Dear Diary,
My name is Emily Witten and I murdered someone. This murder was unlike any other though, it wasn't in cold blood and it was someone I love. She made me do it, or did she? At this point I can't be sure of which it was. I was able to cover it up, but now it is all coming back to haunt me. I don't know what to do. Should I tell someone? Should I keep it a secret? The stress is getting to me, as well as the guilt, I don't know how much longer I can take it.
Untouchable At First:
Alexis Slatin was my best friend, as well as one of the most popular girls at school. I, on the other hand was a bit of a nerd, which confused people when they saw us together. It was no surprise to us though. Having been friends since kindergarten we grew close, and quickly. Now after a span of 12 years, me and Alexis were still friends. Here's a bit more about me, so you can understand my situation;
My name is Blake Anderson, I am 17 years old, and i'm not the best looking, or at least in my opinion. I have brown hair that swoops down above my eyes, and sky blue eyes, and a lightly defined six pack, but i'm not that great to look at. On the other hand, I am a loyal friend, who can be easily trusted. For that reason, I think me and Alexis became such great friends, but this all leads to my dilemma. Here is how everything played out.
It was Valentines Day and everyone was handing out boxes of chocolates, flowers, and many other items to their boyfriends and girlfriends. The only people in the room who weren't giving out anything, was Alexis and myself. I looked down to my bag to see the roses I had gotten for her, as well as the box of chocolates, and the card that read; Will you be my Valentine? I stood there nervously for a short while before I finally had enough nerve to walk over. I stood up with the items I had gotten, and quickly walked over to the table where she sat, I then handed her the items and smiled. She looked over the flowers and candy carefully before picking up the card and reading it. I was beginning to get worried at this point; she hadn't made a facial expression yet, and she just continued reading. After she finished reading the card she looked up to me and gave me a small smile.
She then whispered, "I'm sorry Blake, but I can't be your valentine."
Frowning, I turned away and walked back to my seat. I sat there for the rest of the hour without even shooting a glance across the room to where she sat. My heart felt like it had been shattered in two.
Finally the bell rang and I grabbed my bag before quickly moving to my next class. Once inside I sat down and took out the items needed to do my work, shortly after Alexis walked in and walked over. She put a hand on my back and whipped me around, she then stared into my eyes.
She leaned in and spoke, " I don't know if I like you or not, but it wouldn't feel right to not give you a chance."
"You really wanna give us a try?" I asked.
She then smiled and nodded. I was grinning the whole rest of the hour, and when I walked into the hall, she was waiting. I walked right over and kissed her. She smiled and grabbed my hand before we exited the school and made out way back to our houses.
I thought to myself; Even though she didn't feel the safe, she was willing to give me a shot.
A grin made its way across my face once again, and I breathed a sigh of relief. I had the girl I loved, now all I had to do, was try and keep her.
I'm calling from the outermost reaches of space. Someone has killed all of my crew. There is an evil presence on this ship. I must evade it for as long as I can, lest I die not knowing the truth behind this tragic accident.
After sending out the message the radio went to static, and the dimly lit room grew eerier. Roland turned to the mirror that sat on the wall, and gazed at his facial features. His sky blue eyes now bloodshot, his lips chapped and cracked, not to mention his deathly pale skin made him look sick. He then noticed that his dark-brown hair had grown out and hung just above his eyebrows. He had overcome a complete transformation from the day he left on the ship a little over a month ago. He stepped back from the mirror and took a quick glance towards the doorway where a large figure was beginning to emerge. He turned and sprinted through the alternate door, which was to the left of him. Roland moved swiftly and carefully down the following corridors turning back every so often to check for the persuer. Eventually after what felt like an eternity of running, he reached a small door. Roland took another glance back before lifting the door handle, and opening it up, revealing a small hallway.
He stepped inside the hallway and followed it to an even smaller room, the engine room. Upon entering the room he found something unusual; the wires that connected the battery to the engine had been clipped. Roland began to wonder if it really was a presence that had attacked them, he had started to believe it was something else, something human. Roland sat against a wall and slid down it until he was sitting on the floor. He was trying to contemplate his next move, and keep calm. He stared at the floor, ideas, and images flickering through his mind. Memories of the murders he had encountered clouded his thoughts, and made it difficult to concentrate. Eventually he stopped trying to think, and stood up. He moved quickly to the wires and reattached them using a pair of rusted pliers. Once finished reattaching the wires, he walked over to the fuel tank to make sure the ship wasn't running low; and it just so happened that the tank was near full. He then turned and scampered down the small hallway again. He pushed through the doorway and tiptoed down the larger hallway past many corridors, until he came to an abrupt stop.
The lights hung down from the ceiling, off of their hinges. Sparks flying everywhere. fifty yards away, the figure stood, blocking Roland's path to the piloting room.
"I know you're not a ghost or some presence. You are human!" Roland shouted to the figure, but sounding unsure..
The man standing in the smoke stepped out and gave Roland a distorted smile, "You are the only one who could figure it out, if only you had realized sooner, they would be alive."
The man then seemed to disappear and Roland stood confused, and upset. He shed a tear and looked down.
Looking up again he saw the man standing closer to him, only this time, he didn't look human. He looked like a creature of some sort. It looked as though there were spiked bumps on his scalp. Roland then noticed that there were large teeth pressing against the inside of his cheeks. Roland steadied his breathe and picked up a piece of piping from the floor.
"I'm giving you one chance. Back away, and I won't have to hurt you." Roland said in a confident manner.
The man laughed, and peeled off the human flesh that covered his face revealing his true identity. Roland then ran at the creature, but seconds before reaching the creature it flew up onto the ceiling, and looked down at Roland. The creature had thick yellow drool pouring from it's mouth. Roland looked toward the piloting room door and made a run for it. The alien dropped down and followed closely behind.
Roland got up to the door and pulled hard on it's steel handle, opening it slightly. Looking back he noticed the alien was close and quickly slid through the small opening in the door. The alien rammed into the door, causing it to slam shut. Roland then turned the three locks on the left of the steel door into place and sighed out of relief. He turned around to start the ship and suddenly stopped moving, he was frozen in fear. Another alien stood in front of him snarling and gnashing it's teeth. Roland let out a scream, and seconds later, dead silence. Several aliens left the corridors they were in and headed towards the piloting room. The alien that had spoken to Roland earlier stood in front of them all.
"They're next!" He then pointed to the map and the ship headed towards the destination.
