SURVIVOR: REALITY SHOWDOWN Episode 4

imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: The tribes were swapped and immediately, Jeremy was worried about being separated from Michele. “I need to make sure I win with this new Amazing Race team or I will go home quick,” he said. When he got to the camp, he and Janet agreed to work together and Jeremy was immediately approached by James. “As a winner on my show, I want to keep the big threats together,” James said. Jeremy didn’t 100% trust James, but was willing to do whatever it took to stay alive. Meanwhile, Jamal started looking for an idol, knowing that Janet and Jeremy both had experience doing so. “I want these Survivor players gone,” Jamal said, “so I need to search hard for an idol.” He had Becca cover his back, but Becca was upset that Jamal was looking for an idol and not letting her look with him. “I don’t want Jamal to take all the glory for this,” Becca said, and instead decided to look for the idol herself. Little did both of them know, but James found the idol that morning, and was sharing it with both Claire and Hung as a way to earn trust. “If we can rope in Jeremy and Janet,” James said, “we can be dominant in this game.” Claire saw this as a new life in this game.
At the Blue camp, Lauren and Michele immediately approached Danielle, Alyssa, and Tiffany, wanting to work with the women. “I think it makes sense to keep us strong,” Michele said. Alyssa was excited, seeing how much of a majority they had, and told Derek that Michele and Lauren wanted to work with them. Derek was nervous since he was being roped into an alliance with all women, and he felt that leaving Tyler and Cody on the outs was risky for the tribe’s overall strength. “If we lose,” Derek said, “I feel more comfortable taking a shot at one of the new girls rather than one of our two strong jocks.”

At the Challenge, the tribes had to compete in an eating completion. First was Alyssa vs. Claire, two people who felt underestimated by their tribes. Alyssa was able to finish first, getting the point for Blue. Tyler was next against Jamal, and Jamal ended up getting the point for Yellow. Next was Michele vs. Hung, where Michele dominated. Janet evened the playing field against Lauren, tying up the score. Next was Tiffany vs. Becca, to where Becca easily finished her food first, putting the Yellow tribe up 3-2. Cody hoped to even the score against Jeremy, but Jeremy’s experience proved too strong and Yellow went up 4-2. One more point for yellow would win it, and it was up to James to take on Derek, and James ended up getting the fifth and final point for Yellow, winning immunity.

Blue went back to camp, and immediately, Tyler and Cody noticed that the girls seemed inseparable. “Here’s the thing” Cody said, “with your idol, all we need to do is put all our votes on one of the girls and hope they don’t all split the vote.” Tyler pulled Derek aside and tried getting him to tell the girls to put all their votes on Tyler so he could play the idol and blindside one of the girls. “Which girl do you have in mind?” Derek asked. Tyler told him it was smartest to take out one of the Survivors, and figured Lauren was the weakest. Derek had a lot to think about. The girls, meanwhile, decided to split the votes. “If we have 3 votes on Tyler and 3 votes on Cody, there’s no way we lose,” Tiffany said. “We just have to make sure Derek is voting with us,” Lauren said. Lauren was nervous, knowing that she was likely one of the weaker girls. “Normally, I’d think Alyssa is the smallest, but she proved herself in the challenge, I didn’t,” Lauren said, “So I’m worried they’ll vote for me.” Tiffany pulled Derek aside and asked if he was down to vote for one of the guys, and Derek was nervous, knowing that Tyler and Cody both trusted him and they were two huge challenge assets. “Tyler and Cody both lost today,” Tiffany said, “So I don’t know how you could say they’re huge assets because you never know what the challenge will be.” Before tribal, Tyler asked Derek if the girls were voting unanimously, and Derek nodded “yes.”

At tribal council, Derek said that it was tough considering there were 5 girls and 3 guys. “They could easily pick us off,” Tyler said, “and there’s very little we could do about it.” Alyssa said that the dynamics of the tribe were so different because the Big Brother contestants hadn’t even gotten the chance to make any move or vote and they already had two new tribe-mates. After the vote, Tyler decided to play his idol, hoping the move would work. Tyler got three votes, which didn’t count (from Alyssa, Lauren, and Michele). Lauren got two votes, one from Tyler and one from Cody. Tyler expected to get the rest, but instead, Cody got two votes (from Danielle and Tiffany). This left Derek as the deciding vote, and Derek decided to vote out Cody, sealing the Big Brother winner’s fate and keeping his alliance strong. Cody and Tyler were both surprised, and Cody was upset that he didn’t get the shot to show what he was made of.
