NMT S01E03B: RESULTS SHOW Aug 21, 2022
Welcome back to the RESULTS SHOW of 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗲'𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 Episode 3!

Really enjoyed a lot of movies this week! Maybe not as much as last week's group but maybe that's on me for coming up with this theme! Anyways here goes!

***

𝙍𝙀𝙑𝙄𝙀𝙒𝙎

Perfect Blue (1997) NewNightmare7 - No way this is like one of my favorite movies of all time (if not my number one)!!! I almost sent it to your competition for scores week before I saw it had been sent before LOL! That to me is one of the best parts of this film - the iconic soundtrack! Not only that, I just think everything about this classic movie is perfection. The art direction, script, plot... everything! That final chase scene is amazing and not to mention the way they perfectly conduct that supercut of scenes where Mima is starting to go crazy. I'm obsessed!

The Princess Diaries (2001) coolKat - omg no way! I probably have seen this movie once before like 10 years ago and to be honestly... I loved this rewatch! Like wow what a movie! They don't make em like this anymore. I love a good "chick flick" and this is honestly top tier. Mia's storyline and character progression is absolutely amazing and of course Anne is so charming and naturally funny that she really becomes such a relatable and fun character. I actually kinda wanna read the book now after seeing the movie! Personally this has been my favorite submission from you so far and I'm excited to see what else is coming from you!

DOA: Dead Or Alive (2006) turkeylover - girl this movie was a hot mess... and I'M OBSESSED!!!! No like this level of bad slay shouldn't be allowed. This is like Charlie's Angels but if it was really bad. This makes me sound like I'm leaving a negative review but it really and truly is the opposite. Like the movie barely has something that resembles a plot and I was eating it the fuck up!!! The fight scenes are GREAT and nobody in the main cast can act to save their life but they kind of all carried a movie that would be unwatchable without the slayful girlies kicking ass!!! This is a feminist movie now I have decided!!! No like Devon Aoki and Holly Valance are kinda showing up in The Muses Pt. 2 (coming never) cause of this piece of golden CINEMA.

Beastly (2011) pennytrationstan - now everybody knows I am not the biggest ROMANCE fan but this was definitely a unique viewing experience. Like...this movie was kinda bad (which I'm sure you knew sending it) but I was anything BUT bored. Damn Mary Kate Olsen really had to book those gigs in 2011 phew. The acting and writing is atrocious and the plot is...barely there. For some reason I still enjoyed this? Like I was giggling at scenes that were really not meant to be funny. Idk something about this is kinda endearing. I'm not sure how well it will stand out against the other entries but I had fun with this!

Coraline (2009) Symmetry888 - not you sent another movie that I love for the second week in a row! Are you stalking me? 🤨 No but seriously this movie IS my childhood. I'd literally watch it at least 3 times a month. I kinda have every line memorised because of that. To this day I'm still so impressed at the level of sheer horror that they allowed in a fricking kids film 😭 and not only that but the premise of the movie is genuinely more creative and unique than most actual horror movies out there. In my opinion this is a perfect movie through and through!

The Girl Next Door (2007) ChrisParker13 - this was...wild. And to think it's based on a true story! Yikes! Movies like this never fail to fill me with rage! And it was really sad too of course but never have I hated a group of main characters more LOL sorry but even the good guy was getting on my nerves damn! The final act really did a good job of keeping me at the edge of my seat and then making me really emotional but I also wanted the group of antagonists to have more of a come-uppance. From what I understand the film is a loose interpretation so it really would have helped to see some more ass beating you know? Other than that this was a very emotional experience for me!

Deranged (1974) Thirteen - I have no idea where you be finding these movies from LMAO but by all means, don't stop! I find it great watching movies I've never even heard about. This was...wild as fuck. The special effects are surprisingly disgusting for such an old movie and I was actually gagging a few times throughout the movie. On the negative side I found the narrator to be kind of unnecessary? And I feel like the kills could have been more slayful and not offscreen. Like they already went full gore with the corpse scenes so they could have done more with the killings I think. Much like the previous movie I wish they had shown the antagonist getting some kind of come-uppance (since this is also only loosely based on the true story) but again this was quite the intriguing watch for me!

It (2017) NanoNerd - I've only seen this movie once when it first came out in theaters and all I can remember is that I found most of the main characters really annoying LOL so I kinda never really watched it back because of that. But honestly upon rewatch I'm just now realizing how actually scary this movie is?? Like that opening scene is ICONIC and the scary scenes are genuinely scary. I remember the scene with the hair in the sink genuinely freaking me out when I first watched it and it still freaked me out 5 years later! I'm still kinda bummed that barely anyone dies but I get that they were staying true to the book there. Overall I'm glad I was tasked with rewatching this cause it wasn't as bad as I thought it was! It was actually pretty good!

I am soooo shocked! I am absolutely obsessed with your previous entries (Moonlight and High Life) but this week's submission I just didn't happen to enjoy as much as everyone else's. If it makes you feel better I though you were gonna win the whole competition, so just know I think you have great taste in films!

In a shocking twist, THE frontrunner has been eliminated :( This just goes to show that all it takes is one movie to send you packing! See everyone for episode 4!

NMT S01E02B: RESULTS SHOW Aug 13, 2022
Heyyyy! Welcome back to the RESULTS SHOW of 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗲'𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 Episode 2!

Again, I enjoyed every single movie! This is truly an all stars cast! Not a bad movie in the bunch!

***

𝙍𝙀𝙑𝙄𝙀𝙒𝙎

Crimson Peak (Mia Wasikowska) symmetry888 - You know what's funny? I LOVE this movie! I've owned the DVD since it came out AND I watched it in theaters too! It has got to be one of my favorites! I just find the visuals to be STUNNING and the plot is exceptional too! Jessica Chastain carries this movie on her BACK and needs to be in more horror movies! And let's not forget Mia Wasikowska! She just has this radiance about her that makes you root for her and sympathize with her too! I always perk up when the final chase scene begins! Guillermo Del Torro is a genius! Overall I really enjoyed this rewatch and I'm sure I'll enjoy it when I inevitably watch it again in the future!

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) NanoNerd - I'm gonna confide something in you, I have always wanted to watch this movie and I just for some reason never got the chance to! And I'm actually sooooo happy you submitted it because it was just the push I needed! This was a GREAT viewing experience! This cast is truly star-studded, and not the mention the soundtrack is AMAZING! I looooove the way this movie is shot and edited and even the writing is so fun and fast-paced! While Ramona is clearly a big presence in the movie I have to say that Knives and Wallace really stole the show for me! Loved all three of 'em! The fight scenes are masterpieces and overall this was just a suuuuuper fun watch! Great choice this week! Definitely one of my favorites!

The Others (Nicole Kidman) thirteen - wow what a film! This is another one I've been meaning to watch for a while but never got down to it, so I'm glad I was finally able to get it off my watchlist! This movie definitely relies on its eerie atmosphere to bring the horror rather than scares or psychological elements. It actually kind of reminds me of a black and white horror film named "The Innocents" (great watch, totally recommend) in that way! The twist at the end gave me actual chills! On the flip side I will say this movie goes on for quite a bit and with a lack of spooky moments it does tend to drag on for some scenes to the point that I was checking how much time was left. Nicole Kidman slays as usual though. She makes the movie so much more enjoyable than if another actress had for some reason taken her place.

High Life (Mia Goth) ChrisParker13 - Holy shit......I- baby this movie done fucked me UP! Like I have no words... this movie perfectly captures a disturbing sense of loneliness, isolation, hopelessness... just wow.... It's almost two hours long and I truly don't feel it cause I was so invested the whole time. I don't even know what to say! That ending left me empty. So freaking bleak and disturbing! Especially when you realise that was the happiest possible ending you could have hoped for in the movie...damn. No words!

Don't Look Up (Jennifer Lawrence) oswordo3 - Oh wow what a viewing experience! I really liked certain elements of this movie! The ending especially, I found to be so impactful! The dinner scene... almost made me cry actually! The entire movie is a super interesting commentary on politics, the media and people in general and that I really appreciate! On the opposite end, I found most of the characters in this movie to be... kinda unlikable? Like, even our protagonists in a way. Like yeah, I know Dr Mindy was supposed to go through development, but he really didn't go through that much imo? Additionally I feel like the movie is waaaay too long. On the contrary though, although she plays a villain, Meryl Streep really stole the show! Really enjoyed watching her... her comedic timing and facial expressions are genius!

Ingrid Goes West (Aubrey Plaza) turkeylover - Well this was fun! I love Aubrey Plaza in everything honestly and Elizabeth Olsen just enhanced the experience by also being there! This movie is a masterclass in...giving me anxiety! JESUS! Ingrid is just like me fr fr. But no her schemes had me on the edge of my seat! It's actually kinda weird how I should be scared of Ingrid but I'm actually sympathising with her and lowkey rooting for her throughout the movie, which I assume was their intention behind the movie anyway. I actually don't have much to say about this movie, it was a fun watch but nothing super memorable. I'm glad I watched it! Loved the ending actually, especially the big confrontation!

Meet the Robinsons (Angela Bassett) pennytrationstan - omg the nostalgia! I used to be obsessed with this movie as a kid! What I appreciate about this film is that it's a great watch for both kids and adults alike! The animation hasn't really aged that well but the plot and humor still check out honestly! I actually even got a bit emotional at the end! I wish Angela was featured more in the movie though... she's only there for like 5 minutes LOL. Anyways, a great watch!

Kick-Ass (Chloe Grace Moretz) NewNightmare7 - wow I haven't seen this movie in I wanna say like...10 years maybe! It was great to finally watch it back cause there are scenes in here that I vividly remember from my childhood LOL which is crazy since I've only seen it once or twice! This movie is super fun and the fight scenes are just genius! Chloe, of couse, carries on her back. I found myself looking forward to every scene she was in! Aaron is of course a great lead too, but I did find myself cringing at him really hard when he was just starting the superhero thing and being goofy lmao. I get it though that was necessary for plot progression LOL. A fun rewatch for me!

Set It Up (Lucy Liu) coolKat - well this was cute! As we all know I am not really a romcom kind of person, like it has to be reaaaal good for me to enjoy it. I enjoyed this, actually! The premise especially was very unique and fun. Rose and that white guy also had a ton of chemistry which was fun to watch! And, this will be our little secret, I always tear up at the end of romcoms! Shhhh! Overall this was a fun experience but I will say...it was a romcom...so I found some scenes to be kinda cheesy and others to sometimes get a bit boring lol. But I still had fun...it's nice to watch a feel-good movie every now and then!

NMT S01E01B: RESULTS SHOW Aug 6, 2022
Heyyyy! Welcome to the RESULTS SHOW of 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗲'𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 Episode 1!

I just wanna commend EVERYONE for bringing their all and slaying this round. You all made it very hard to eliminate someone!

***

𝙍𝙀𝙑𝙄𝙀𝙒𝙎

To be fair I'll give everyone a short review!

𝑲𝒊𝒌𝒊'𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆 (1989) symmetry888 - wow I don't even know HOW to even start reviewing this! I'm aware it's kind of a mainstream(?) movie but I'd never seen it before today and honestly... it's great! I'm obsessed with the animation, characters and even the storyline. Kiki is just like me fr fr. I especially love the fact that, while Kiki is just like other girls her age who want to dress nicely and look like her peers, by the end of the movie she doesn't feel the need to change her appearance to fit in with her new friends. I'm also in love with how the film handles maturing and growing up, especially with making it so that Jiji still can't talk by the end. Wow! I've got nothing negative to say!

𝑴𝒐𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 (2018) ChrisParker13 - whoa.....I'm at a loss for words. This movie is almost 2 hours long and I didn't notice even a minute had gone by, that's how enthralled I was with it. It's just so perfectly realistic and the acting is fucking amazing. That ending might have seemed anticlimactic to some but I thought it was just so perfect. I genuinely have no words, this is a movie that sticks with you. On the negative side, however, I did request that for this theme nobody send movies that are too well known. Luckily I had never seen this before, so it was a fresh watch for me! And what a watch it was!

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒚 (1982) thirteen - wow this was pretty intense, and those ending words about this being inspired by a true story left me gobsmacked! I have quite a few thoughts about this film! On the positive side, Carla is a character that you can't help but root for and sympathize with! What she's going through is a living nightmare! All throughout the movie you're really rooting for people to believe her and for them to be able to stop whatever the hell is tormenting her! On the negative side, I feel like the movie is a bit longer than it should be. Like they could have cut off a good 30 minutes from the end product by cutting a couple of the assult scenes and other random scenes that didn't really add anything to the plot. Overall though, this was a pretty intense experience where I was biting my nails hoping this woman would be free of her tormentor!

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝑶𝒏𝒆𝒔 (2009) turkeylover - mama that was wild as FUCK! I've never made the 😟 face more times in my LIFE. Lola is actually soooo me but also the movie did a great job of making me despise her ass I was really shouting "KILL HA ASS" at my screen like 25 times girl! It makes for an amazing watching experience though I will say the acting at the beginning was a bit...rough let's just go with that. The second half of the movie really captures me though and the lead does a great job of being believable to the point where I was going 😟 for 10 minutes straight.

𝑬𝒍𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒂: 𝑴𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒂𝒓𝒌 (1988)  oswordo3 - omg this was so fun! I'm kind of obsessed with you replying with a movie over 24 hours later than when I posted the blog too, like I almost missed your comment LOL. But thank GOD I didn't because this was such a fun moment! Anything with Elvira is bound to be phenomenal just with her personality alone but when you add campy fun, horror and a cheesy storyline baby I am gonna eat that shit UP! I really enjoyed this. The jokes especially made me snicker out loud multiple times. A slay through and through!

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒍 𝑾𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒂 (2006) coolKat - oh wow, a classic! I always give credit where credit is due mama, and the first ten minutes of this movie are ICONIC! This entire movie is great, actually. A perfect example of you don't have to do too much in a movie for it to be extraordinary and enjoyable! On the negative side, since I've seen it before it didn't really have that impact that the other first-time-watching movies did! But honestly, like, who cares! This was such a fun viewing experience!

𝑫𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑲𝒊𝒍𝒍 (1980) Newnightmare7 - girl this was WILD as FUCK! I was not prepared to start off the movie by being FLASHED and that TWIST with the killer reveal omfgggg I was snatched bald mama!! Honorable mention too, the scene with the venereal disease made me SCREECH and I found that shot of everybody getting onto the train to be a masterpiece actually! On the negative side this movie runs on for a BIT... like the Kate scenes felt unnecessarily long for me, but where this movie does pick up is after the first hour. Liz is an ICON and I'd do anything for her! That purple dress lives in my mind rent free! What an experience!

𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝑩𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅 (2002) pennytrationstan - mama this movie was giving Lifetime Original but with ass and tits and honestly... here at NMT we love that! The movie itself is pretty by the books, quiet girl starts hanging out with the party girls, has an overdose, and now the sheriff is trying to figure out if it was a setup or something. The acting is... surprisingly great. The storyline checks out too, I don't see any plotholes. On the negative side I will say it's really hard differentiating between the flashbacks and current storyline cause everyone just looks the same LOL and the reveal at the end is so obvi likeee...but other than that it was a fun viewing experience!

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝑪𝒓𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒍 (1982) nanonerd - ouuuuu this entire movie was like jumping into a teleporting machine and going to a different planet! The first thing I noticed was the impressive effects for a movie made in the early 80s! The storyline is quite fun and the two main characters are super interesting! I also love the big reveal at the end! I do feel like the movie relies heavily on the nostalgia factor, and as a first time watcher I did find it to be a bit slow at times to the point where at certain times I spaced out, but that's just a minor flaw in an otherwise interesting watch!

𝑬𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒖𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒑𝒐𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒅 (2004) JayElVeeIsBack - oh wow this was definitely an interesting viewing experience for me! First of all, phenomenal cast and amazing acting! The CGI is amazing for early 2000s and the journey the movie took us through with their relationship was genius! I also love how the beginning of the movie ties in with the end. On the negative side, I am not a romance movie type of person and while this was a different kind of romance that was very unique and fun I did find myself checking how much time was left at some points in the movie!
