SURVIVOR: REALITY SHOWDOWN Episode 6

imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: At camp, Claire cried at night, with Hung consoling her. “I want to quit right now,” Claire said, since Becca was very rude to her on her way out. Hung tried to inspire her to keep going and keep fighting. “The second people see you as weak,” Hung said, “that’s when they will vote you out.” At the Blue Tribe, Tyler was trying to find ways to stick around, and tried his best to make friends with people like Derek and Tiffany to show them why he was strong and valuable to the tribe. “I’m climbing trees, getting coconuts, building swings for the shelter,” Tyler said, “I’m making it 100% impossible for them to vote me out.”

At the challenge, it was revealed that both tribes would be going to tribal council and someone would win immunity on each side. The contestants had to take their place on a small pedestal and hold their arm up with a large bucket above. The Blue Tribe went first and immediately, Lauren, Michele, and Danielle fell, leaving the rest fighting it out. Derek wanted to minimize his threat level and dropped, and a mistake cost Tyler his win, sending him out as well. This left Alyssa and Tiffany, and Tiffany asked Alyssa if she could have it, and Alyssa felt confident enough to let Tiffany have it, giving Tiff immunity. For the Yellow tribe, Flight Time, Hung, Jamal, and Janet fell rather quickly, and Jeremy followed, knowing he was surprisingly well positioned. It was down to James and Claire, and Claire found this as her moment to prove herself, but ultimately she wasn’t successful and James won the challenge. Because James was up longer than Tiffany, his tribe got the reward and got to go to tribal first to then sit in on Blue’s tribal council.

At the Yellow camp, the group seemed pretty set on Flight Time. “He’s not really connected to anyone, but he doesn’t seem to be making that effort,” Jamal told Jeremy. Jeremy was a bit worried that Flight Time was a potential shield for him since he was athletic, but he again didn’t want to step on many people’s toes. Flight Time went to Hung and James and tried to get them to vote for Claire, seeing her as the weakest link after Becca’s exit, to which Hung told Claire. Claire was furious and confronted Flight Time saying “You just sealed your fate buddy.” Claire asked Janet and Jeremy if they were with her, and they reassured her they were. “She’s just so paranoid,” Janet told Jeremy, “I almost don’t know if keeping her around is good for all of us.” However, Janet knew that going against Claire would just create more drama when there didn’t need to be.

At the Blue Camp, Tyler knew he was on the outs but went to Derek to get a feel for the dynamic. Derek said that he wasn’t sure how things would play out, but he wanted to keep Tyler around. Derek talked to Tiffany, and Tiffany agreed that Tyler was too vital in challenges. “If there’s a merge, it’ll be good to get rid of Tyler, but I worry that we’ll have one or two more challenges before then and I don’t want to lose anymore,” Tiffany said. “What if we go for Michele?” Derek asked, “that way we can get out a potential challenge threat in the merge AND we’re getting out a great strategist?” Tiffany pitched the idea to Alyssa, Danielle, and Tyler who were all down. “I’m excited that I’m not the target,” Tyler said, “but at the same time, when we hit the merge, I don’t trust these other Big Brother players. I need to make the best move for me.” Tyler approached Michele and Lauren and told them both that all the other Big Brother contestants wanted Michele out. “I could’ve seen this coming,” Michele said. Michele showed Tyler her idol, solidifying trust with him, and telling him “As long as they’re unanimous, then we decide who to go home.” Lauren, Michele, and Tyler weighed the options, and knew that the trio of Tiffany-Derek-Alyssa from BB23 was super tight, and they had to take a shot at one of them to split up the trio. “Tiffany has immunity,” Michele said, “so we have to go with either Alyssa and Derek depending on who we think we can work with going forward.” Tyler knew that Derek could be swayed, and didn’t know exactly where Alyssa’s loyalties lied, but also knew that Michele and Lauren may have wanted to keep another girl around.

At the Yellow Tribal Council, James was happy to have immunity and said that the tribe dynamics seemed pretty calm since Becca went, with Flight Time being the ultimate outsider. Flight Time said how he wanted to build trust, and didn’t see why keeping a ticking time bomb like Claire around was a good thing. “I don’t see how I’m a time bomb,” Claire said, “I have been calm until people cross me, and I promise I give my all in challenges and almost won this one.” When the votes were revealed, Flight Time voted for Claire, but the rest of the votes were for Flight Time, sending Flight Time home as the 5th boot of the season. The Yellow tribe got to sit in on the Blue tribe’s tribal council.

At the Blue Tribal Council, Tyler knew that a merge could be coming and was worried for his threat level. “There are multiple options to weigh,” Tiffany said, “between keeping the tribe strong in case of another tribe challenge, but also making sure we don’t keep around someone who can beat us in the merge.” Alyssa said that this group got along so well. “Even someone like Tyler,” Alyssa said, “who was on the outs a vote or two ago is our main provider and we all get along super well.” After the vote, Michele played her idol, shocking the Big Brother contestants. “Who tipped her off?” Tiffany asked, to which Tyler tried to avoid eye contact. The first four votes from Tiffany, Alyssa, Danielle, and Derek all went toward Michele, and didn’t count. The three votes from Michelle, Lauren, and Tyler went to Alyssa, sealing her fate and sending her home. “Wow, good blindside guys,” Alyssa said. Derek was surprised, and didn’t know who to trust, while Danielle and Tiffany knew that they had to get some answers. The tribes then found out they were finally merged, now as the CBS tribe.
