Dancing With The Stars S23 Power Rankings (Round Five) Oct 11, 2016
imageWe knew Babyface was going home, but Vanilla Ice was a huge shock. I just assumed people loved him and were voting for him. I also didn’t expect Maureen to have as much support as she did. This week was emotional…VERY emotional. So who made us cry the most? And who made us the most impressed?

9. Amber Rose and Maksim Chmerkovskiy- This was a big yikes. How it got 8s I don’t understand?! It’s her time to go, I don’t really need to elaborate on it. Everything was messy as can be, and I think Maks is just about as done as the rest of America is.

8. Ryan Lochte and Cheryl Burke- His most improved moment. Unfortunately, he is still one of the worst technical dancers of the bunch. He has the fan support, and the story, and even the emotion. It’s the actual footwork he has to work on. It’s slowly getting better and better, but once a few more people are gone, he doesn’t stand much of a chance.

7. Maureen McCormick and Artem Chigvinstev- I have never been her biggest fan, but I will admit, her story was quite emotional and had me on the verge of tears. The dancing, however, fell a little flat for me, and could have been so much more exciting. It was pleasant, but pleasant won’t get you votes…ESPECIALLY not going first of the night.

6. Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy- Amber, Ryan, and Maureen are definitely the weakest dancers. Laurie is by no means a weak dancer, but this dance was just way below what we’ve seen in the past. Her biggest issue going forward is the fact that people are expecting perfection now. If Marilu, Calvin, Jana, or Terra danced at this caliber, it’d be far more acceptable, but being an early front runner has put pressure on Laurie. Let’s hope she can bounce back and do better next week.

5. Marilu Henner and Derek Hough- Marilu had the best comeback this week, and I think we owe it all to Derek. Any thoughts of her going too soon can be thrown out the window. This was poised, polished, and near perfection, and easily her best dance yet.

4. Terra Jole and Sasha Farber- She ended the night with the most tears. BOOM, she wins the most emotional story. As for the dancing, it was sweet, but it was more about the emotional connection than the steps to me. Granted, it was gorgeous, but I enjoy Terra when she’s bopping and having a fun time. This was a different side that I loved, but the emotions overwhelmed the footwork itself. Still one of the best of the night.

3. Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold- It may not have been entirely memorable by the end of the night, but goddamn it was fun! It was smooth, as Calvin does best, and the end moment with Jim Rice was nostalgic and touching, in an odd way. He is really an amazing dancer, and gets better and better every week.

2. Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko- We knew she had it in her, and she laid it all out on the line. Jana danced beautifully, and that falling move of her being caught by Gleb was easily my favorite moment of dancing tonight. The dance as a whole was heartfelt, passionate, and Jana earned a contender status from me.

1. James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess- James tops the leaderboard, and these rankings, again. It was near perfection for a reason. His posture is uncanny, and his performances are getting better and better every week. I hope he doesn’t fall into the same trap Laurie went into, and that he keeps getting better and possibly even a perfect score next week! Also, a huge props for dancing after such a horrible accident. James is a hero in more than one way.

James, Laurie, Calvin, Jana, and Terra. I think one of these five is our winner. Marilu is great too, but Derek has had better partners in the past, and I don’t see this being his year. However, Marilu is safe as can be. Between Maureen, Amber, and Ryan, I think Amber deserves to go home on dancing alone, but I’ve always thought Maureen didn’t have the greatest support from fans. However, I’ve been proven wrong, so I’m going to go with my gut and say adios to half of the Chmerkovskiy brother duo.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Amber Rose and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hell's Kitchen S16 Power Rankings (Top 15) Oct 11, 2016
imageWell, I was wrong. The women lost, but only because of Gia and Kim, but Jessica was still sent home for volunteering to go up. You NEVER do that! So here’s the ranking, now that the men stand some sort of chance.

15. Gia Young- I can’t imagine a final 10, let alone 14 with Gia in it. She’s incredibly annoying, stuck up and rude. It’s her time to go, and it seems like Ramsay really wanted to send her home. Maybe without Jessica, we’ll get some real nominations and finally send Gia home.

14. Kimberly Roth- If not Gia, it has to be Kim as the weakest member of the red team. She has proven time and time again that she can bounce back, but then she goes back to sucking again. Her days are numbered too, but at least she’s pleasant to work with.

13. Devin Simpson- Devin hit a ton of bumps in the road this week, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he was sent home soon. He just doesn’t have that star power it takes to lead a kitchen.

12. Aaron Smock- Aaron seemed to bounce back a bit this week, but he’s still very undereducated, so I’m not sure how long he will hold off.

11. Paulie Giganti- Paulie had so much potential for me, but blew it with this episode. He’s a roller coaster of good and bad, but when he’s bad, he sinks the ship. He’s lucky he had his team to back him up. The only thing saving him is his girth to survive and bounce back.

10. Wendy Mendez- Wendy has been consistently fine in the kitchen. Fine, not excellent.

9. Aziza Young- Aziza has also been fine. Hasn’t made too many mistakes in service, so she’s in the middle.

8. Andrew Pearce- Andrew makes mistakes, but smoothly recovers. I think he had a strong first showing, so Ramsay expects him to be fine even when he screws up. Not a bad position to be in.

7. Matt Hearn- I think Matt trying to walk out was the best thing for Matt. I think he bounced back strong and better than ever. I can totally see him, the guy who yelled in Ramsay’s face in week one and tried walking out in week 3, having a story arc of the underdog who redeems himself, changes for the better, and actually excels in this competition.

6. Koop Wynkoop- We have seen nothing bad from Koop so far in dinner services, and I hope it stays that way.

5. Shaina Hayden- The next four are women who have been consistently good in the kitchen, and who have been solid for weeks.

4. Heidi Parent- See above.

3. Heather Williams- See above.

2. Kimberly Ann Ryan- See above (the best of the women).

1. Johnny McDevitt- Okay, we finally saw the Blue Team win, so you have to give some credit to their leader, Johnny. Johnny has been trying his best and this week, he prevailed. So, I’ll give him the top spot why not!

So, really, there are four solid women, one solid guy, and the rest are honestly toss ups. This could be the worst cast we’ve ever had. I still think Gia is the worst contestant we’ve ever had.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Gia Young

Big Brother OTT Power Rankings (Top 12) Oct 9, 2016
imageCornbread is the first casualty of BBOTT, so I’m 1/1, and now it’s time to make predictions for this week.

12. Monte Massongill- Seeing Alex win is good for my liking, but bad for the previous HOH’s. Monte tried to go after Jason, who Alex seems to get along with well, so Monte could see himself going home this week. I wouldn’t be surprised.

11. Scott Dennis- Scott is making alliances with a lot of people, but unfortunately, not America. I just don’t think he is very well liked and could very well be the nominated person by America, and as we saw with Cornbread, a lot of people want to please America.

10. Shane Chapman- I could see Alex wanting to split up the showmance, and Shane is way more dangerous than Danielle in terms of gameplay. I could see him being our casualty this week.

9. Danielle Lickey- Danielle managed to stay safe last week, but if Alex’s vote wasn’t foreshadowing enough, Alex could easily nominate Danielle this week. It’s a safe bet, considering she was a pawn last week, and she is in a showmance. Big no-nos, don’t go up as a pawn, and don’t get in a showmance. It’ll make you a constant target, so Danielle shouldn’t feel safe.

8. Morgan Willett- You would expect her to be safe considering her sister is HOH, but I keep thinking of how ironic it would be for Morgan to go home on Alex’s HOH! It would be memorable, so I wouldn’t count it out.

7. Shelby Stockton- Shelby seems to be fine with everyone, but is always at the trail end of the safety ceremonies, and it may just be that people don’t really hate her, but don’t necessarily like her. She’s a wildcard for me.

6. Kryssie Ridolfi- Kryssie is emotional, but in a pretty good position this week. She got the care package, which was a huge plus for her and Jason. The only problem is that this may make her a target in some people’s eyes, but this will come later down the line. With Alex, she’s fine.

5. Neeley Jackson- Neeley seems to be everyone’s best friend, and has not been considered by nearly anyone. And in this game, that’s a good position to be in.

4. Justin Duncan- Justin is Monte’s big rivalry and enemy, but Alex seems to be taking Justin’s side, which is another peg at Monte, and a big plus for Justin. Justin is going to be a secret weapon in getting the other side of the house out, and should be safe for that.

3. Whitney Hogg- Whitney is adorable, ugh, I love it, and she is safe this week. She may be floating a bit, but I don’t care. She’s one of the safer houseguests, especially with this girls’ alliance.

2. Jason Roy- My boy Jason is fighting hard, but it’s paying off. He’s someone who is not afraid to play hard, and I like that. He’s safe from Kryssie’s care package, and gaining lots of support from the house and America, which is awesome.

1. Alex Willett- Two weeks in a row, and Alex is on top. She had the strongest first impressions, and won this HOH. She has all the power, which may be bad next week, but right now, she’s sitting pretty.

Alex, Jason, and Kryssie are really the only three I see playing the game super hard. Monte is playing well too, but is just on the wrong side of the house, and I could see him taking the bullet this week.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Monte Massongill

Survivor S33 Power Rankings (Top 17) Oct 9, 2016
imageWell, this was yet another blindside, but we’ve seen it coming from the moments David found that idol. But the great thing is, David didn’t even need to use the idol, because Jessica had everyone flop sids again. Remember when Jessica disappeared for episode 2, but now she’s relevant again? Exactly.

17. Lucy Huang- We have heard near nothing from Lucy, except during the challenge when she was being sassy and giving attitude. The preview shows that there is going to be drama in the Gen X tribe, but coming from Lucy. At least we’ll get air time we’ve been waiting for from her. Unfortunately, she’s probably going to be a target by running her mouth, and we’ve seen that the ones who run their mouths go home early.

16. Figgy Figueroa- I think Figgy still has the potential to go home. While Michaela is wishy washy, she hasn’t had the guts to send her home, but with this push from Zeke and Adam’s side, it may work. Figgy and Taylor may be gold in a tribe swap with David and Cece, but until then, she’s always going to be a target.

15. CeCe Taylor- She seems to be hanging on well, but if the tribe loses again, they may just want to target their weakest, and unfortunately, that’s CeCe.

14. Hannah Shapiro- I could see her tribe turning on her because she’s not the best in challenges, and she was trying to make amends with Zeke and Adam. While Zeke and Adam may not be going for it, if Figgy and Taylor see that Hannah is trying to make amends, they might not trust her on their side, and axe her.

13. Bret LaBelle- Bret and Chris were left on the outs of this vote, but they’re two strong dudes. Their tribe probably needs them to win, but in Survivor, sometimes gameplay overruns physical competitions, and right now, Bret and Chris are on the minority of their tribe.

12. Chris Hammons- Like with Bret, I think Chris is fine, but you never know. They were on the outs of this vote.

11. Zeke Smith- They are in the same position as Bret and Chris are in, in that Adam and Zeke were on the outs of their tribe in the previous vote. But Zeke is trying his best, and seems to be trying hard with Michaela, and if he can also make up with Hannah, he might be fine. If not, I think he may be a big target.

10. Adam Klein- Adam is in a better position than Zeke because I think Zeke is a more blatant and obvious gamer, while Adam is trying to lay low and rely on social game. I think Adam just has to blend back in, and make people forget that he voted against them.

9. Ken McNickle- I like Ken a lot, and think he is in a good position now. But if Jessica, Lucy, and Sunday sway back to their original alliance, Ken may be in trouble. He’s admitted he’s on the outs with his tribe, but now that he’s back on the majority, he needs to maintain his position.

8. Taylor Stocker- I don’t think his tribe can afford to lose him. Then again, he’s in a showmance.

7. Will Wahl- I think Will and Michaela are in the same boat. People are trying to sway both of them to their sides, and Will seems to be the one who won’t budge.

6. Michaela Bradshaw- Michaela on the other hand may have tricks up her sleeve, and still doesn’t seem to trust Figgy. For this, she is a more powerful player right now, and deserves a slightly higher rank than Will. But she is in the middle for sure.

5. Jessica Lewis- Jessica is back in the game, and made a huge power move. She now just has to make sure Chris and Bret don’t go after her, but judging from previews, Lucy seems to be the big target, so Jessica should be fine. She’s finally back in it, after an invisible edit last episode, and I’m liking her more and more.

4. David Wright- David has an idol. It’s all about when he’s going to use it. He seems like he’ll use it when a good time arises, but the idol is the only thing truly keeping David safe, until he solidifies an alliance of more than just CeCe and Ken.

3. Michelle Schubert- Michelle made a big move a few weeks ago, but laid low in the last episode. So she seems fine for now, and her and Jay are in the perfect position to control a lot of minds.

2. Jay Starrett- Jay is the golden child on the Millennials tribe. He and Michelle have been able to keep things their way, but Hannah Figgy and Taylor are getting the backlash for it. No one is catching on, so Jay and Michelle are in a super good position.

1. Sunday Burquest- Yay Sunday! Sunday is really fitting in well with this tribe, and is not the weakest one on the tribe either. She is the only person on her tribe who has no sort of target on her. Chris and Bret were on the outs of that vote, CeCe is weak, David and Ken have admitted to being on the outs, Jessica just flopped the Paul vote, and Lucy is shown to be somewhat of a negative character in the next episode. Sunday is in the middle, but probably in the safest position of any of the Gen X tribe. I love it when my first boot predictions prove me wrong. I could see her being like Shambo, that cooky older woman who slithers in to the end.

Sunday may not be a super gamer, but she is the safest Gen X member (aside from David with the idol, but for some reason, he is never safe in my book). As for Millennials, Michelle and Jay seem to be good, and seem to be the puppet masters of their tribe. Everyone seems to be vulnerable, but the ones who are most vulnerable are those on the outs of the vote…Chris, Bret, Zeke, and Adam, but WAIT…Lucy is shown to be a “new leader” but this could lead to the same boot that we just saw with Paul. So for that, I’m gonna take a longshot and say Lucy goes home.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Lucy Huang

Big Brother OTT Power Rankings (Pre-Game: Top 13) Oct 5, 2016
imageDISCLAIMER: I promise, from now on, I will write these blogs after every eviction to keep the week fair and square and less predictable! But this week, we already know who the final nominees are, so I’m sort of cheating in a way, so I apologize. But these are my SEASON predictions! After tomorrow, I will start doing week by week predictions!

A new season of Big Brother is here, but it’s a brand new series of itself: BIG BROTHER OVER THE TOP! It’s exciting so far, and bringing some new elements that I like (with some, of course, that don’t really work). As we see this week, there are a lot of characters in this house, but for the most part, it’s a pretty solid cast! So let’s rank them up!

13. Cornbread Ligon- I liked Cornbread when he walked through the door, but he is obviously not well loved by America (he was nominated by us!), and he is aligned with the “challenge beasts,” who are obviously going to be targeted soon. Whether he survives this week or not, America won’t vote for him to win, so ranking him this low is the safest bet. He just won’t win.

12. Kryssie Ridolfi- I like Kryssie, but already, she’s playing with lots of emotion, but almost in a negative way. I think she is very strong in fighting for what she wants and what she believes in, which is good when you’re actually in danger, but when you’re not, it’s just paranoia. I’m worried people will think she’s over-paranoid, and may send her home soon.

11. Shane Chapman- Monte is of course going to have some enemies after his HOH rein, but I think people would be smarter to knock out Shane first. Shane is not only in a bromance with Monte, but he is ALSO in a showmance with Danielle (already? lol). That is a dangerous spot to be in, so Shane may be one of those earlier eliminations.

10. Danielle Lickey- Danielle claimed that she hates Zakiyah and her game, but right now, that’s the game she’s playing. She got herself immediately into a showmance, and is now on the block as a pawn, laying low, and floating through the week. I hope she makes some moves, because if she doesn’t, she’ll end up in the middle of the road just like Z. Also, she’s in a showmance, which never helps.

9. Jason Roy- I am hoping, HOPING that Jason makes it far. I love Jason, I think he’s one of the best pre-jury players to play this game. However, being the only returner, he has a huge target on his back, and I don’t think that target is ever going away, so unfortunately, I think he may be shooting for at least single digits (aka, ninth place).

8. Monte Massongill- Monte won the HOH this week (but did he really win, or was he handed it?), which is fine for him now, but could make him a target going forward. Fortunately, I think his ally Shane is going to be a bigger target, and while Monte may find himself on the block, he’s a good competitor and may pull out some vetoes. But it’ll be an up-hill slope, and his hope is keeping the numbers on his side.

7. Justin Duncan- Justin has been more likable than I expected. He’s just there doing his thing. I don’t know how much of his gameplay we’re gonna see, but he’ll be someone we enjoy watching, just cause he’s Justin. I think he’ll end somewhere in the middle of the road.

6. Morgan Willett- At SOME point, Morgan and Alex are gonna be busted. If they make it through the whole season, I’ll be thoroughly impressed. If they don’t, I see Morgan being a bigger target by the house. Alex plays the game better, but people will be more threatened by Morgan’s social game and likability, and flirting.

5. Whitney Hogg- Whitney is super cool, and I really like this girls alliance going on. She is tight with Monte and Shane though, so I don’t know how long this all female alliance will stand, but Whitney has a good shot if she lays low. But laying low will only get you about 5th place. She probably won’t win unless she really makes some moves. In a normal season, maybe, but in this season, America is going to award gameplay.

4. Neeley Jackson- I love her so much, she is so much fun. I could see people keeping her around because she’s a good vote, and not too threatening, and then see her getting cut in the end before the finals. She is in a better position than I expected her to be in, so as long as she keeps it up, she may be someone we see for a while.

3. Shelby Stockton- Shelby walked through the door, and I groaned. But now that it’s been some time, I’m loosening up to her. America loves her, as I’ve seen from social media, so I think she stands a good chance.

2. Scott Dennis- Scott is the person I’d probably be happiest to see win, just because of the opening episode, seeing him walk in first like a kid in a candy store. This is truly a game for Scott, and from day one, Scott said he was going to play hard, be a villain, and play different sides. IN any other season, that would be a dangerous thing. But in a season ruled by America (who loved Evel Dick), we LOVE villains and big moves, so Scott may actually be in a good spot to make it far. I like his motives and objectives. Now, he just has to execute, or he’ll be a boring floater like Steve was before he won.

1. Alex Willett- I love the sisters, but Alex is the gamer. Alex is the one with the fire in her eyes, and I think Alex has an amazing shot of winning. By the time people find out the secret, IF they find out the secret, it may be too late, and Alex may have a super alliance going strong. Winning may mean sacrificing her sister at some point, but in all, Alex would be the person to do it. She’s not Liz or Julia, and she’s gonna be cutthroat no matter what, which is why she’s my winner pick for the season.

Well, it’s still very early, but right off the bat, Alex, Scott, and Jason are playing my favorite games so far. Jason just has the veteran card working against him, so I don’t think he has much of a chance unless he wins a lot of comps. Danielle is likable, but has to play a better game and dump the showmance. Shane and Monte are dangerous, and the girls alliance is probably going to be strong going forward too. This may actually be the one that holds up…or not…Anyways, either Cornbread, Kryssie, or Danielle are going home tonight, and it’s not Danielle. I think we’ll be losing that George charm this week, as per America’s wishes.

PREDICTIONS:

Going Home- Cornbread Ligon

Top 10 Tuesdays: Top 10 "Not-So-Scary" Halloween Films Oct 5, 2016
imageTop 10 Tuesdays is back (sorry this is being posted on Wednesday, but I did WRITE it on Tuesday). And, in spirit of the start of October, I am ranking the Top 10 "Not So Scary" Halloween films! This could be family films, or just comedic adult Halloween films. Either way, you don't need to worry about being scared, these are all just fun and joy!

Honorable Mentions: Sleepy Hollow, Twitches Too, Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!, Casper

10. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone- This is probably one of my top three on the list, but since some people don’t consider it a “Halloween movie,” I’ll keep it here at number 10, but it definitely deserves credit. This movie revolutionized perception on witches, wizards, and magical beasts, and sparked one of the greatest franchises ever. It’s only justice that we put it on this list. The acting from the child actors were so fantastic and filled with potential that launched all four lead children into fantastic careers. Daniel Radcliffe has been seen on Broadway, and in several films, Rupert Grint has been on Broadway, Emma Watson is in the upcoming “Beauty and the Beast” remake, as well as a ton of other projects, and Tom Felton has been seen in some action films and tv projects since the franchise. This is one of the most influential fantasy films ever. Is it a Halloween film? Not really, but it’s got wizards, so here it is!

9. Frankenweenie- This was Tim Burton’s recent animated project, and while it lacked some of the charm that his original Halloween animated hit had (we’ll get to it later), it still managed to put a twist on the Frankenstein story, and bring a heartwarming subject to hearts. It was well animated, and a good family watch.

8. Twitches- This Disney Channel original movie (or DCOM) was so successful that it sparked an honorably mentioned sequel. This film was fun, and so relatable, being geared toward teenagers, and starring Tia & Tamara! This was a guilty pleasure of mine, and I always like to journey back to it every Halloween season!

7. Edward Scissorhands- Another Tim Burton film, starring the legendary Johnny Depp. There is nothing negative to say about this film. The characters are creepy and whimsical, but relatable and beautiful when portrayed by these thoughtful, talented actors. A classic, and perfect film for a cold October night with the family.

6. Halloweentown- This was the DCOM that started it all. Debbie Reynolds is fantastic, with a great cast of teenagers. This was a revolutionizing thing for Disney Channel, as Halloween films on Disney Channel became so popular (even releasing two or more sequels of this film itself). This was a great journey of fun, spookiness, and adventure, and is something that will be playing on every kid’s tv at some point this season.

5. Monster House- For a family movie, there are some scary bits to this one, making it one of the best family Halloween adventures. It’s a great transition to the present day Horror Flick, transitioning smoothly through colorful animation, and some humor and wit, and of course, a resolution. These elements prepare for the less comedic horror films in the future, but still rein true to some of horror’s greatest features. And the animation is beyond stunning.

4. The Rocky Horror Picture Show- While not exactly a family film, this is still a “non-scary” Halloween film, so we included it. It’s songs are iconic, and super catchy, and there’s no one who doesn’t know at least a few tunes to this musical tale. It is such a cult classic, that it is played in hundreds of theaters before Halloween, and has been one of the most popular events for Halloween fanatics, and even your average Joes looking for a good time. The characters are memorable, and the songs addicting. If you haven’t seen it, see it!

3. Young Frankenstein- In honor of the late, great, Gene Wilder, we had to rank this high. This combined humor with the typical Halloween thrill and spook that we all love to endure. The jokes hit spot on, and Gene Wilder’s portrayal as Dr. Frankenstein is perfect, and one to remember forever. One of his career’s best, and one of Halloween’s best.

2. The Nightmare Before Christmas- While I’ll admit, I haven’t seen this in a while, there are still bits that stick with me. It’s that memorable and iconic. The songs are remarkable, and the characters of Sally and Jack are legendary, and one of the most branded Halloween couples in the world of merchandise. These characters that Tim Burton created are so fricken cool and awesome, and we love every bit of this movie. It’s a little creepy, but that’s what we want for Halloween isn’t it?! And those debating that it’s a Christmas movie, I’m settling the debate now: It’s a Halloween movie, and not only that, but a Halloween Icon.

1. Hocus Pocus- My favorite Halloween film, scary or family, modern or old. This is the best way to introduce children to Halloween, or your friends to classic films, or for yourself to just have a blast. The three sisters are lovely and enchanting, the heroes of our tale are relatable and fun, and there is no better jam than “I Put a Spell on You.” Seriously, Bette Middler is sensational, and if there was anything better than this film, I’d like to argue and debate right now. This is just such a classic, and whether you think it’s outdated or not, appreciate it for what it is: a fun, family film that captures everything we know and love about one of the best holidays.
