Untouchable At First:
Alexis Slatin was my best friend, as well as one of the most popular girls at school. I, on the other hand was a bit of a nerd, which confused people when they saw us together. It was no surprise to us though. Having been friends since kindergarten we grew close, and quickly. Now after a span of 12 years, me and Alexis were still friends. Here's a bit more about me, so you can understand my situation;
My name is Blake Anderson, I am 17 years old, and i'm not the best looking, or at least in my opinion. I have brown hair that swoops down above my eyes, and sky blue eyes, and a lightly defined six pack, but i'm not that great to look at. On the other hand, I am a loyal friend, who can be easily trusted. For that reason, I think me and Alexis became such great friends, but this all leads to my dilemma. Here is how everything played out.
It was Valentines Day and everyone was handing out boxes of chocolates, flowers, and many other items to their boyfriends and girlfriends. The only people in the room who weren't giving out anything, was Alexis and myself. I looked down to my bag to see the roses I had gotten for her, as well as the box of chocolates, and the card that read; Will you be my Valentine? I stood there nervously for a short while before I finally had enough nerve to walk over. I stood up with the items I had gotten, and quickly walked over to the table where she sat, I then handed her the items and smiled. She looked over the flowers and candy carefully before picking up the card and reading it. I was beginning to get worried at this point; she hadn't made a facial expression yet, and she just continued reading. After she finished reading the card she looked up to me and gave me a small smile.
She then whispered, "I'm sorry Blake, but I can't be your valentine."
Frowning, I turned away and walked back to my seat. I sat there for the rest of the hour without even shooting a glance across the room to where she sat. My heart felt like it had been shattered in two.
Finally the bell rang and I grabbed my bag before quickly moving to my next class. Once inside I sat down and took out the items needed to do my work, shortly after Alexis walked in and walked over. She put a hand on my back and whipped me around, she then stared into my eyes.
She leaned in and spoke, " I don't know if I like you or not, but it wouldn't feel right to not give you a chance."
"You really wanna give us a try?" I asked.
She then smiled and nodded. I was grinning the whole rest of the hour, and when I walked into the hall, she was waiting. I walked right over and kissed her. She smiled and grabbed my hand before we exited the school and made out way back to our houses.
I thought to myself; Even though she didn't feel the safe, she was willing to give me a shot.
A grin made its way across my face once again, and I breathed a sigh of relief. I had the girl I loved, now all I had to do, was try and keep her.
