Tim's Music Game - The Revival: Episode 12 Apr 21, 2022
Last episode, I said this round was to earn your ticket to the semi finals...well I'm shaking it up. After this round, we will officially reach the finale where the top five will face off to become the 3rd winner of Tim's music series. Let's get to the results

Beat of My Heart: This was kind of unexpected. Didn’t expect her to go so hard. Living for the instrumentation

Angry Too: She’s kind of giving Melanie Martinez (although I’m not super well versed in Melanie). I thought her vocals were really good

Everlong: RIP Taylor Hawkins. Not my favorite Foo Fighters song, but it’s a classic nonetheless. I always loved that guitar riff

Plum Island: I love the raw, 2000s, pop punk sound this has. Sounds straight out of 2006 lol. I wish there was a bit more balance between the vocals and instrumentation, but I wasn’t disappointed

Clint Eastwood: Another classic. It has that laid back feel that I really like.

Plug In…: I need to listen to this album again, because it’s been a while and I don’t really remember this song. I really like the futuristic sound they went for with this album. The beginning felt a bit wonky, but it hits hard and doesn’t stop at 1:30. Overall, really liked this.

And the winner of this round is...

#spinfur! Congrats! Your second win in a row has secured your spot in the finale. I'm actually kind of obsessed with your song. It's legit on repeat. Thank you for sharing it

#symmetry888 and #tyleror. I liked both of your songs, and it really came down to the smallest details when making this choice.

You are safe. Unfortunately symmetry888, you have been eliminated. Krystal, you brought so much to this contest, and it sucks seeing you go right before the finale. I appreciate your music taste a lot, sincerely. Thank you for playing <3

Round 12 Theme: Soundtrack of Your Life

For the finale, you will submit three songs to create the soundtrack of your life
1. A song that you feel represents any part of your past
2. A song that you feel represents you in the present
3. A song that represents what you hope for your future
Providing some brief context is helpful, but I will be judging purely based on the music. Please let me know if you have any questions, and good luck! I'm excited to see what you each come up with.

Tim's Music Game: The Revival - Episode 11 Apr 2, 2022
Sorry. Blaming the long wait time this week on my birthday xx

N e wayz, here are the comments:

Ever After: I didn’t love the instrumentation in the opening. But I really enjoyed the vocals and the harmonies. Good music has no time limit, but I think it ran a tad long for my taste. But I think for the most part, the transitions in the song were pretty spot on

Not in Love: So I don’t typically love super electronic music like this. Some parts of it really just sounded like loud screeching, and it was a bit off putting

Rocket’s Tail: If nothing else, listening to Kate Bush is always an experience. I didn’t love the beginning, but once the guitars came in, I was really feeling it

今夜はブギー・バック (nice vocal): The vocals were indeed nice. Parts of the instrumentation was a bit annoying, but that’s mostly just my aversion to weird electronic beats. It was nice, but I didn’t find it super memorable

Saeed: Way different than what I expected. Idk why but I was thinking it'd be more prog rock. It took a while to get into it. The beginning was super messy. Once it hit the 4:30ish mark, it felt a bit more melodic.

HYPER: Kind of sounds like if Sia were singing a song written for Avril Lavigne lol. But it was cool. I liked the instrumentation. Had a nice 2000s pop rock kind of vibe to it

Curse of the Blackened Eye: His voice is intriguing. It’s really not my usual style, but you can thank Kacey for opening me up to more country influenced music. It was a bit slow, a wee bit dull, but a solid listen overall.

Voila. I'm sorry but your journey ends here. You had some highs and some lows this game. Took a risk the first round sending a song I hated, but you showed a good diverse music taste, and I sincerely appreciate that. Thanks for playing <3

Round 11 Theme: Free Choice!

We may have eliminated the free choice submissions each round, but I feel like there were several rounds where many of you ate the free choice songs. So in order to earn your spot into the semi finals, send any song you love that you think I'll love too. Absolutely no restrictions here. Good luck =)

Tim's Music Game: The Revival - Episode 10 Mar 20, 2022
This was probably the hardest round I've ever had to judge in all of the different games I've judged. Everyone came through, and I loved all of the theme submissions. Two of you are definitely getting robbed, but unfortunately, that is how the cookie has to crumble. Here are my comments:

Could You Be Loved: So my favorite Bob Marley song is also on this album haha. I lowkey love me some reggae, so this song definitely scratches that itch. The instrumentation is great, and I enjoy the lyrics as well.

Cruisin’: Love the bass in the opening. I mean this song is a Motown classic for good reason. It’s just sooo smooth.

Rhiannon: I love Fleetwood Mac. They’ve produced some hits including a song which I think is among the best songs ever made (not this one unfortunately). But not to take away from this great song. The instrumentation is so good, especially the closing guitar solo. These guys just know how to make music.

Creep: The superior Creep of the 90s. This whole album really is such a vibe, and this song is definitely one of the highlights.

Call Me: Is there a longer version because I’m pretty sure the music video cut out a lot of the song. Which is a shame because 2 minutes isn’t long enough because the song is quite good. The key change to the bridge was pretty awesome.

Back to Life: The beat and instrumentation literally give me life. Like if you aren’t moving along to this, you probably aren’t a real person. It’s just infectious.

Grace: So this is the first song in the line-up that I hadn’t heard before, so props for that. I enjoyed this a lot. It was like a weird mix of grunge and folk but still had an ethereal sound to it that made it fun to listen to.

Drift Away: lol Uncle Kracker could never. Another soulful and timeless classic.

Let the Music Play: An iconic dance bop. Love the synths and the beat. A good song to really get you moving.

#StraightLoonie, #PennyTrationStan, and #spinfur. This is a shame because I really enjoyed all of your submissions for both the theme and free choice round. But only one can move on and that person is...

#spinfur! Congrats on staying xx

Unfortunately, PennyTrationStan and StraightLoonie, you both are eliminated and high key robbed. Penny, you brought the energy to this game and served some bops. You were one of my frontrunners, and I'm sorry to see you go. Justin, I appreciate you sharing your music taste. You brought something different to the game, and I was also glad to hear your submissions. Thank you both so much for playing <33

Round 10 Theme: Genre Busters

I love artists who get creative and don't confine themselves to a specific genre. For this round, I want you to get creative and send a song that spans different genres. I'm not gonna be strict so as long as you send a few words to describe why you think it fits the theme, you'll be good. I just want some bops. As always, if you have any questions please let me know.

Also, we are DONE with free choice songs. All of you left have solid taste and made it to the final stretch for a reason. So make sure to send your best =)
