Tim's Music Game - The Revival: Episode 12

Apr 21, 2022 by tbrown_47
Last episode, I said this round was to earn your ticket to the semi finals...well I'm shaking it up. After this round, we will officially reach the finale where the top five will face off to become the 3rd winner of Tim's music series. Let's get to the results

Beat of My Heart: This was kind of unexpected. Didn’t expect her to go so hard. Living for the instrumentation

Angry Too: She’s kind of giving Melanie Martinez (although I’m not super well versed in Melanie). I thought her vocals were really good

Everlong: RIP Taylor Hawkins. Not my favorite Foo Fighters song, but it’s a classic nonetheless. I always loved that guitar riff

Plum Island: I love the raw, 2000s, pop punk sound this has. Sounds straight out of 2006 lol. I wish there was a bit more balance between the vocals and instrumentation, but I wasn’t disappointed

Clint Eastwood: Another classic. It has that laid back feel that I really like.

Plug In…: I need to listen to this album again, because it’s been a while and I don’t really remember this song. I really like the futuristic sound they went for with this album. The beginning felt a bit wonky, but it hits hard and doesn’t stop at 1:30. Overall, really liked this.

And the winner of this round is...

You are safe. Unfortunately symmetry888, you have been eliminated. Krystal, you brought so much to this contest, and it sucks seeing you go right before the finale. I appreciate your music taste a lot, sincerely. Thank you for playing <3

Round 12 Theme: Soundtrack of Your Life

For the finale, you will submit three songs to create the soundtrack of your life
1. A song that you feel represents any part of your past
2. A song that you feel represents you in the present
3. A song that represents what you hope for your future
Providing some brief context is helpful, but I will be judging purely based on the music. Please let me know if you have any questions, and good luck! I'm excited to see what you each come up with.

Song #1
Song of the past

I decided to go with this song because being part of the LGBT one of my many struggles was finding acceptations especially since I lived in a republican family who were very weary about that topics, they accept me now but back then I was bullied, and I didn't really feel like I was accepted by anyone, and it just sucks.

Song of the present:

Mothica is one of my favorite artists and so I had to pick one of her songs for this finale round, and I think this song captures my present. Due to my past I have really bad anxiety regarding getting out and being social, and have really bad trust issues. Like the only people that I have strong connections with are a few select irl friends, but also people on the internet who I can easily cut off if they aren't for me. A lot of people have called me sensitive for being an emotional wreck and having bad anxiety since "I'm a man I shouldn't feel that stuff" so I felt this song relates.

Song of the future:

I know my last two songs were rough and an emotional roller coaster but for my future I hope I can really grow from that once I get out of college, and be successful and don't give a fuck about what people say. I hope to prove those dickheads wrong, and I want to live my life the way I want to, fortunately college isn't going smoothly for me but once I get out there and start earning some cash I'm hoping I can become someone really strong

Past:

I struggled with accepting who I was in more ways than one (being gay, being a POC, an immigrant and just wanting love)  this song helped me find who I was through countless of tearful nights into my pillow and this song represents my past of trying to learn and accept who I am

Present day I’m focusing on me and focusing on learning to love myself and bettering who I am as a person now and thats with everything not just relationships that’s for work and personal

Future: I want my future to present a bad bitch auru where no matter who or what hurts me I can still be a strong person and have the last laugh

Past:

The town that I lived in for all my childhood wasn't great. Some questionable people and a lot of run down buildings but in the end it still holds a special place just because it's where I grew up! This song basically encapsulates that.

Present:

I never really go too much into detail about real life on here or indeed on any social media site. This differs a lot from my past as in my teens I was like an open book. I'm very guarded these days.

Future:

I try hard to build the best future I can for myself but in the end some things are out of my control. It's best not to get too pre-occupied with changes out of my control and just deal with them as they come.

Song of the past: IRIS, by The Goo Goo Dolls

This is a song that always used to hold a special place in my heart when I was younger. I used to hear it come on the radio and would always relate to it, the line “I don’t want the world to see me cuz I don’t think that they’d understand.” I’ve always felt very different and misunderstood by most people, and at a fairly young age I realized I was gay, and I would always hear this song and think like, maybe he’s singing about being gay too? So from that I guess I always found comfort in the song and its a good song for my past.

Song of the present: Hand In My Pocket, by Alannis Morissette

I think this song is PERFECT to describe my “present” like down to almost every single lyric basically. I’ve been hit with a constant whirlwind of change in my life, that started about 4 4 years ago. A lot of times I don’t feel like I know what’s going on or what’s going to happen but really I’ve had to settle on learning that that’s totally fine, because it’s what I have to deal with. I’ve learned to try to manage my own reality and roll with the punches.

Song of the future: Still Into You, by Paramore

It’s really really difficult for me to think about what the future is going to bring, but there’s one thing that I always picture in my future and that’s my wonderful fiancé. This song came out when I’d been dating Zack for like maybe a year. When I hear this song now, almost 10 years later, it holds a COMPLETELY different meaning and the lyrics really sink in, and I know this is how I’ll be feeling in 50 years as well.
