Thank you all for submitting your entries! I know the game has gotten more difficult as we inch closer to crowning the winner so I appreciate everybody’s participation. I’ve had time to listen to and review your choices so here are your results.

Kindred7 Congratulations, I enjoyed both of your submissions this round and you were close to taking home another win. However, as much as your songs were great I have heard them before so they didn’t blow me away as much as another contestant’s submissions...

The winner of the challenge and securing a space in my top three is

coolKat Nice going, it’s been a long time coming but you’ve finally been able to rise above everybody else and win a challenge. Both of your choices were unknown songs to me but I doubt I’ll be forgetting either of them. Congrats!

The means the bottom two this round are humanwebjet1 and thnksfrthmmrs.

Thnksfrthmmrs you have had an impressive run throughout my game since this is your first time in the bottom. However, you have come to a screeching halt these last two rounds. I thought you’d be a shoo-in for the win a couple rounds ago but now I’m thinking it can be anybody’s game. Humanwebjet1 , you submitted solid songs this round. However, one didn’t fit the theme very well while the other didn’t resonate with me as much as others. Although you’ve had some memorable highs throughout this season you’ve also been in the bottom, three previous times. Because of that, your journey will end today in my competition. You’ve done an impressive job racking up two challenge wins and two other top song picks. Thank you for playing!!

There you have it folks, our top three. Our next round will be the coveted semi-finals where we determine which two users will face-off in the final two competition!

[REVIEWS]
“Hate Me” thnksfrthmmrs - This was a perfect choice for the theme, since it has lyrics that make you think and pay attention. The song is angsty but has a sweet message at its core. The song represents a mother’s love for their child that is unbreakable and persists through hard times. It can be hard to accept somebody’s acts of kindness especially when you’re so insecure that you don’t feel that you deserve it.

“The Lighthouse” coolKat - This submission fits the theme perfectly, it told me a story that kept me intrigued. I like that it was influenced by Greek mythology because that interests me and I don’t hear that influence much in music. I like this much better than your last Halsey submission, so I’m glad you were able to show me a different side of her.

“Karma Police” humanwebjet1 - I love this song, however this would’ve fit a lot better in the second category as it’s the production that stands out to me. The lyrics largely go over my head (which probably means that they’re too clever for me). Even after looking into what the lyrics mean, this song doesn’t tell as much of a story as other submissions in the theme.

“Safe & Sound” Kindred7 - I remember not liking this song when it first came out because I found it boring, but I’m able to appreciate it now that I’m older. It’s subtle but in a beautiful and comforting way. The song is able to tell you a story with its lyrics but still leave some stuff up to your imagination since it’s not specifically explaining what’s happening in the outside world.  Although it was written for The Hunger Games, it can be related to other situations that the listener is going through.

“Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)” coolKat - This song has a production that’s very reminiscent of this time period, complete with a saxophone solo. Luckily, I like this time period of music because of how timeless it sounds years later. This is proven by how similar it sounds to artists of today, like Bruno Mars.

“What I’ve Done” Kindred7 - I had doubts going into this song because I’ve heard their hits so many times but I still enjoyed this a lot. It’s extremely motivational, in part because of how general the lyrics are. Anybody can relate to this, there isn’t one specific situation being described. Sometimes that bothers me in songs but not in this case, especially because this was submitted because of the production, not the lyrics.

“Reptilia” humanwebjet1 - For some reason I’ve never been able to get into The Strokes, despite liking similar bands such as Franz Ferdinand or Arctic Monkeys. I’ve enjoyed it more after a couple more listens but still haven’t fallen in love with it.

“Comforting Sounds” Thnksfrthmmrs - It’s hard for me to judge this one since it’s so far out of my comfort zone music-wise. However, I did listen to this full nine minutes and didn’t hate it. I wouldn’t go out of my way to listen to it all the way through again but it’s nice to have on if I want to tune out the World and feel something. I respect you for taking a risk and that will be taken into consideration when determining your placement for this round.
