DAY 16 | Rui Veloso - A paix茫o (Segundo Nicolau da Viola)

I know u probably wont like this song lol and yes it is another portuguese song, this is one a classic one, and u need a lot of context to understand why this means a lot to me.
Academic life here in Portugal is a lot different than what u have in usa for example. Its a lot more traditional and the freshman can join to the "praxe". This is an portuguese term obviously, and it basically describes the whole initial rituals freshman are subject to and its different in every university. We are in "praxe" for a whole year and during that freshman year we have some moments where we meet with the other "praxes" in the city center and we basically celebrate lmao The freshman are forced to do everything that the older students that already wear the capes (at the end of first year we have a day where we wear the capes for the first time) demand the freshman to do. To sum up, at those days where all universities are gathered it ends up being a fight to see who makes the most noise and that includes singing made up (or not) songs and shaking cans and pots xd
Anyways, not all the the people here support the "praxes" cause in some universities that exceed the limits in the past... However it is one in a million case that the "praxes" do not reach their purpose of integrating new students and its rlly sad that some social media are always trying to pass the image that "praxe" should be banned.
If it ever happens it will be sad for sure, since the best moments i had in uni were there. My freshman year was interrupted bc of covid so my experience wasnt fulfilled. But this song was just one that me and my "praxe" mates had to sing. And the most beautiful thing is that this is a love song and we all were forced to kneel on the middle of the avenue and sing this song to a old lady that was on the balcony. That day we were in a procession (its one of the celebrations lmao) and the whole procession had to stop bc of us xd
We were like 50 students from my uni on that day, singing together a love song to the old lady. This is why "praxe" is so beautiful and not dangerous as some persons wanna make the other believe. Its all about union, respect and love and this song made that moment special.
FINAL IMPORTANT NOTE: This is just a short description of what "praxe" is. "Praxe" is a lot more than just this that i told u. AND PLEASEEEEE, take a look to this videoclip!! All the scenes were taken in Porto, my amazing city, and i have been a milion of times on that places!! That one near the beach is next to my uni and i have been there today lmao

Another love song. Another nostalgic song. And the reason why this song is special to me is similar to the other love and nostalgic songs i already talked about.
This is just pretty, give good vibes and relax myself. This song just hits in a different way, everything is fine and there is no problems. It kinda remember me of life pre-pandemic lmao And the timing of me talking about this is perfect since im back to presential classes tomorrow.
