SURVIVOR: DYNAMIC DUOS 2 Episode 2

Dec 17, 2021 by SurvivorGames
imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: The duos all set out for their return to the adventure that is Survivor. Shan and Ricard wanted to put Shan’s blindside behind them, and hope to work together as successfully as they had on their tribe in Survivor 41. Chris and Bret were looking to put the skills they attained from the Amazing Race and use them for good. Ken and Crystal were looking forward to returning to a game they had waited so long to play again. As for the winners, Tony, Sarah, Denise, and Wendell were all nervous that they’d be threats out the gate and hoped that they would have other shields to hide behind, as did big threats like Malcolm, Wentworth, and Dom. At the opening beach, the duos were in for the first twist of the season…they would be SPLIT up on two opposing tribes. “I saw this coming,” Denise said, “It was only a matter of time. Malcolm and I have been split up before, we can survive it again.” Jenn was annoyed to be splitting from Hali, knowing that playing with Hali was one of the few reasons for enticing her to play again. Tony was also a bit nervous, saying “I know I’m the biggest threat here, and not having Sarah with me exposes me even more.” The tribes were split according to one of the greatest duos of all time: Peanut Butter and Jelly.

The tribes got to their beaches, and immediately on the Peanut Butter tribe, Tony tried making bonds with some of the more threatening players. “I want to go to Denise, to Domenick, to Shan,” he said, “All these people that were seen as huge threats when they played.” Tony rounded up the group of Dom, Denise, Shan, and also brought in Hali and Ken. “I think this is a strong unit,” Tony said “we have the physical strength, the social strength, and some secret weapons for puzzles.” Hali was worried that Tony was already hitting the ground running. “He’s reverting back to his Game Changers self, and that clearly didn’t work well for him,” Hali said. Hali pulled aside Shan and Denise and asked if they wanted to do an all-girls thing. Shan liked the idea, and wanted to pull in Lauren and Stacey. Lauren said that she also had David since they played together on Edge of Extinction. “As soon as she said that,” Denise said, “I got a bit concerned because I know how powerful these duos already are, and we have 2 duos from Edge of Extinction, so David and Lauren could essentially be their own mini duo here.”

At the Jelly beach, Wentworth connected with Rick Devens. “I think it’s obvious we should look out for each other,” Devens said. Wentworth agreed. The big threats, however, didn’t all mesh. “Sarah scares me,” Malcolm says, “So I’d like to see her go early.” Malcolm recruited Crystal, Bret, Jenn, and Christine. “I went out early in Game Changers, and I think all of our chances were cut short way too early,” Malcolm said, “I’d like this group to take off some of these big gods like Wendell or Sarah or even Ricard who just played.” The girls seemed on board, but Bret was a bit nervous only because Malcolm was just as threatening as the players he mentioned. “He’s telling me not to trust these huge threats when he could likely beat any of us in a jury vote,” Bret said.

At the immunity challenge, the tribes had to untie a series of rope knots while climbing a difficult obstacle. Once through the obstacle, they had to put together a difficult slide puzzle. Immediately, David and Ken took their places at the puzzle for PB, while Christine and Ricard went to the puzzle for Jelly. The Jelly tribe immediately took off with a strong lead, with Wendell and Malcolm leading the way, while the PB tribe was slow out the gate because of Stacey and Lauren. Eventually, the Jelly tribe got to the puzzle first and Ricard and Christine immediately started working. Once PB got to the puzzle stage, it was already a huge lead to catch up on, but David and Ken tried their best. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and Jelly won immunity.

Back at camp, the tribe reassured David and Ken it wasn’t their fault. Lauren knew that she might be in trouble for being a liability, and immediately went to the girls to make sure they were okay. “I think all the girls are okay as long as we vote together and pull in David,” Shantel said. Shantel knew that taking control could make her dangerous early on, so she wanted someone else to come up with the target. “Any ideas?” Shantel asked, trying to get someone else to make the move. “The way I look at it,” Hali said, “I think keeping the bigger threats around like Tony, Dom, and David.” Lauren said “That only leaves Kenny and Chris, and I personally don’t want to go after Kenny since I think we’ll need him for puzzles.” “Then it’s Chris,” Shantel said. The girls had to find a way to pitch Chris as the boot without giving away their women’s alliance. Knowing they were in the threats alliance, Shan, Denise, and Hali went to pitch the Chris boot to Tony, Dom, and Kenny. Dom didn’t like the idea of going for Chris this early, but Shantel tried to explain that Chris wasn’t going to be any help with puzzles and they didn’t know where he stood. “I think splitting up Lauren and David should be the first priority,” Dom said.
Immediately, Shantel was worried that Dom was throwing out both her allies names. “David and Lauren are people I likely want to work with more in the long-term than Dom or Tony,” she said, “But I have to stick with this plan to keep members of both these alliances safe.”

Dom talked to Tony, asking why the girls were so gung-ho about getting rid of Chris. “I think they have an all girls alliance,” Dom said. Tony was nervous, and went to Kenny and Chris saying that they think the girls were doing an all girls alliance. “I think we should try to get all the guys together and maybe pull in Denise to blindside one of the women,” Tony said. Tony told Chris that he was being targeted by some of the women, and Chris was immediately paranoid. “I hope it’s not me,” Chris said, “Because I have so much fight left.” The men all met up to discuss the plan, but David knew that he wasn’t going to betray the women. “I know that Lauren wants me to work with the girls, but I do worry that being the only guy in the girls alliance could be dangerous for me,” David said. “We have to get one of the girls to flip,” Dom said, “David, do you think you could get Lauren to vote for Shan?” David said he’d try his best. Tony also took it into his own hands to try and ask Denise to flip and vote for Shan. “She’s already trying to run things, and it scares me,” Tony said. Denise said she had to think about her best move. David and Lauren talked to discuss the plan. “The girls want Chris, and now the guys have an inkling of the girls alliance and want to get out Shan,” David told Lauren, “So it’s up to us whether we want to join the guys or the girls.”

At tribal council, David said that this first stage was always tricky. “Especially for me and Lauren, there is an obvious connection there from Edge of Extinction,” David said, “but the same can be said for Tony and Denise or even Chris and I who played Millennials vs. Gen X together” so I hope that this is a clean slate and the people being targeted are the ones who will most benefit the tribe if they’re voted out. Shan said it was tough because she didn’t know where she fell on people’s threat levels. “Let me lay it out for you,” Tony said, “The girls came together to get out one of the strong guys, and the guys caught on, and now we’re fighting for swing votes.” When asked whose votes were up in the air, Dom chimed in saying “I believe Lauren and David are in the middle because they are tight and I believe everyone is fighting over them.” Shan tried to explain that there was no girls alliance, and Chris chimed in saying “I’ve heard things, and I really don’t believe you Shantel.”

The vote came in, and Shantel, Stacey, and Hali voted for Chris as planned, while Tony, Kenny, Chris, and Dom voted for Shan. The next vote from Denise went for Chris with an “I’m sorry” next to it, showing her loyalty to the girls. It came down to Lauren and David, and both decided to vote out Chris, sending Chris packing and making him the first boot of Survivor: Dynamic Duos 2, with David wanting to keep the bigger threats around. The girls were happy that the plan worked, but Shantel was nervous knowing that people were already targeting her.
