The previous Sing For Your Life was a battle between iiGalaxyii and mradamman12, two contestants who have come out on top quite a bit this season. iiGalaxyii was unfortunately sent home with no tears left to cry while mradamman12 was victorious. You’ve all come so far and we really want to see what you have to offer; so from this round on you will need to submit TWO songs for each theme. Onto today’s theme…
Matt and I are 90’s babies! So obviously we had to incorporate that somehow. Today we want you to submit ONE song from 1997 (Matt’s birth year), *and* ONE song from 1999 (my birth year). The 90’s decade has some really fun, diverse music so this will be an exciting theme. Make sure to submit your best as we get closer to the end! You have 24 hours from now to submit, good luck :-)!
This Sing For Your Life was especially hard for us to watch. iiGalaxyii and mradamman12 there is no question you have both been dominating this whole season, but unfortunately you both drew the short end of the stick last theme together. Both of you were asked to submit a song of personal choice for one last chance to stay in the game. We really did enjoy both of your submissions, and only a quarter of a point separated you guys. Here’s how we felt about your submissions…
mradamman12 - XS (Rina Sawayama)
M: LOL absolutely woke lyrics. #FUCKCAPITALISM. Also, the music video was quite the performance. This was a fun lil bop that managed to be a decent pop song while actually having some meaning, love that! She has a nice voice, but didn’t show it off a ton in this song. The production was kinda meh and I feel like it had the potential to be more than what it was. However, it is pretty catchy and the little whispers in the chorus are cool. Not a bad pick, I liked the meaning behind it but the production was a little lacking for me.
K: I’m always super weary listening to pop artists I don’t know (idk is she popular I’m not with the times) but I randomly really loved this LMAO. I love how on the first listen you think it’s a materialistic song but she’s a queen basically saying eat the rich <3. Her voice and the instrumentals gave off SUPERR Britney Spears vibes. The production of the video is kind of top tier and I love how the song just emits early 2000’s pop vibes. Definitely something I’d add to a playlist, the chorus gave me a lot of serotonin. A good choice!!
iiGalaxyii - in my head (Ariana Grande)
M: You were so close to hitting perfection here. There is a song off this album I absolutely love, but this is not it. That being said, this still is pretty good. It has a really smooth beat and it’s catchy. She also sounds nice in this song, although she usually does so that’s not too surprising. Lyrically it’s fine but it’s just another Ariana song about a boy so like eh. I think it’s pretty basic for Ariana, it gets a little lost in the shuffle for me. But it’s still a good song.
K: Fun fact I posted the ‘boy I invented you’ verse on my Instagram story and one of my ex’s immediately unfollowed me like a year ago LMAO. Ooo so I really love this album it’s up there with some of her best. I really like how chill this song is and I definitely overplayed the fuck out of it when it came out but haven’t heard it in a while. It’s not really my favorite off of the album/of hers in general other than the verse I mentioned. This is so hard because I’m a big slut for Ari but I’m conflicted about this song. I like the lyrics of the song itself but the notes/melody(??) are not my fave. NOT a bad choice because duh Ari stans rise.

Pop punk isn’t dead! It’s not a phase mom! Matt and I both love to listen to songs that get our heads banging, so for today we want you to submit a song that classifies as pop punk/punk rock. The song can be from any time period but remember to be creative! This is personally going to be one of my favorite themes so show us what you got. Who will be striking out in tonight’s Sing For Your Life?
Tonight’s Sing For Your Life is between J2999, who’s not a stranger to eliminations, and Eoin, who’s previously done well enough to have never seen one. You’ve both come so far but unfortunately one of you will be leaving us tonight. You were both asked to submit a song of your personal choice for one last chance to stay. We had actually really enjoyed both of your submissions so this was a very difficult round to judge. Here’s how we felt about the submissions…
J2999 - Fire in the Flood (ORI)
M: I’m gonna be honest, after about 10 seconds of this song I thought you flopped. It just wasn’t feeling right, BUT that changed. The chorus is very good, the build to it is awesome and it definitely hits nicely. The other verses were decent and grew on me as the song went on, but the chorus is for sure what makes this song. The production is also really good. I imagine this is a really fun song to sing along to, I feel like it’ll be stuck in my head tomorrow. Very good pick, and very original for sure.
K: Oh so you took a risk and it was definitely worth it. I really enjoyed this song it sounds like something I'd blast on a night drive. He has a super nice voice to listen to he's definitely talented. This is one of those songs I'd put on when I'm not feeling so great to put me in a good mood. I normally don't like pop songs like this because they all mesh together but something about the instrumentals in this one gave me so much free serotonin. Something about the build up to the chorus just made me really excited, I can imagine this being used in edits. A great pick!
Eoin - Teenage Dream (Katy Perry)
M: This video kinda makes me sad because with C*vid none of the stuff they do is possible :( This song gives me nostalgia and makes me think of middle/high school summers. This is 100% Katy’s best era and it’s kinda not close. She put out consistent bangers during this time and this song is no different! It’s super fun and carefree which I love. The lyrics still have meaning and a story as well which adds to it. Her voice fits this song super well also. It’s not my favourite KP song but it’s up there. Nice pick.
K: This is Katy Perry is her prime era. I absolutely loved this shit back then and I love it now. Obviously she was super mainstream but a lot of her music isn't overplayed imo like they're still bops. Although this song wouldn't break my top 3 of hers at the time it's definitely such a throwback that just puts you in a good mood. The lyrics are obviously cute and I'm totally adding this to my throwback playlist to sing at the top of my lungs. Good choice!!

Normally you’re the one wishing people goodbye, Eoin, and the roles reversed feels very strange. This was a very close round, we really did enjoy both your submissions. First and foremost, a big congratulations to iSandeh for earning their way back into the game, welcome back! In the previous Sing For Your Life we said a very tragic goodbye to Absol, while J2999 knocked it out of the park and came out victorious. This brings us to today’s theme.
Matt’s a big fan of sports and I occasionally LOVE to stare at a baseball players ass. So today we want you to submit a song that references a SPORT. This is another very broad theme where many genres are up for grabs. The song itself does not entirely have to be about sports, it just has to have at least one line referencing a sport or sports team. Remember to be creative and stand out!
