So unlike last year I'm actually going to jump the gun, and since rehearsals are starting, it's time to really post my Eurovision rankings, and my thoughts of all the songs from this year, and now hopefully I won't have to scramble getting this out before the Live shows happen.
I also want to preface and say this edition is really strong, and there are so many good songs I really like so some of these cuts are going to painful to see, you have been warned.
ANYWAYS it's time to release this years Eurovision opinions! Let's begin!
19th: 馃嚠馃嚬 Italy - "Due Vite" by Marco Mengoni
This was originally lower on my rankings because the song was alright, but then Marco really pulled through with the revamp in order to make the song fit the rules of Eurovision. I especially love the fast speaking parts of the song, like sure it's a ballad, but something about this ballad really speaks to me even if I barely speak any Italian. Overall the song really improved in the revamp and it went from lower end of the rankings to the 19th so I think it's a really fun ballad. Though I do wish other songs won the national final, it's nice to see Italy do what they do best and send beautiful ballads.
18th: 馃嚠馃嚫 Iceland - "Power" by Dilj谩
Originally this placed higher in my rankings, but upon listening it a few times, this song goes on for so long, and it can get really repetitive. Don't get me wrong I really enjoy the song, and I love her energy, plus her voice is really amazing especially with the rasp she has. However it goes on forever for a song that's only supposed to be around 3:20. It's super repetitive, and I think I needed to cut it now instead of waiting until later to cut it. It's a fun song, but I do know the repetitive can kill it especially for song that seems very strong and empowering. Overall a really nice song though, have nothing really else to say about it.
17th: 馃嚫馃嚠 Slovenia - "Carpe Diem" by Joker Out
So this song is definitely warming up to me, but at the end of the day it's one of those songs I have a hard time getting or understanding properly. I know a lot of people love this song, and it's sorta one of those cult following songs, but in my opinion it's nothing to really sneeze at. I do admit the charisma of these guys are amazing, and their stage presence is really strong, I'm just having a hard time connecting to the song, and if I struggle to connect to the song I tend to lose interest in the song. Like literally on my first listen I was just genuine confused because I didn't understand the hype, and I still really don't but hey it's still a strong song, and I'm gonna place it here because it sure is better than the rest.
