Yesterday a user made several blogs about possible harming a school and alluded at gun violence while referencing other school shootings. I and several others saw the blogs and became increasingly concerned. I know many people post troll blogs on this site but these were blogs about a very serious issue in America, I honestly could not sit by and just take the chance that this was a joke. I reported the person to the authorities promptly. It has been a busy night and I was on the phone with several agencies reiterating what I said. My towns local sheriffs office even showed up at my house, and asked me some questions and I showed them the website and the user in question. It turns out the user did live near the school he made threatening remarks too, and confessed to making those remarks and was apprehended today. Remember that your actions and post on the internet have consequences and that even if you think no one will see them, you can get in trouble. Furthermore, it is never acceptable to joke about school shootings as they are a sad reality in our country, and no one should be making any jokes of that matter. While it was scary dealing with police all night, and even letting them into my house. I feel like I did the right thing, because if I had a child that went to my school I would have wanted someone to warn the authorities as well.
Lemjam6 and in my opinion you dont make blogs and jokes and mail several users threatening that you are going to shoot up an elementary school you live close, and he confessed to making those threats furthermore joking about shooting a school is a criminal offence

Regardless if it was over the top or not, shitty people should be punished for being shitty people and making “jokes” about shooting up a school should fall under that. Maybe he’ll think again next time before making a joke like that.
Wow. Sad to think anyone would think that was something to joke about. I wonder where his mother was when he was supposed to be learning empathy and respect for others. Probably in an alley somewhere. Thanks Josh for standing up and stopping something from happening. If he can make these jokes it wouldn’t surprise me if he took the actions.
eoin No he ruined his own life by making accusations and named a school he was near and said he was going to conduct violence against kids and said he wanted to surpass the kill amount on other school shootings. It isnt my job to reach out for it
You did the right thing. Don’t let anyone make you think otherwise. If that person was joking? Now they know it was not something to joke about. If that person needs help? Maybe now they will get help.
honestly i didnt even know this was going on yesterday but thats sickening that people would joke if it was but regardless jokes should be taken serious like this and its amazing that if it wasnt a joke you saved so many lives in that elementary school saved so many families from having to grieve and everything that in itself is an award :)

Honestly i'm thankful someone realizes there isn't some sort of divide between online and offline. Like you aren't suddenly allowed to say awful things and do horrific shit just because you're some "anonymous" avatar online.
Actions have consequences, and some of y'all will learn that the hard way.
The fact that people believe you're in the wrong is very telling of their judgement. We see time and time again how school shooters often post on social media disturbing content or show signs of doing such actions - something that can be preventable. When we don't take action, things may happen that result in tragedy. Anyone who disagrees with your decision to REPORT this incident is either desperate for the attention through argument or just as disturbed. Good for you!
