SURVIVOR: DYNAMIC DUOS 2 Episode 9

Dec 28, 2021 by SurvivorGames
imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: The tribes merged, and many duos reconciled. Kelley and Lauren were excited to work together, knowing that not having Devens or David was going to help their game. Shan and Ricard embraced but also knew that they would have to manage their threat level since they both were fairly fresh, new players and Ricard just had his epic fire-making moment. Crystal told Kenny how difficult it had been for her, and he reciprocated, saying he had her back. “We can’t really trust Sarah or Ricard, so stay with me and you’ll be okay,” Ken said. Jenn and Hali were also excited to be together, with Hali feeling like she finally had good positioning in the game having sided with Stacey and Christine. Sarah and Wendell were the only two without a duo and bonded over it. “It’s so difficult to be out here knowing I don’t have the same support system as everyone else,” Wendell said, “Since Dom was my buddy and I really wanted to play with him as much as I was scared of his abilities in this game.” Sarah told Wendell she’d take care of him if he took care of her. “I’ve got your back,” Sarah said.

Jenn knew that there was a possibility another idol was hidden. “I know that I was able to find the first one,” she said, “Why not see if there’s something here.” Sure enough, she found another one, and celebrated, knowing she had two idols in her possession. “I can use this one to protect me, and the other one to save for later,” Jenn said, “and as much as I love Hali, this one is going to be a complete secret because I’m actually trying to win this time.” Jenn reflected on her experience from last time, knowing she had given up, and wanted to try harder this time to actually make an impression and go for the money and not give up. Jenn and Hali bonded with Stacey and Christine, wanting a woman to win it all, and hoped to also rope in Kenny and Crystal because Ken was on the outs and Crystal and Christine had finally patched things up.

Ricard and Shan both met up with Sarah and Wendell to create a four-person alliance. “Ricard and I worked together in the last vote and Wendell and Shan seem close,” Sarah said, “So this makes sense.” “I do want to rope in one more duo to complete a six-person army,” Ricard said. They knew that it was unlikely Ken would want to work with Sarah and Ricard after the last vote. “I think we could work on Wentworth and Lauren,” Wendell said. Wendell approached Lauren and Kelley to pitch the alliance, and both of them were on board. “Hali, Stacey, and Christine flipped on me,” Lauren said, “So I’d love to try and take one of them out, plus I’m with two winners, two very new players, and a Wentworth so I feel like I”m really well covered on all sides.”

At the immunity challenge, the contestants had to balance on a pedestal holding a ball on a disc. Immediately, Stacey, Ken, Crystal, and Lauren dropped, followed a few minutes later by Shan, Jenn, and Wentworth. This left Ricard, Wendell, Hali, Sarah, and Christine. Hali was out next, and Wendell dropped after that to minimize his threat level. Next was Christine, leaving Ricard and Sarah. Ricard’s ball was on the move, but Sarah’s began swaying as well. Both balls slipped off the disc, but it was Ricard’s that hit the ground first, giving Sarah the victory in a photo finish.

Back at camp, Kenny expressed to his alliance that he was really worried about Ricard. “He almost won today, he won that epic fire-making challenge,” he said, “I just don’t want him around much longer.” It was very clear that the vote was shaping up to be 6 vs. 6. “It seems that Ricard and Shan have been spending lots of time with both Wendell, Sarah, and the Edge of Extinction girls,” Hali said, “While Jenn and I have been spending lots of time with Stacey, Christine, and the Gabon friends.” The 6 of them decided on Ricard. Later that day, Crystal went looking through Ricard’s bag to see if he had an idol, and noticed a piece of paper that may have been the idol parchment. Ricard caught her and asked her why she was looking through his stuff. “Because nobody trusts you Ricard,” Crystal put it bluntly.

Ricard talked to his alliance and said that Crystal was rummaging through the bag. “I’d love to take her out,” he said, but Shan thought it might be too early. “I just don’t think Crystal can win the game with how many bonds she’s already broken and attempted to repair,” Shan said, “I think we should go for one of the savvier players like Hali.” The alliance settled on Hali, but Sarah got an inkling that Hali may have an idol. “She’s the only person from that side that has played more than once,” Sarah said, “If there’s anyone who may pull an idol it’s Hali.” Sarah asked her alliance if they wanted to instead put the votes on somebody who may not have an idol. “I think our best bet is Jenn,” Wentworth said, “If she was finding any idols, she wouldn’t be as pessimistic as she is.” Just to be safe, Wendell recommended splitting the vote. “Why don’t we also throw some votes on Stacey just in case,” Wendell said, “Because if Hali does have an idol, she could play it on Jenn.” The alliance wasn’t sure whether or not they should go all in on Jenn or split the vote, and had trouble coming to a consensus.

Crystal told her alliance of 6 about Ricard’s idol, and Kenny wasn’t convinced it was real. “If it was real, there’s no way he wouldn’t have played it at the last tribal,” Kenny said. “But what if he just thought he was super safe?” Hali asked. The alliance was torn and Christine recommended throwing votes on both Shan and Ricard. “The other alliance is probably weighing the same problem since there’s 6 of us and 6 of them and idols are very likely,” Christine said, “If Ricard does in fact have an idol, then there will be a three-way tie between whoever they split between and Shan, and I do think we could potentially push for two of them to flip if that’s the case.” Jenn didn’t like that, and instead decided to try to figure out who the other alliance was voting for so she could use her idol too.

At tribal council, Jenn said that it was probably the most hectic it’s ever been. “It is clear there are two sides of 6, but with idols in the air, you can’t risk putting all 6 of your votes on the same person,” she said, “So that’s where it gets really tricky.” Ricard said that Crystal was looking through his bag and said “Obviously they’re gonna think I have an idol, it’s just a matter of whether or not I do and if this is the time to play it if they’re right.” Crystal said that it was hard for her to keep up with the fast paced game, but she was just going to follow her plan. After the vote, everyone was nervous and didn’t know what was going to happen. Ricard stood up and said “I know that they’re likely going to put votes on me because they think I have an idol, so I may as well play mine to clear the air.” Immediately after that, Shan said “I’m pretty sure if they were going to split votes, they were going to split them between me and Ricard, so I’d like to play this as well.” With Shan and Ricard both playing idols, the other side realized they had made a mistake. “We shouldn’t have been so obvious,” Jenn said, “But I”m not going to take the fall for it,” she said, playing her idol as well. Everyone was stunned, and Wentworth was upset that she misread the fact that Jenn had an idol.

At the reading of the votes, it was revealed that Ricard and Shan both received 3 votes a piece (Crystal, Kenny, and Stacey voted Ricard while Jenn, Hali, and Christine voted for Shan), but those votes were all negated due to idols. Jenn received the first three votes from the other side (from Wentworth, Lauren, and Shan) that did not count, and the alliance waited in anticipation to see if the other side split the votes or not. Sure enough they did, with Ricard, Sarah, and Wendell all voting for Stacey, sending Stacey home in a 3-0-0-0 vote. The now majority alliance celebrated their move, with Christine in tears for her fallen friend. “It’s okay,” Stacey said, “Now find another idol and take those two out,” referencing Shan and Ricard.
