SURVIVOR: DYNAMIC DUOS 2 Episode 10

imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: Seeing their alliance down a member, Hali, Jenn, Kenny, Crystal, and Christine knew they needed to make a move. “I still have my idol,” Jenn said to camera, “But if we can find another, I think that’ll be a way to put some momentum in our court.” They searched for an idol, but were unlucky in their search. Jenn was disappointed knowing that she only had one idol to protect her alliance.

At the immunity challenge, the contestants found out they’d be split in two and would compete in two styles of challenges: physical and mental. There would be one person who was not selected and would be sent to exile island and wouldn’t be able to vote in the next tribal council. “This is a huge disadvantage,” Ricard said, “Especially since we just got control of the numbers.” The rocks were chosen and Kelley, Ricard, Christine, Crystal, and Jenn got chosen to compete in the physical challenge while Hali, Shan, Kenny, Sarah, and Wendell were chosen to compete in the mental challenge. This left Lauren on the outs and sent her to exile island.

The physical competition was up first, and it was a race through a rope maze, ending with tossing 3 rings onto a ladder. Ricard and Kelley were the fastest through the maze, with Christine on their tail and Crystal and Jenn far behind. Ricard started tossing, as did Kelley, but both had some struggles. Ricard landed his first 2 by the time Christine got to the tossing and managed to toss all three of her rings back to back to back, shocking everyone and winning immunity. The mental challenge was next which was a series of three puzzles in ranging difficulty. The entire group went with the easier puzzles first, while Hali tried for the harder one first, and actually managed to get it done pretty quickly. The other four struggled to catch up, but Hali managed to fly through the next two and win immunity.

At camp, Kenny kicked himself for not being good at the puzzle. “I’m embarrassed because now I know it’ll likely be Crystal, Jenn, or myself,” he said. Kelley was worried that Lauren was gone, but Ricard, Shan, Sarah, and Wendell told her not to worry. “Worst case scenario, we go to rocks,” Wendell said, “But I don’t see someone like Kenny or Jenn wanting to risk a rock draw.” Jenn knew that she had her idol in her back pocket, but didn’t necessarily want to waste it so early. “Hali and Christine are safe, and I think they’ll be nervous I have an idol, so I think they’re putting their votes on Kenny or Crystal,” Jenn said, “The question is whether or not to ensure my safety or risk my idol and possibly go home in a rock draw.”

At Exile Island, Lauren cried knowing that she was letting her alliance down. “We finally got the numbers,” she said, “And now I can’t be there to help them.” But she knew she had to make the most of her exile experience and went searching for the idol. Lauren went through the jungle and ocean, until she realized it could be buried on the beach. She dug and dug for a few hours. “I can’t give up because this could be my do or die,” she said, and she found the idol. “I am so proud of myself and know my family is proud too.” She also knew this could help her and Kelley further in the game.

Before the vote, Kenny knew he had to hustle. “Nobody’s going to vote for Jenn after playing the idol,” he said, “And I know they’re not gonna waste their vote on Crystal, which means unless I can figure something out, it may be me going home if they play an idol.” Kenny decided to approach Kelley since she was without her duo. “I think we could work together,” Kenny said, “And if you vote with us, Crystal has agreed that the four of us—Lauren, Kelley, Crystal, and Ken—would be final four without a doubt.” Kelley asked who they wanted to target and Kenny suggested Ricard. “He’s come in second place in two challenges and has been very prominent in the pre-merge and I think he’s the biggest threat right now,” Kenny said. Kelley said she’d consider it, and told the camera, “I know Ricard is a huge threat and I also know that there’s a possibility we could go to rocks tonight and I really don’t want to have to go to rocks,” she said.

At tribal council, Shan said that the dynamic was complicated now since Lauren wasn’t at tribal council and the numbers were back to 5 vs 5. Kenny said that he was certainly worried for him and Crystal. “Hali and Christine won immunity and Jenn has shown to be very idol savvy,” Ken said, “So tonight could very well be my last night.” Ricard said that the game gets progressively harder as it goes along and he really just wish Lauren could’ve been there. “We put in so much hard work to get all the way here,” he said, “And it sucks that we could end up having a rock draw because our 6th isn’t here.”

After the vote, Jenn decided to stay put and nobody else stood to play an idol. The first five votes went to Ricard with Kenny, Christine, Hali, Crystal, and Jenn all sticking to the plan. The four votes from Ricard, Shan, Wendell, and Sarah went to Kenny. It was down to Wentworth, who decided to stick with her alliance and vote Kenny. It was a tie and they went to revote. Everyone was worried about a potential rock draw and knew that they had the potential to flip the vote or send things into mayhem. On the revote, Christine, Hali, Crystal, and Jenn once again voted Ricard while Shan, Wendell, and Sarah once again voted Kenny. This left it up to Wentworth yet again, and she decided to flip and vote out Ricard, shocking her alliance. “Who flipped?” Ricard asked, to where everyone stayed silent. Ricard shrugged saying “If I flipped, I’d own the move,” to which Kelley responded, “Ricard, I couldn’t put my fate in rocks.” Ricard nodded, appreciating the move, and Shan looked devastated knowing that she had lost the power.
