Ouijake: A Pale - Rosalia
When the song began, I was sure I wasn’t going to like this song. But once I got past the introduction, I enjoyed it. I loved the beat. The song just felt a bit disjointed since the opening and closing didn’t really flow well with the rest of the song.
NewNightmare7: Prenderemos Fuego al Cielo - Francesca Valenzuela
This song was really good. I could tell how the disco sound really influenced this song, and I liked it a lot. Her voice also really complemented the track. This was a nice comeback for you after the last round.
GrrrImABear: Erlkonig - Franz Schubert
This was another bold choice from you. Part of the reason I formatted the game this way is to encourage people to take risks, and you have delivered on that front most of the game. I definitely prefer classical style pieces sans vocals. I’m not super into the operatic vocal style. If I’ve learned anything about your style, I think you definitely like songs that take you on some sort of journey, and this song definitely did that.
ILoveLarry: La Marcheuse - Christine and the Queens
This was a nice song. The beat was nice, and in conjunction with her voice, it gave the song a very mellow vibe. The song was pretty simplistic, but overall, it was enjoyable to listen to.
Christian_: Yanki - Simge
Honestly, I think this song is pretty average. I’m not a huge fan of her vocals; she’s not bad, but her style isn’t one I particularly care for. The beat is cool, but as a whole, there’s nothing about the song that captivates me enough to listen to it again.
Stuartlittle16: Amar Pelos Dois - Salvador Sobral
I was excited to see a song in Portuguese since I’d have a fighting chance at understanding at least some of the song. I can’t give you bonus points for submitting a song I could understand, but I can give you points for submitting a good song. I thought it was a very well done ballad. The instrumental was great, and I thought his vocal delivery was solid.
Becksta20: E Più Ti Penso - Andrea Bocelli and Ariana Grande
I feel like Andrea has a lot of collaborations with people that I wouldn’t expect him to. Again, I’m not a huge fan of his or his operatic style of singing, but I can’t deny that these two sound great together.
Cheritaisdelicious: BRON - Lykke Li
This song had a very minimalistic style. Sometimes that can work, but I felt like there was something missing. There were a lot of subtle things happening in the background, but the song still felt kind of one-dimensional.
Kingjames13: Gangnam Style - PSY
I feel like you are expecting me to completely destroy this song. I actually don’t think this song is super bad. I’ll clearly dance to this song if it comes on. Is it a great work of music? No. But it’s fun, and I think that merits some brownie points.
FromAWindow: Nunca Es Suficiente - Los Ángeles Azules ft. Natalia Lafourcade
As a former trumpet player, I was living for the brass. I liked the traditional Mexican sound and how fun this song was. I do wish the singer was a bit more captivating because I was much more invested in the band than in her singing. But this is a solid song.
Zach3051: Corre - Jesse & Joy
This was great. I loved how the song continued to build on itself from beginning to end. It was nearly 6 minutes, and I never felt myself getting bored. And that piano slayed the entire song. This was such a joy (ha) to listen to.
Rubes: Djadja - Aya Nakamura
This is my first time listening to Aya, and I’m ready to stan. I really liked this song - everything from her sound to her style. I kind of wish the beat had a little more flavor to it. I was waiting for the song to build up a bit to a bigger climax, but overall, I enjoyed how mellow this song was.
