#Stage8teen - Fastings, Pt. 2, the Revamp.

2ndAug 9, 2017 by RaverKid
Hey everyone!

I’ve come up with our revamped idea for the fastings, as much as we hate the current state of fastings; we do need a free game on the website that is fast, and fun. My goal in creating this, was to create something that new players could understand, and veteran players will still enjoy. Allowing for newbies to find themselves working with, and building friendships with veteran players that will prolong their activity on the website. If all new players meet, are other new players, they wont have anyone to show them the ropes, and they quit and find a new website to play on. And yes, the name is TOTALLY a play on the video game “Mass Effect”. Sue me!

Much like fastings, your day will begin with a nomination vote. Instead of selecting 2 people in your vote, you will have 4 votes to place. Not only can you place your votes all on different people (1-1-1-1), you may place your votes like this (1-2-1), or like this (2-2). Though you may not place 3 votes on the same person. Once the votes are in, the three people with the most votes will be nominations, while the fourth person with the most votes will be named the stand-by. The stand-by position is a warning to whomever is in it, while you’re not up for eviction, you lose the privalege to vote at the end of the week, instead you should be focussing on your relationships in the house.
In creating the nomination patterns like this, I would hope it would naturally limit the amount of people in one alliace, discouraging “Bomb Squad” wannabes from emerging victorious.

You will not be able to see how many votes everyone received with the exception of the three nominees, and the stand-by.
This is to balence out the amount of thought put into the free game, hopefully it will keep players from overthinking their nominations, and it will allow new users to try to make big moves without being punished for failure. Allowing new players to find what strategies work best for them.

The veto competition will have a 50/50% chance of being a skill based competition or a luck based competition. All houseguests will have the chance to participate in the veto competition. Allowing new players to get used to the competitions.

Once the veto is over, the winner is revealed, and will decide to take down a nominee, or keep the stand-by safe. If the veto is used, the person that the veto was used on will become the stand-by, and the stand-by will become the third nominee.

Once the veto ceremony is over, everyone will vote, not for an eviction, but for safety. Houseguests that are nominated, or on stand-by, will not vote for safety. The person with the most votes will become safe, and the two other nominees will be simultaniously evicted. The person with the least amount of safety votes being placed lowest.
The stand-by will not vote simply for the sake of consistancy; if the stand-by votes at final 5, there would be a tie, very often.

This format will continue to play out until final three. In the final three, there will be no votes for nominations, and no votes for safety. The final three will participate in one last veto competition. Instead of making them wait for 12 hours like in a fasting, the competition scores will be revealed in 30 minutes, and the winner of the Veto comp, will win 1st place, 2nd and 3rd placements will be determined by the comp scores.

1st place will recieve 10$ & 5 points
2nd & 3rd place will recieve 5$ & 3 points
4th & 5th place will recieve 3$ & 1 point.

3 Minutes for noms
2 minutes for PoV
1 minute for PoV decision
3 minutes for safety vote.
= 9 Minute days = 54 minute game total

I like these ideas, but can we please have an update on how the actual site is coming along? Have any of these ideas actually been made into reality yet in the coding?
Sent by jwbrine,Aug 9, 2017
I don't like that honestly. Still gives a lot of power to premades.

raverkid by putting someone in stand by bigger alliances will run the game more because they can essentially nullify someone votes

This is weird

In the game mode, it would not be good strategy to align with everyone based on the fact that you're voting against four people every round. Alliances can really only succeed in groups of 3-5 because of that. People will eventually learn that, and adapt to the gameplay. But please, continue to discuss this with me, it can only help me make the website better!

The stand-by doesn't get a vote, because at final five, that means 2 people are voting for safety, and it could cause a tie, wayyy too often. I think it's something I will keep in mind, and watch the games and see how it plays out, and adjust that as we go along, but for now, consistency would be MUCH easier to code.

GrrrImABear
What makes you say that? And weird in a good way? Bad way? Neutral way?

jwbrine
I cannot lie to you, nothing has been coded, before randomize came back, we were trying out a structure where a professional was teaching a group of volunteers, and it fell apart way too easily, now we have someone that is willing to just dive in and do the work, and hopefully we will see some coding progress.

I can't wait for this to become a thing and hopefully it doesn't flop like Scoderk did.

The winner of the veto comp wins first?? People who suck at comps or new players will never win.
Sent by tashi,Aug 9, 2017
raverkid will you be able to make it so inacts will be auto evictedafter a certain amount of time they are away?
Sent by Brad13535,Aug 10, 2017
raverkid people are just going to have 8 person alliance for the first part of the game. Serious players with any intellect would do this to just like I said nullify any oppositions threats votes. So by doing this if people do join in a big premade the other people not part would have to immediately formulate a plan and communicate efficiently enough to stop that premade from picking them off. This voting option leaves little no way to counter and early game premade. Unless other formulate an alliance of at least half of what the premade is bringing. No one would allocate 1-1-1-1 because only 3 people go up. If your goal is to not be one of the initial 3 noms the smarter options are almost always going to be 1-2-1 or 2-2. So for this to work I hope it isnt a super speedy game or your site will have built in premade prevention coding like zwooper
Sent by koolness234,Aug 10, 2017
raverkid By allowing people to place 3 noms on a person. Could easily fix the premade problem because then a lot less people can fuck up a premade if they plan smart

u can't do 2 mins for pov wtf the comp lasts 150 seconds

That's why the competitions have a higher chance to be luck. The way that comps work on stage8teen, is that they're separated into two pools of competitions, luck, and skill. In other games, the skill will have a much higher percentage, but in this game it's 50/50. There will also be a page here you can practice the comps, so mew players can try to get a better grasp on them.

rawr25
This is a new site hun. I'm games, the comps are going to automatically start, chat will be disabled and everyone will be participating. They will also be shorter for the sake of time. The comp will automatically end when the two minutes is up.

I agree with koolness234 about the allowing people to place 3 noms to one person.
4 votes to be placed in either a (1-2-1) (2-2) or (3-1) pattern are a great idea. It leaves you a better chance to go against a premade in this sense for a longer section of the game versus having to get your cards together Week 1 or lose entirely.

Will #Stage8Teen be ages 18+. It's necessary it is, learn from Carlos' mistakes!!!! RaverKid

Wait this is amazing!
Is this gonna be a real thing

It will be 16+, but there really won't be any enforcement on it. It'll serve as a warning for parents that the site really is not appropriate. If the kid is too young to make their own accounts online, they shouldn't be here. But if they lie while registering, we cant do anything about it.

Yes sir. Ive got a team of people and we are working to create a new website to replace tengaged.

im starting to think that stage8teen thing is just a big sham
Sent by RobbX2,Aug 10, 2017
I personaly don't like two things:
a) the double eviction. i just think it makes the game more scary rather than tense, because being nominated is probable eviction. I think there needs to be a healthy balance between safety and fearing of your safety while nominated. For example, if I was nominated and was not in an alliance, i would probably just give up because there is no one to save me and only 1 nominee stays anyway. But if 2 nominees got to stay it would give me enough hope to power through and want to stay, yet I'd still be nervous.
b) Ideally the days need to be a bit longer in my opinion so there is enough time to talk. 9 minutes will go by very quickly.

Other than that though I think it is really good!! I'm really intrigued. I hope this criticism helps?

Apologies for the late response!
The reason that everything is so short is kind of a marketing ploy. If the first game someone plays on the website is too damn long, they're not going to stick around. The goal was to get this game under an hour, therefore, the double evictions & the fast paced game is necessary. It will not be a theme throughout the website.
