PREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: The merge was on. Among them, television stars, olympians, and even a maze runner. The competition was heating up. Everyone seemed to be getting along quite nicely, but the Athletes knew that they were in the minority of the pack, seeing as they had 5 to the Actors’ 6 people. Kate made sure to talk to Corbin to make sure he was okay with sticking together, and Corbin gave a “yes,” but in his mind, he knew he was the 6th at the bottom of the totem pole. “I didn’t come to play for 6th place,” he said in a confessional. He decided to talk to Aly to get the scoop on the Athletes team. Aly told him that her and Kareem were tight, but that Michael, Tim, and Apolo were even tighter. Corbin thought that aligning with the Athletes could be a sure possibility, considering Aly and Kareem would probably be loyal to him, and he could make final three with them. Aly talked to Kareem about possibly getting Corbin on board. Kareem didn’t know if he could trust Corbin, and thought he might just be spying for the other side. At the immunity challenge, the contestants had to compete individually for the first time. The challenge was to balance on a small peg over the water. Surprisingly, Kareem and Tim were the first ones in the water, proving their feet too big for the small peg. Kate was in next, followed by Jack, Jodie, and Michael. Dylan and Corbin shortly followed, Dylan not wanting to pose a big threat early on in the merge, and Corbin trying to conserve his energy for future challenges when he may be in danger. It was down to Aly, Hilarie, and Apolo. Hilarie felt safe enough with her alliance, but wanted to represent for the Actors. Apollo got tired and jumped, hoping that he would be safe enough at tribal. It was Aly vs. Hilarie, and Aly said that Hilarie would be safe if she let Aly have it. Hilarie didn’t want to make any deals, and Aly was frustrated. Eventually, a shaky shift of balance sent Hilarie down, giving Aly immunity. Back at camp, the Athletes discussed who they would target, and Kareem suggested Dylan for being strong. Tim pointed out, however, that Hilarie was on the pole the entire time, and posed a bigger threat than Dylan did because she was a better social player. Aly talked to Corbin about possibly going after Hilarie. Corbin said he would be down. Corbin then talked to the Actors to see who they were trying to eliminate. The Actors had settled on Apolo, figuring that he was the strongest guy on the Athletes side. Kareem saw Corbin talking to the Actors and told the Athletes. Aly promised that they could trust Corbin, but Kareem wasn’t convinced. Kareem decided to take matters into his own hands and ask Jodie how tight Corbin was with them. This caused Jodie to question a lot, and Kareem said that Corbin was planning on voting with the Athletes. Jodie said that Corbin was planning on voting with them, which led Jodie to question whether Corbin was a flip flopper or not. Jodie told Dylan, Jack, Kate, and Hilarie that Corbin was talking to the Athletes too. This made them all super nervous, and made them question whether they should just vote out Corbin or not. At tribal council, Corbin tried to play it cool and not give away that he was voting with the Athletes, but Kareem revealed that there was a snake in the group. After a few questions, Dylan spoke up and said that Corbin was the snake. Corbin tried to deny everything, but Kareem then pressed him, asking who he was going to be loyal to. Corbin decided to say that the people he was loyal to would know who he was voting for. This confused a bunch of people. Jodie said that things were gonna get crazy. Everyone tried to figure out whether or not Corbin was going to be loyal to them or not. When the voting came, the first three votes were for Corbin (from Jodie, Dylan, and Jack), the next two votes were for Apolo (from Kate and Hilarie). The Actors were stressed that they were split on votes, and especially stressed when the next vote came in for Hilarie. Corbin was nervous, hoping that the next votes from the Athletes would be for Hilarie and not himself, and they were. The rest of the votes were for Hilarie, showing that the Athletes decided to trust Corbin. Hilarie sadly made her way out of tribal council, knowing that there was nothing she could do. Corbin shook Kareem’s hand, showing that he was loyal to them. Kareem apologized to Corbin for ever assuming he was a snake, even though he voted for Hilarie anyway, to do what the Athletes thought was right. The numbers were now even 5 and 5, with Corbin siding with the Athletes, putting Dylan, Jack, Kate, and Jodie in the minority.
