Episode Five: "Fei"

Fei's corpse is left within the center of her Quarters, Empress Raine hustling across the the floor, kicking up dust with every pace. Her friend, Lauren takes a small sheet that covers her bed and uses it to cover Fei, resting her had up Fei's cheek.

Lauren: "Goodbye" she whispers in great sadness, slowly covering Fei's head.
Prince Olyver: "Who could've done such a thing?!" Olyver formidably questions as she turns to the people in the room.
Jeremy: "Olyver, we mustn't place blame" he pleads, taking Olyver's side to calm him to which Empress Raine takes notice too.

Marcus ganders down to a broken Randall who sits against the fractured walls of the Ruins, seeing his solemn posture with a smug look of loathing placed upon his stern face.
However, no words are exchanged between the two as Empress Raine employs for answers, beckoning upon the Group in exchange for words.

Empress Raine: "Who was the dear girl left with? Where's the other girl! I sent her to deliver her food, she can't have lost herself?" Raine insists, her voice churning over repeated topics.
Lauren: "No . . . No, it wouldn't have been Hali. She's our friend!" Lauren insists, Randall shaking his head.
Empress Raine: "I see no other alternative, we were all within the feast when it occurred. Were we not?" Raine questions, this time Lauren remains quiet.

As blame is pointed to Hali by Raine, Randall's eyes glimmer with darkness as his fists clench.

Prince Olyver: "Randall, did you see Miss Hali upon your travels here?" he bodes, no response coming from Randall who steadily rises.

He turns to Marcus who glares with empowerment, Randall ignoring the group completely as he begins to make his exit from the room, presumably in search for Hali.

Lauren: "Randall?" She calls out in great concern.
Empress Raine: "Boy, come back here" Her voice becoming grovelled, turning to the door.

The group all stand above Fei's corpse as Randall makes his exit.

::Flashback::

Within the confides of the sacred walls where Prisoners rest in the sealed cities of Ellesm茅ra, a door opens. A blast of sunlight and a gust of wind encases the dungeons in bitter air as few sturdy shoes rest upon the dirt of the ground. Her angelic hair rests upon her shoulders, turning back with a bold face as she beckons the guards.

Fei: "Thank you! I appreci-" She is soon cut short, the doors sealing her inside the Dungeons with food to deliver.

Fei's eyes gander, taken back by her interruption. She turns once more. Gazing again across the long corridors as a smile reforms. She pulls off a small sealed container to present five assorted dishes of broth.

Prisoner: "My, My Miss Fei, you get more gorgeous by the day!" an elderly man idolizes, a snug Fei bowing her head silently as she slides the dish under his cell door.
Fei: "Thank you, Mr. Burley. You always are the generous one" she shares appreciation.

Before continuing however, the elderly man reaches for her hand to which Fei rejects.

Fei: "Thank you. Sir" she firmly states, standing once more as she regains her composure before departing the prisoner and continuing forward.

Fei's eyes turn to each empty cell, repeating her process to each Prisoner of the King's Keep, sliding each meal to each sealed inmate. However, upon her remaining two she pauses, seeing a weltered woman within the Cell. She smiles softly. Her grace shining high as she lowers herself to push the broth inside.

Fei: "Here you go, Miss. A Fine Broth will give you Warmth" she smiles boldly before setting off.

However, she is soon paused once again when the woman emerges from the shadows, Iris' fiery locks split into two parts as she crawls towards the Cell Door.

Iris: "Thank you . . ." she whispers "You're ever so Kind" a frail Iris speaks once more, thus being soon after her captivity by Queen Jennifer and King Noah.
Fei: "It's my pleasure, I heard they had a new prisoner, they speak of tales and magic, beasts and fables" Fei laughs unknowingly.

Iris' head lowers as she breaks apart chunks of her bread, Fei's words going through her mind.

Fei: "Don't let me interrupt you" she becomes ashamed, concerned that she's becoming forceful in conversation.
Iris: "Wait . . . Stay, please" Iris pleads, allowing for Fei to sit as they exchange a brief smile.

Fei lowers herself, placing her empty tray beside her as she breaks into delight.

Fei: "I'm sorry, it's just that they find me to be forceful and annoying. The other Maidens tell me to remain quiet and don't make relations with the Prisoners but I don't see why, why we can't speak to you. Why we are left to believe . . ." she halts herself, forcing herself to stop.
Iris: "Believe what?" she asks timidly, placing the bread down into her bowl.
Fei: "That you're someone of great harm, someone who is meant to hurt us"
Iris: "And if I were to be?"
Fei: "Then . . . I don't know, you haven't harmed anyone as of such so why should we fear you?" Fei wanders, Iris smiling with slight delight.
Iris: "I have a power, something people don't understand and they fear it . . . I am thankful for people like you who can see the good in who I am"
Fei: "I just don't think they like me that much" her sadness is soon apparent as Iris leans forward.
Iris: "Who?"
Fei: "Them, The King, Lady Chandler, My Friends"
Iris: "Why do you say that?" Iris esquires.
Fei: "I just find friends in people like you because . . . up there, they all think I'm worthless. That I'm nothing. I'm not as smart as my Lady Chandler, not as powerful as our King Noah and not as beautiful as Queen Jennifer. They make fun of me because I don't understand the things they do, they mock me for the things I can't do . . . I'm tired of living this life. Please just tell me things can get better for me, Miss?" Fei weeps, looking for Iris to comfort her.

Iris can only smile however, knowing of future events she is sure of Fei's fate in the times to come. She breaks few words and leans out through the bars to take hold of her hand in pity.

Iris: "Everyone has a song my girl, a song that can last forever. However, all songs must come to an end but for you, you're something special. You're someone who can take her own song to new heights. It is you who will be what they desire" Iris gracefully provides, allowing Fei to bring comfort to her needs.

She sits, pondering upon Iris' words as she giggles, pushing her firm hair back as she stands once more.

Fei: "You mean it? You think I can be?!"
Iris: "I know you can" Iris boldly expresses.
Fei: "Thank you . . . Yeah, I'm going to make something of myself Miss, Thank you"she laughs with delight, taking her tray and running down the solemn corridor with grace, her few spurts of laughter being heard cascading across the halls.

Iris falls back, taking her bread once more as she glances up to the Dungeon across from her, inside Hali tugs upon her food, her head against a wall as she sinister smile grows with madness.

Hali: "All Songs must come to an End" she bellows out, Iris' eyes slowly drifting away with resentment for her fellow Prisoner, knowing of the fates of Fei and those in Ellesm茅ra.

::End of Flashback::

--Act Two--

::Flashback::

Many years prior, Fei and Hali work alongside eachother. They aid in the daily chores whilst they await for King Noah and Queen Mira to arrive from their travels to the neighboring cities. The two girls chuckle alongside their other companions as they dress the Hall's, fit for royalty.

Fei: "I was going to see the world!" Fei calls out with great satisfaction.
Hali: "Oh Really, a Hand-Maiden travelling, did you inhale the fumes from the cleaning earlier?" Hali chuckles.
Fei: "I'm serious!" She insists on being correct as the two approach Lady Chandler's Quarters.

They push inside, three other Maidens alongside them as they begin to dress the room accordingly.

Hali: "Fei, we're in the King's Keep how can you desire much more than this?"

Fei remains still, folding Chandler's gowns as she lays them spread into piles.

Fei: "One can dream can't they?"
Hali: "Oh yes! Then you believe of what is to come, of how you'll be Queen, how I'll be serving under YOUR Reign aswell then yeah?"
Fei: (She sniggers, twitching her nose) "You never know?" she shrugs, a smile forming as she lays down another gown.

Hali chuckles once more. She walks over to her friend, throwing a small rag into Fei's arms as she points towards the piles of sorted clothing.

Hali: "How can one be Queen when you can't even assort the Lady Chandler's gowns correctly?"
Fei: "Oh . . ." she remains timid and shy as she allows Hali to interfere.
Hali: "Don't worry, I won't say anything. Just keep at it, what your doing yeah?"

Fei accepts Hali's assistance before taking the rags and approaching a stand, looking back to Hali who offers a gleeful smile to her friend.

Hali: "And enough of those tales alright? I can't be having my best friend thinking she'll be Queen over me" she sniggers, Fei chuckling alongside Hali before turning to a window, glancing down into the Courtyards with a great sadness upon her face.

::End of Flashback::

Within a cold room, Hali sits in discomfort, rocking gently upon her knee's as the lingering calls from an enraged Randall fills a sorrowful corridor.
She quietly bellows out a subtle cry, turning into music as she sings to herself.

Inside her mind, the words of Fei circulate in her head as she reminisces upon their past events.

::Flashback::

Within the scorched lands, mere days of being Exiled Fei sits beside Hali who remains still and quiet. Her breath remains thin whilst Fei takes her hand.

Fei: "Don't let me go" she ponders, turning to her friend who remains broken from her imprisonment.
Hali: "I just wanna' go home" she weeps as the others scout.
Fei: "So do I . . ." Fei ends, leaning in as they console one another.

::End of Flashback::

Hali: "Don't let me go . . . Do- Don't let me G-o-o-o" she begins to sing, enchanting herself in a parade as she spread herself across the sheets.

However, Hali soon sprouts up as the door way illuminates in a darkened shadow. Inside it, a rageful Randall lingers within it, his hand clenched across the stone that forms it.
Her voice cracks, as Randall's eyes turn to the papers within Hali's hands, belonging to Fei that she has taken.

Hali: "I- . . . It's hers" she weeps, holding up the paper to Randall who tugs on his arm, dust falling from the decaying settlements above.

Hali's voice shatters as she tries to reach out to him, however Randall forcefully snaps her arm back, the paper belongings to Fei spreading across the room as he topples over onto Hali. Her body remains crushed under his weight upon the bed, her legs frantically flying in the air as his hands rise upon his throat.
Her eyes bulge, seeing his anger and resentment for her become apparent as she finger nails claw upon his gritty skin, drawing blood as she jilts forward, squeezing harder as she desperately tries to break free.

However, during their tussle the rest of the Residents are aware of the outbreak, hearing the sounds of their attack before pacing their way to the rooms in a hurry. Lauren however falls behind as the others continue on, hearing the shocking gasps of her allies as she steadily approaches the room, pushing past the crowd in the doorway to see Randall upon the floor, his hands raw as he drips with sweat, his eyes darkened with vengeance as Lauren's head rises to the corpse of Hali who's head dangles over beside Randall, her neck raw with marks and her eyes still, several papers left across her body.
