SURVIVOR: HOSTS WITH THE MOST Episode 4 Jul 27, 2022
imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: Matt breathed a sigh of relief. “I was really worried about that vote flip,” Matt said, “But now that the tribes have swapped, I’m glad I made the move I did, because now I get a fresh start.” Matt talked to Jeff, pulling him aside to apologize, “The girls had me cornered and I didn’t know what do do.” Jeff forgave him, but knew that he couldn’t fully trust Matt in the long haul. Howie realized that none of his comedian alliance were on the tribe, so he decided to make a new alliance with Matt, Vanna, and Jeff. “The fact of the matter is,” Howie said, “I have no ties to Julie or Michelle, and I think it would be fun to shake up the game a bit.” Matt couldn’t believe how willing Howie was to flip so fast, but wasn’t complaining.

At the newly formed Emcee camp, Tyra, Nicole, and Padma were happy that the girls could stick together. “We have the power to run this game,” Padma said. Heidi, Phil, and RuPaul could sense how close the three women were, and realized it was going to be a bit of a split tribe. “The fact of the matter is that we’re tight, those three are tight,” RuPaul said, “So our goal is going to be to try and flip one over.” RuPaul knew that Tyra was the best bet to flip over. RuPaul approached Tyra and asked what her plans were. “I have a tight final three with those girls,” Tyra said, “but I also really want to play with you and Heidi. So Phil would be my preferred boot.” RuPaul heard her out, but also knew that Phil was probably the most physically capable on the tribe.

At the Golden Mic tribe, everyone was starting from scratch, and Ryan and Arielle were extra worried about being in the minority. “Ryan and I didn’t really trust each other,” Arielle said, “So the fact that we’re on the minority already makes me nervous.” However, Steve, Jane, and Sheri (members of the Comedian alliance) had other plans. They pulled aside Ryan and Arielle and said “Gordon is a huge threat, we’ve gotta get him out as soon as possible.” While Arielle loved the sound of that, she was also worried that getting rid of someone so strong was a mistake. Arielle approached Gordon and told him that her three tribe-mates were trying to get rid of him. Gordon was surprised, and upset, but also knew that he didn’t want to blow up the tribe dynamics so soon. “My goal this season was to not be a hot head. To take information and process it. So I will not be confronting them until it’s time,” Gordon said.

At the challenge, the tribes had to build little go karts and then race them through an obstacle track. Quickly, the Emcees fell behind with Nicole and Tyra struggling to get the go-kart parts together. For the Entertainers, Matt and Jeff quickly led their tribe to an early lead, and Gordon seemed to be pulling a lot of the weight for the Golden Mics. Phil decided that he had to try and help his tribe more and decided to take a lot of the weight himself, giving them a bit more of a chance. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and the Entertainers and Golden Mics beat them to the finish.

Back at camp, The Emcees were upset, but Tyra was confident that her conversation with RuPaul meant that everyone was on the same page to get rid of Phil. “Phil is going, no question,” Tyra told her girls Nicole and Padma. RuPaul pulled Padma aside and said “Listen, I know we have our solid three person alliances, but in all honesty, Phil is the person we need most right now for strength.” Padma acknowledged this, but didn’t really know what to do. “Do I risk sending one of my own girls home, or risk losing a stronger player with Heidi or Phil?” Padma thought about her decision and wasn’t sure. Padma talked to Tyra and asked if maybe they could switch the vote to Heidi instead of Phil, but Tyra shut it down saying “I am not going after any fashion icons.” Padma was confused, asking “Well what happens if Phil goes and we lose again?” Tyra said, “Then we may have to go for Nicole.” Padma didn’t like that one bit and talked to Nicole, telling her what Tyra said. “Tyra is definitely on a power kick, and we have to shut that down asap,” Nicole said.

At tribal council, Tyra said that it was tough since the only person on the outs was their strongest player. Phil questioned “How am I the one on the outs?” To which Tyra said “you’ll see.” RuPaul said it was a tricky dynamic with three people from each side. “We all want to play with our original tribes, but at the same time, we have to think about longevity and the overall NEW tribe dynamic.” After the vote, Tyra was confident her plan would work, except she was the only vote for Phil, and all five other votes went to Tyra, sending her packing. Tyra couldn’t believe it and left the game speechless, while RuPaul and Padma nodded to each other in understanding.

SURVIVOR: HOSTS WITH THE MOST Episode 3 Apr 15, 2022
imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: After getting votes, Vanna, Matt, Tyra, and Ryan were all nervous about their standings in the tribe. Matt went to Wayne and Ryan and said “We need to get some numbers or these girls are going to take us out.” Wayne decided to talk to Probst, while Ryan tried working on Arielle and Padma. “You can tell the boys are scrambling,” Padma said, “Since they all voted Tyra, and the girls all united together to vote out Guy.” Matt decided to apologize to Tyra and said “Let’s let bygones be bygones,” Matt said, “I think we’re going to need to stick together as two of the more vocal people on this tribe.” Tyra agreed, but was still apprehensive.

On the Emcee tribe, things were running smoothly. Gordon was cooking the best he could with the rice and beans he had at the camp. “This is much less than I’m used to,” Gordon said, “So it’s become a challenge to be adaptable and imaginative with the cooking.” Jane could see how well Gordon was winning over the tribe, but it made her nervous. “Being such a provider, I feel like we need Gordon,” Jane said, “But it also means that he’ll be really tough to beat later on.” Jane decided to talk to Howie, Steve, and Sheri and create a “comedians” alliance. “We’re all funny people,” Howie said, “We know how to keep each other’s spirits up when the going gets tough.” Meanwhile, Heidi and Julie decided to go for a walk in the jungle when Heidi saw a sliver of her tribe’s color sticking out of a tree. “Watch my back,” Heidi said, as Julie covered for her. Heidi found a clue that told her that the idol was hidden at the immunity challenge. Heidi decided to also tell Howie, asking him if he could try to distract the tribe while she got it. Howie knew this was nerve-racking and decided to ask his comedian alliance for help. “Heidi has a clue, and we need to help her find it,” he told the alliance. Steve was confused, wondering why Howie would spoil someone’s idol. “At least we have the information,” Sherri said laughing.

At the immunity challenge, the tribes had to swim through various water obstacles, diving to collect bags that they would then use to toss at 3 targets. Steve sat out for the Emcees. The teams were neck and neck, but Heidi was mostly focused on getting the idol. Little did she know that her two allies Howie and Julie weren’t the only ones helping her, since Sherri and Jane were also in the know because of what Howie said. This left only Phil, Michelle, Gordon, and RuPaul on the outs. While Gordon and RuPaul were diving for bags, Heidi reached underneath one of the obstacles and got the idol. Howie saw, and was happy. The Entertainers were struggling with their diving, with people like Tyra, Vanna, and Nicole slowing down the pack. The Emcees got to the bag tossing first, and Gordon swiftly and easy knocked the three targets, giving them the win.

Back at camp, Vanna knew she was one of the weakest on her tribe and told them they could vote her out if they wanted. Matt was elated, saying to his alliance “Well, she made it pretty freaking easy didn’t she?” The only problem was that Padma knew she needed the numbers. “I can’t believe Vanna just said that,” Padma said to Arielle, “We need Vanna in order to make this girls thing work.” The girls sat down and discussed a plan. “I know Vanna offered herself up,” Padma said, “But I’d like to try to keep these girls numbers.”

Padma told the girls that they needed to solidify their majority numbers, so they discussed potential targets for the guys. Nicole immediately suggested Jeff. “He’s the Survivor man,” Nicole said, but Padma knew that she wanted Jeff in the game as a decoy threat. To confessional, she said “I want people to believe that Jeff has an idol, so the longer I can keep him around the better.” Padma brought up the possibility of Matt, Ryan, or Wayne instead, to which Tyra responded saying “I had a good talk with Matt this morning and would like to keep him around.” Between Wayne and Ryan, Nicole said, “I know Wayne and I know he’s going to be a lot better at this game than Ryan, especially as more twists and shake-ups are added,” but Arielle interjected asking “But what if one of them has an idol?” In order to keep her idol hidden, Padma said “In that case, we should try to get one of the guys on our side and split the votes.”

Tyra went to her foe-turned-friend Matt to ask if he’d consider voting one of his allies out. “What’s in it for me?” Matt asked. Tyra didn’t know what to offer him, but did say “I can tell you that these girls are strong, and if you don’t vote with us, you’ll likely become the next target.” Matt realized he was in the minority and said “Well, it looks like these 5 girls are all sticking together, so until there’s a tribe swap, I really can’t go against that without an idol.” Matt was not sure what to do, but also knew that if he told the guys Tyra’s plan, he would dig himself into a ditch like the last tribal.

At tribal council, Probst said that it seemed fairly simple. “Vanna wanted to go home,” Jeff said, “Is it going to be that easy, or are we in for a blindside?” Tyra said that the last few days were great for healing. “The first tribal ended in some fireworks,” She said, “But I think some wounds have been healed and we’re ready to move forward as a strong unit.” Nicole said that whatever happened, she loved each and every person there. Wayne said that he wished they weren’t in the position of voting someone out. When the votes were revealed, Wayne, Jeff, and Ryan voted for Vanna, Vanna, Padma, and Arielle voted for Wayne, and Nicole and Tyra voted for Ryan. This left Matt, who flipped on his alliance to vote for Ryan and force a tie. Ryan and Wayne were shocked, asking if Jeff flipped to where Jeff said “I’m just as confused as you are brother.” On the revote, the entire group voted out Wayne, ending his journey and sending him home. “You all made a deal…breaker,” Wayne joked on his way out. Matt felt guilty for flipping, but Matt saw this as a potential opportunity to advance his game…until it was announced that the tribes would be swapping.

SURVIVOR: HOSTS WITH THE MOST Episode 2 Apr 12, 2022
imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: The new tribes hit the beach in order to start their journey on the other side of the cameras. On the Emcee tribe, Howie and Heidi connected having been on AGT as judges together. “I think being on another show with someone will surely help have a crutch in the game,” Howie said. Gordon, meanwhile, was ready to get to business building the shelter. “I know I have to lead from a physical standpoint,” Gordon said, “But I also want to be able to show that I’m not necessarily the tough guy you see on tv. I want to be approachable and an asset for this tribe.” The tribe was impressed with Gordon’s leadership skills, while RuPaul, Michelle, and Sheri made a tight alliance. “I know we may not be the biggest assets in challenges,” Michelle said, “So I want a few allies that I know I can trust closely.”

On the Entertainers tribe, people were getting acquainted quite nicely. Ryan talked about how difficult living on an island would be, while Matt’s energy seemed to stand out. “I think we have a pretty big personality tribe,” Arielle said, “From Tyra to Matt to Guy to Nicole…I think laying low may be a good strategy.” Jeff was nervous, knowing he’d be seen as the biggest threat, and wanted to go searching for an idol. “I’ve always been excited to see players find idols,” he said, “But I’ve never realized how nerve-wracking it is.” Padma saw Jeff sneak away and decided to follow. “I can’t let Jeff find this idol or he’ll have too much power,” she said, as she pulled Vanna aside. “Keep watch,” she told Vanna, in which she went into the woods and found the idol herself! Padma was excited, and shared the news with Vanna. “At this point,” Padma said, “We should keep this between us, but make it seem like Jeff found it so we can keep him around as a shield.” Padma was excited, knowing she was already off to a good start, wanting to prove that she could best Jeff at his own game.

At the challenge, the tribes got a taste for the pressure when they had to carry a giant boulder through an obstacle maze. First tribe to the end wins. Simple. Right away, Gordon and Phil led the Emcees to a strong start, with Tyra, Vanna, and Nicole slowing down the Entertainers. Jeff gave some pep talk, and they started to get the hang of it. Carrying the boulder proved tiresome for Sheri, who needed to take a breath, while RuPaul decided to start some sort of chant to help them with a rhythm. Ultimately, the Emcees got their boulder to the end faster, and celebrated their victory.

Back at camp, Vanna talked to Padma, wanting her to use the idol on her. “I know I’m one of the oldest and the weakest,” she told her, but Padma interrupted saying “I’m not going to use the idol this early, but don’t worry because I think we can pull this off.” Padma rallied up Arielle, Nicole, and Tyra to create an All-Girls alliance. “These things never work,” Padma said, “But I do have faith that we could make it happen.” Tyra was the only one who seemed unsure, knowing that she’d probably be best situation between some of the bigger personalities like Matt Iseman or Guy.

Meanwhile, Wayne saw that Ryan and Matt were going to be huge challenge assets. “I think the three of us could make magic happen,” Wayne said. The three agreed to an alliance. “As much as I’d love to see Probst go first,” Matt said, “we can’t afford to lose someone with strength and expertise in the game.” Matt decided to talk to Guy to get a gauge for how he was feeling. “I think Ryan’s gotta go first,” Guy said. “I love the guy, but I think he’s just going to win over too many people with his charm, and that’s dangerous. My second pick would be Wayne.” Matt was immediately alarmed, knowing that Wayne and Ryan were his two allies. Matt approached them to tell them that Guy was trying to go after big social threats.

Wayne decided to talk to Tyra and ask if she’d consider voting Guy, and she said was on board, except she secretly wanted to work with Guy. She used this to go to Guy and tell him that he was now a target. “Wow,” Guy said, “They really just took my words and threw them back on me.” Guy approached Wayne and Wayne said that Guy was the one throwing Wayne and Ryan’s names out first. This made Matt upset with Tyra for spilling the beans. “At this point, it’s now exposed that I was running my mouth earlier, and I can’t have that pressure on me,” Matt said, “Now I want Tyra out.”  Padma, Vanna, Arielle, and Nicole met to debate whether or not they should get rid of Tyra. “It seems like the guys want to get Tyra out now,” Padma said, “But at the same time, if we want the women to take control, we have to go after one of the guys, and I think Guy himself is the best bet.”

At tribal council, Guy said he knew he was probably in some danger, but had hoped that some bigger targets arose. Jeff said that playing the game was much harder than hosting it, and that he seemed a bit out of the loop. “For a guy who prides myself on being in the know, I feel so lost,” Jeff said. Arielle said that it was going to be a tough vote because “It seems like Tyra said something that got people upset, but maybe it also stemmed from some of the guys targeting one another.” Guy interjected saying “Apparently, after I talked to Matt about getting out Ryan or Wayne, he went to Wayne who went to Tyra, who went back to me. I think we all got a bit over-eager, and ultimately, I’m going to stick with the original plan I made.” The tribe voted, not knowing how this was going to go down. After voting, nobody played an idol. Guy voted for Ryan, his original target. Matt, Ryan, and Wayne voted for Tyra. Tyra voted for Matt. Jeff, not knowing where to put his vote, voted for Vanna. This left the four women alliance of Padma, Arielle, Nicole, and Vanna, who all voted out Guy, sending him packing and ending his journey as the first boot. Guy wished them all luck, and told Tyra “don’t forget that loose lips sink ships.”

SURVIVOR: DYNAMIC DUOS 2 Finale Part 4 (Reunion Show) Mar 23, 2022
imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: The jury got to address Kelley, Jenn, and Lauren. Stacey started, asking what Lauren did to help out around camp, and Lauren said that she knew her skills at camp-life were not going to help her, and she decided to put her attention elsewhere into making sure morale was always good and that everyone was staying well fed and happy. “I just don’t know if any of the three of you did anything that particularly blew me away, except for taking out all the bigger threats I guess,” Stacey said. Ricard was next, asking if Kelley thinks the move to flip on Ricard was what got her to the end, or if Kenny’s overplaying got her to the end. “Honestly,” Kelley said, “I do believe my move is what got me to the end. I think we would’ve gotten Ken out whether or not he made the huge move on Crystal, and I can wholeheartedly say, I was planning on going to the end with Lauren and another woman no matter what.” Ricard then asked Lauren if he thinks she or Kelley played better. Lauren said, “Honestly, I don’t really think Kelley faced as much adversity as I did since her tribe won a lot more in the pre-merge. I went to more tribals, was exiled, and I also had the ticking time bomb of an idol, which I always consider more of a blessing than a curse.” Sarah was next and asked Kelley if she should be rewarded for her overall Survivor arc, or strictly this season, and Kelley said “Obviously, my threat was way bigger than both Lauren’s and Jenn’s going into the season, so if that is what deems me a more impressive player, then please vote for me.” Sarah asked Jenn who played the best game, and Jenn responded saying “I honestly don’t think I played a perfect game, but at least I was upfront and loyal and had to fight more without an ally or partner for a majority of the time since Hali left.” Hali commended all three and said that she was going to stay loyal to her duo, but also commended Lauren and Kelley for both getting to the end. Wendell then asked Lauren who made the call to play the idol, and Lauren said that it was all her decision. “I told Kelley to look at me to check in, but it was ultimately my call to play the idol, and I was able to read the room correctly. Jenn and Christine were acting sketchy, and honestly, if Jenn had played it cooler at camp, you’d probably be sitting in the end,” she said. Wendell said he was really impressed and said “I always said I’d vote for the person responsible for taking me out, and you did it, so good job.” Shan said that she definitely had choice words for Kelley at times, but it was only because she respected her gameplay. “Why was I a unanimous vote?” she asked Jenn, and Jenn replied honestly saying “I was just doing as I was told,” in which Kelley chimed in saying “Lauren made the call to go unanimous in order to make sure nobody would flip and cause the split vote to spiral out of control.” Shan said “I respect that,” and walked away. Christine said that she was very proud of Jenn and told the jury that Jenn played it so cool that nobody ever thought to get rid of her, and asked Kelley if Jenn had lost final four immunity if she would have gone home. “I still think Kenny was the biggest threat,” Kelley said, “So I think I would’ve still tried to get him out as long as he didn’t have immunity.” Crystal was next and apologized to Lauren saying “I know that throwing that rogue vote on you sunk my game, and for that I apologize.” And then she asked if Lauren considered herself to be riding Kelley’s coattails, in which she said, “I do think you have to keep bigger threats in front of yourself, and Kelley is just a more iconic player. But in terms of the moves made, I think it was 50-50, with myself even making some huge moves such as not splitting the vote on Shan and ultimately playing the idol to get out Wendell.” Ken asked Kelley if she had anything negative to say about Lauren, and Kelley said “As a person, no. As a game player, all I can say is that the exile week was a freebie, and I do think it put my in a tough position to betray Ricard, and I do think that was a bit unfair in how it all shook out in me taking all the heat for it.” Ken then asked Jenn if she deserved his vote, and Jenn said “You told me that if I voted you out, you’d never vote for me to win, so I risked my own jury management in throwing a vote somewhere else so I could uphold that deal.” Ken respected it.

In the end, the voting turned out like this:

Stacey- Jenn
Ricard- Lauren
Sarah- Lauren
Hali- Jenn
Wendell- Lauren
Shantel- Lauren
Christine- Jenn
Crystal- Lauren
Ken-Jenn

And the winner, by a 5-4-0 vote, of SURVIVOR: DYNAMIC DUOS II is… LAUREN O’CONNELL!

FINAL PLACINGS:

20th- Chris Hammons (Millennials vs. Gen X)
19th- Malcolm Freberg (Philippines, Caramoan, Game Changers)
18th- Rick Devens (Edge of Extinction)
17th- Domenick Abbate (Ghost Island)

NEXT SEASON PREVIEW: This next season, we’re doing something very different that we’ve been saving on the back burner for a while. There are so many reality competition shows out there that require one very important element: hosting. But we’ve never actually seen what happens when you throw a bunch of hosts onto the actual shows they’re hosting. Do they stack up to the pressure, or they better left on the desk making the announcements? In our next season, we’re putting that sentiment to the test. It’s our new season, SURVIVOR: HOSTS WITH THE MOST. Let us know down below which cast members you’d like to see (and yes, Jeff Probst will be there).
