Here are critiques for the top and bottom 3.
#CarolinaSteele: Get Into It (Yuh) - Sometimes, you just want to listen to a song that’s fun and makes you move without caring about the lyrics. This is one of those songs for me. It started as a guilty pleasure, but now I’m not afraid to say I’ve listened to the one hour loop mix on Youtube on multiple occasions. What can I say other than it’s a banger.
#Thnksfrthmmrs: SUN GOES DOWN - There has been a lot of Lil Nas X so far in the game, and candidly, I’m not his biggest fan. I don’t love him as a singer. And this was another song that I felt wasn’t super dynamic or added anything new or interesting to keep me engaged as a listener.
#NewNightmare7: TG4M - I admittedly have a hard time differentiating Zara between Bebe Rexha, Anne Marie, and that whole group of women pop artists. I was honestly just pretty bored listening to this. I wasn’t really getting much from the vocals or instrumentation, and it sounded the same to me from start to finish.
#txashaun: transparentsoul - I really liked this. I thought the punk influence was super cool, and Travis Barker on drums was a nice touch. This had a clear vibe and everything from the vocals to the instrumentation really fit.
#Voila: Golden Girls Theme - I’ve never seen Golden Girls, so this is actually the first time I’ve heard this song. Like, musically it was fine, but there really wasn’t much for me to connect with. And even if this song had another verse, I don’t see myself really ever enjoying this.
#Maxi123: LazyBaby - So I do have to give you a one place penalty for submitting late which is a shame because this definitely could’ve won. It’s a legit bop. I absolutely love the instrumentation. I had never heard this before, so it was definitely a nice surprise.
