Almost a month and a half ago I began this contest with twelve contestants. Then through a series of eleven challenges I was able to dwindle that number to three. I want to thank you all for participating and sending in your entries in a timely manner. I know it was hard as there’s always other responsibilities in life which take top priority. Overall, I was very impressed with this season as many songs I’ve never heard of before were submitted.
Now enough rambling, here are the results of the battle rounds:
Battle #1
‘Dreaming Alone’ vs ‘Just Pretend’ vs ‘because i liked a boy’
Reviews:
‘Dreaming Alone’ Kindred7 - My favorite aspect of this song is the lyrics, they tell a sweet story about two ex-lovers who both miss each other even though they’re in new relationships. The weakest part of the song were the vocal performances from the singers. I won’t say they were terrible but they could’ve been stronger.
‘Because i liked a boy’ coolKat - This is easily one of your strongest submissions in the contest. It has honest and raw lyrics that tell a story which allowed me to picture a movie in my mind, especially during the first verse. I also liked the retro-sounding production as well as how much the first chorus varied from that first verse.
‘Just Pretend’ Thnksfrthmmrs - Interestingly enough, all three songs in this battle were about break-ups. Comparatively, this song has the best hook but is weaker when it comes to the lyrical content. The lyrics leave much up to imagination for example he says that he and his ex were too different but doesn’t elaborate on how.
Although I did like all three of these songs and would listen to them outside of the contest, the winner is an easy choice for me. The winner of this first battle is Coolkat with ‘because I liked a boy’.
Battle #2
‘This Hell’ Thnksfrthmmrs - I liked the production that takes inspiration from disco and a little bit from country music. Overall, this was a fun song.
‘Lion’ Kindred7 - This song was lots of fun and coincidentally reminds me of a lot of the first song in the battle round with the mentions of religion. My only criticism is that this might get annoying to listen to after hearing it a few times because of how repetitive it is. Production-wise, the song reminds me a lot of the tropical house music that was popular a few years ago.
‘Leave’ coolKat - The highlight of this song would have to be her soulful voice, it’s unique and brings the song to the next level. The lyrics were interesting as well as they tell the story of a boyfriend that the singer once loved until he turned to drugs. Another great submission for you!
The winner of this round would have to be coolKat with ‘Leave’!
Battle #3
‘Come Back Home’ coolKat - I can’t stand her voice in the song. I’ve listened to some of her older stuff and she didn’t sound like this so I’m assuming she’s putting on an infliction to sound trendy. I’m sure the lyrics are meaningful but it’s hard for me to focus on anything else.
‘Take What You Want’ Thnksfrthmmrs - This would’ve been better without the Travis Scott verse but that being said I still really enjoyed this. It was initially surprising to see Post work with Ozzy Osborne, but Post has a history in rock music so it was cool to see him return to his roots. My favorite line is “you showed your tongue and it was forked in two”, because it’s a more clever way of calling her a snake. A criticism I have is with Post’s voice as he tends to mumble stuff over enunciating it which makes it harder to try and understand the lyrics.
‘Can’t Catch Tomorrow’ Kindred7 - This was fun to listen to, but I don’t see myself remembering this in the future.

I will be giving the bronze medal of this season to Kindred7. You have done a great job in this contest since you landed in the top, five different times which is more than any other contestant. However, none of your submissions in the finale stuck with me unfortunately. It was a pleasure to have you competing this season as you were very engaged with the game so I’m glad you were able to reach the finals!
Now, I am at a bit of a standstill because although CoolKat did a great job in these last couple of rounds, Thnksfrthmmrs has been more consistent throughout this season as a whole.
Since CoolKat crushed this finale so much, he will be the winner of my contest!!
Congratulations, although you had a bit of a dry spell in the middle of the season you were able to turn things around once I started asking for multiple submissions per round. I always root for their underdog and you were the underdog for a while in this competition. However, I’m now proud to call you the winner of my second music game!
