SURVIVOR: REALITY SHOWDOWN Episode 5

imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: Tyler was on the outs, having been the only person to vote for Lauren. Immediately, he went to Lauren and tried to make amends, telling her that he thought he let Cody dominate his strategy. “If I keep playing dumb,” Tyler said, “then maybe they’ll think they can use me to their advantage and try to work with me going forward.” Derek celebrated with Tiffany, Alyssa, and Danielle. “The four of us could be final four,” Tiffany said, “but in order to do that, we need to find another idol.” The four split up in the middle of the night. Michele could hear stuff rustling, and woke Lauren up to show her that they were searching for idols. “I’m suspicious that the four Big Brother players went looking for idols and didn’t tell us,” Lauren said in confessional. So Lauren and Michele went on their own path to find an idol, and both did. They celebrated and knew that this was going to come in handy, with Michele hanging onto the idol for safekeeping.

When the sun came up, there was drama in the Yellow camp as Becca was still getting frustrated at Claire and Hung’s lack of camp work, and was oddly silent to Jamal. “I can sense she doesn’t trust me,” Jamal said to Jeremy. Jeremy was shocked that everyone was spilling all their drama to him, having just made an alliance with James, Claire, Hung, and Janet the day before. “I have these four wanting to be my friend,” Jeremy said, “and Jamal and Flight Time getting increasingly irritated at Becca. The only person I am not tight with IS Becca.”

At the challenge, the tribes had to do a rolling bowling-esque game while other tribe-mates had to act as obstacles playing defense to prevent the bowling balls from knocking down pins. Tyler and Michele were the main defenders for Blue, while Jamal and Becca were the main defenders for Yellow. As the balls started rolling, Tyler and Michele beasted the competition, not letting many balls through, while Derek was a main shooter for Blue and was knocking down pins like crazy. Becca was getting increasingly frustrated with Jamal, yelling at him to “do better.” Jamal was shocked, and decided to yell back, causing much tension and giving Blue the easy victory. Tyler and Michele celebrated a dominant performance, with Tyler saying that he hoped he had won some good favor with his tribe.

At the Yellow camp, Becca stormed back into camp so mad at Jamal. “This was a team event,” Jamal said, “you can’t be mad at one person.” Jeremy, seeing this going down, went to his alliance with James, Hung, Claire, and Janet and said that it would be wise to keep the tension in the game, and maybe put their vote on Flight Time since he wasn’t really connected too close to anyone. “My only worry,” James said, “is that Becca is more of a loose cannon, and Flight Time is easier to control.” Jeremy didn’t entirely trust James, but wanted to go with the flow so he wouldn’t get any negative heat on his back. He talked to Jamal and asked if he’d be willing to vote against Becca. “At this point,” Jamal said, “I can’t align with someone who blows up after one challenge.” Becca, meanwhile, thought it was an easy decision to go for Claire. “She’s been the weakest since the beginning,” Becca told James. James knew he was aligned with Claire and laughed at Becca’s campaigning to send her home. Becca talked to Jamal, trying to put their drama past them, but Jamal was disappointed in her. “So you yell at me in front of everyone and expect me to vote with you?” Jamal asked. Becca was frustrated, but figured she still had the numbers.

At tribal council, Becca said that she had an outburst, but she felt like it was her frustration with Claire that was brushing off on Jamal. “So now it’s my fault?” Claire asked, to which Becca said “you have been weakening this tribe since day one.” Claire couldn’t believe it and asked if they could just get to the vote. Flight Time said he was worried since he didn’t really have many conversations and didn’t know exactly where the votes would lie. After the votes were made, nobody played an idol. The first vote went to Claire (from Becca), and three votes went to Becca (from Claire, Hung, and James), much to Becca’s annoyance. Flight Time voted for Janet, not really knowing where the numbers went. The last votes were from Jamal, Janet, and Jeremy. All three voted for Becca, sealing her fate. Becca was shocked asking why Jamal flipped on her, and Jamal shrugged, knowing that he had to make the move against his former friend. Becca was disappointed and just said “Claire, your days are numbered” on the way out. Hung held Claire’s hand as a way of showing her support for her closest ally.
