SURVIVOR: REALITY SHOWDOWN Episode 7

imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: The tribes were merged, and immediately, Tiffany wanted answers on the Alyssa blindside. “Why did you lie to us Tyler?” to which Tyler tried to dodge and just said that he felt like he had more trust from the Survivor players. “I know you don’t trust us,” Derek said, trying to mend the broken bond, “But I promise you, we need to be Big Brother strong for this merge.” Seeing all this go down, Lauren knew that this was good for her and Michele. “We can now lay low,” Lauren said, “and I don’t think any eyes are on us anymore.”

Groups started assembling on the beach, with the Survivors all reuniting. “I’m amazed we all ended up staying in tact,” Janet said, hugging Lauren and Michele. Jeremy was happy too, knowing that he still had shields to keep him safe. “I want to pull some of these Racers in,” Jeremy said, “and I think I could get Jamal on board.” Jamal was down to work with the Survivors, knowing that him, Janet, and Jeremy could take the majority when it got down to final five against Michele and Lauren. As for the other side, it was clear that Tiffany, Derek, and Danielle were staying strong, and immediately they bonded with Claire, Hung, and James. “We’re underdogs,” Hung said, “and I think Tiffany, Derek, and Danielle proved that they could defy the expectations when it comes to their archetypes.” With Hung/Claire/James/Tiffany/Derek/Danielle on one side and Jeremy/Janet/Jamal/Michele/Lauren on the other, this left Tyler in the middle. “I know that Derek still wants me to work with the Big Brother players,” Tyler said, “But I also made a good bond with Lauren and Michele and may want to stick with them.”

At the challenge, it was revealed the one man and one woman would win immunity. They had to stay breathing under a grate under water, as they popped up out of the water, they were out. The women went first with Tiffany, Danielle, and Claire popping up early. Hung was shortly behind, leaving all three Survivor women. Michele was out next, leaving Lauren and Janet. Lauren lost, giving Janet the win, in which she celebrated. The guys were next, and Tyler knew he had to win since he didn’t know where he stood with everyone. Jeremy was out first, wanting to lower his threat level, followed by Derek and James. This left Tyler vs. Jamal, and Tyler surprisingly slipped and bobbed up, with Jamal taking the win. Jamal and Janet were safe.

Back at camp, it was clear that both sides had their target. Tiffany, while she wanted to go after Tyler, kept her mouth shut and instead focused her attention on one of the two Survivor girls. “Lauren and Michele made a big move and we can’t let them get to the end,” Tiffany said, to which James replied “We have to put our votes on who we think has the least chance of having an idol, so that might be Lauren.” James knew that he might have to play his idol if they weren’t able to sway Tyler onto their side. “Ideally, Jamal would work with his fellow Racers, but he seems to have aligned with the Survivors, which means we need Tyler desperately,” James said. The Survivors and Jamal, meanwhile, wanted to go after their biggest threat. “We have to consider who is going to win challenges and could win in the end,” Michele said. “I’m thinking Derek,” Janet said, but Lauren countered with “If we want Tyler on board, we should go with the person Tyler is least connected to.” Jamal suggested going for one of the Amazing Racers, and suggested James. “He’s a winner on his show and he understands this game,” Jamal said, “and if we can get him out, we can get Hung and Claire on our side easier.”

James began his plan to try and sway Tyler’s vote. “If I can sway Tyler,” he said, “I don’t have to play my idol.” James talked to Tyler and pitched the idea of getting out Lauren. “She’s someone we can take out to unravel that side, and I think she’s a threat to win in the end,” he told Tyler. Tyler was confused, not knowing why they were pushing Lauren. “I think I’d have an easier time listening to James’ pitch if he gave up a big name like Jeremy or Michele…but Lauren?” Tyler asked. Tyler went to Derek too, who continued to try and sway him. “We need to stay together, and then we can be final four,” Derek said. Tyler just didn’t trust anyone on the Big Brother side since the Cody blindside. Tyler then talked to Lauren and Michele and told them that the other side was planning to get rid of Lauren. “Me? Why?” Lauren asked, panicking. Lauren knew she needed to search for an idol in case their target played one.

At tribal council, Lauren said she felt like she was in danger. “If it’s true that its Survivor vs. Big Brother with some racers split in the middle,” Lauren said, “then I think I’m in the minority and I could be in danger.” Danielle said that it was tough since Tyler was the key ingredient, saying “We flipped on Tyler, Tyler flipped on us, and now he holds all the power in this game.” After the votes were cast, James was nervous, not knowing if he should play his idol or not, and decided to play it. “I’m not so sure we were able to sway Tyler,” he said. Lauren didn’t have an idol and knew this could spell doom. The first six votes all came for James, from Jamal, the Survivor contestants, and Tyler (who decided to stick with the Survivors). Derek, Tiffany, and Danielle knew that it didn’t matter who Tyler voted for, since they had the numbers with that idol play, and the six votes came for Lauren. Lauren was upset, not living up to the potential she knew she had going into the merge. “I guess they wanted an easy out,” she said, “but I fought to the last minute searching for that idol.” Now that James played his idol, nobody has idols, and there is still one hidden waiting to be found.
