enjoy the site and I try to go out of my way to do that. Hope this makes a difference and great job :)
Awww I loved reading this! Loves my shout out :D
It's so interesting how your noob experience was so different, I think you did a great thing pretending to just be a noob :) I loved Ahava so I'm thinking I'll probably love Emmaleigh too <33
i knew who u were from the first game we played together but it was definitely an experience. I did it to get myself interested in the site again but it didnt work really :/ Anyways grats on the win
Just read the whole blog, what a amazing in site from a HOF player to a player everyone thought of as `new`, I think there was a more meaningful experience besides getting black, and i think you found it. Congrats on the win, u definitely deserve it :)
I adore this blog <3 You rocked it QUEEN <3
The truth is that some people are only nice to higher levels because they think their is a gain to that. Others however are genuinely nice and helpful. I can't say I could of did what you did because I know I would fail <3
Hi.
I read this whole blog, and as I've had 3 accounts where I've tried to get away with being a newbie, I know what you mean. Especially here, I used to know if I told people I was pinacolada I'd be safe, but yeah I tried to hide it.
:) I respect you sososososo much.
i read and i really enjoyed it. you are completely right about people taking advantage of noobs. its very disheartening for them and i think we have all been in their place. thats why i take such a stand against premades.
