So unlike last year I'm actually going to jump the gun, and since rehearsals are starting, it's time to really post my Eurovision rankings, and my thoughts of all the songs from this year, and now hopefully I won't have to scramble getting this out before the Live shows happen.
I also want to preface and say this edition is really strong, and there are so many good songs I really like so some of these cuts are going to painful to see, you have been warned.
ANYWAYS it's time to release this years Eurovision opinions! Let's begin!
10th: 馃嚨馃嚬 Portugal - "Ai Cora莽茫o" by Mimicat
Now we're on the top 10, and starting off we're going to a country that previously topped my rankings last year, Portugal! Now it was hard to top Maro's song from last year but oh boy Portugal really did try to get high in my rankings. I'm a sucker for classic sounding ballroom flamenco style songs, and this one is no exception. I just loved the vibes Mimicat brings to this song, and it just makes me want to do a flamenco even though I have no idea how to but god dammit I sure want to try. It's just a fun song that I can't help but move to and have fun with. Portugal always brings it in Eurovision, and I'm glad they were still able to land a top 10 position within my rankings this year, because this is one country I always want more from and can't wait to see what they deliver.
9th: 馃嚪馃嚧 Romania - "D.G.T. (Off and On)" by Theodor Andrei
Now this is going to be honestly my most controversial take next to putting Spain second last but honestly here me out. I know the staging is a mess, and I know the rehearsal clip is a mess as well, I also know this song is not going to qualify in any way shape or form, however I just can't help myself and love this song. Just the absolute grunge vibes that this song gives, and Theodor's vocals are just absolutely outstanding. I just love everything about the song, and how it both in English and in Romanian is also a really good plus as well. This song is probably this year's guilty pleasure for me because I just really do enjoy it. Had this had such a better staging then the vision Theodor tried to take I think it would be a better sell to an audience, but I feel Theodor tries to be too sexy which... I don't feel this song is sexy. Still I really enjoy the song, and I just get chills at his rasp he provides. It may not be everyone's favorite, but it sure deserves to be in my top 10 at least so here it is.
8th: 馃嚦馃嚧 Norway - "Queen Of Kings" by Alessandra
First I want to say how fun and sweet Alessandra is, and I'm happy she's getting all the recognition because she's such an amazing person. The song is a woman empowering song that you would find almost every Eurovision, and honestly I'm not complaining because this song is just SUCH a bop. Like sure it's an easy pick for a lot of people, but it's really friendly for everyone, and it's just a party jam. This was honestly a perfect pick to open up the the whole Eurovision live shows because it just gets everyone on their feet to dance and just have fun. I just really hope she can hit the whistle note because if she doesn't... that might be a yikes moment.
