Mmmm season 1 finale of big little lies!! I recently moved to where this was filmed, so this vibe is really giving like I’m just picturing it all in my head. I really want to go on an ocean drive now and play this it’s such a beautiful cover!!

Dancing on my own by Callum Scott
This is definitely an obvious, almost basic choice, but it’s such a good one. I love this version, specifically cause it’s just a little bit more sad compared to Robyn’s original that is a dance bop. The lyrics and melody though are top tier… so good!

Super fun cover I know the original but didn’t know Amy Winehouse covered! Her vocals are great, the song gets a little repetitive but overall really vibe to it!

This cover is nice, but I like Elton johns version more tbh. And even then I don’t love the song as I think it drags on a little, makes me a little sleepy even though her vocals are great.

I didn’t believe this was a cover at first so I had to look it up!! The song is pretty catchy, but not an absolute favorite of mine. No doubt (even though Gwen Stefani) I wasn’t in love with their sound as much.

This was a good cover! I like this ed Sheeran song (surprisingly cause I don’t like him THAT much). It didn’t wow me or didn’t feel super original, very much a standard cover you’d find on YouTube, but it was still done well.

Song Choice: Believe by Cher
This is one of those songs that the instant I saw it submitted I got excited, and sad that I forgot that this gem was out there. ImIt’s such an amazing song, the sad lyrics but dance bops is such a vibe, and ever since I was a kid I loved it so much so thank you for submitting this!
2nd Place: Solrock
Song Choice: Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani
This shit is bananas! Fun fact I was a Gwen stefani little stan back in elementary school I listened to this album ALOT! I really love this song it’s so so good and gives bad ass from start to finish.

Song Choice: Man-eater by Daryl Hall and John Oates
I love making my dreams come true, and I didn’t think I’ve heard this song before so I was excited to listen. Turns out I knew the song and I really enjoyed listening from start to finish. The sax solo is so good!

The first time I heard this song was watching perks of being a wallflower and I thought it was so fun. It’s weird it actually took me that long to listen to it because it’s such a classic, and I can’t help but sing along every time it comes on. Great song choice!

At first I was like hmm idk this song, but then it started playing and I instantly recognized it. Probably my first time intentionally listening to it, and it’s so good! The bridge was a little weird but overall liked the song.

Song Choice: All For You by Janet Jackson
So an earlier round I think I said I had been listening to Janet for the first time and liking her music. This is my first time hearing this song and I really love the verses but not a huge fan of the chorus which is a bummer. I think I find it a little repetitive, but it is catchy I’ll give it that.

Where was this song during the pump up jam round? I LOVED this song as a kid, and just remember feeling like a bad ass little 11 year old listening to it. I was expecting to love it just as much, but now I really don't like Kanye, I was more critical than normal and didn't find myself digging it as much. It still goes hard though.

Okay I had NO idea this song was a number one hit, and honestly I forgot this song existed but I am so glad I found it! I love this like 90's alt rock syle (wonderwall is a fav that comes to mind) but this one is also really good too. Thank you for bringing this back to the forefront of my mind!

At first I did not know this song, but then when the chorus hit I was like okay yes yes I have heard it in a commercial before. I am a fan of like 80's female pop songs, I really love them, so this was a good selection for that. However, it wasn't really engaging me from start to finish, really only the catchy chorus.

This song is so incredibly fun. I always love when it's used in modern media, as I feel like it has stayed relevant 30 something years later. It's a good song selection, thank you!

Song Choice: Teeth by 5 Seconds of Summer
Actually really enjoy 5SOS which is funny because I am never super into boy bands but I think they have such a more mature sound that other boy bands. This song is fun though, the chorus is def a highlight for me in this song. I do find it a bit overplayed via radio but overall a really solid song.

Song Choice: Wildflower by 5 Seconds of Summer
Oooooh this song is another really good one from five seconds of summer. The build up from the verse to the chorus is SUPER enjoyable to listen to. And then the chorus itself I just can't help but dance and sing along to it. The energy in this song is next level, and the lyrics are great as well.
Overall these are two of my favorite songs from 5SOS so this is an incredibly tough call thank you both for submitting fun, high energy, and tasteful songs. However there can only be one winner..

God this song is really in my top 5 favorite Glass Animals song. The beat drops are like so so so good? I really love the chorus of this song, and ugh like idk it's a very very top tier song for me and my favorite on How to be Human Being.

Song Choice: Waterfalls Coming Out Your Mouth by Glass Animals
THIS ONE TOO! Y'all are killing me right now... I really love this Glass Animals song too. I think this one's lyrics are super fun, with alot of 90's references (like alot of the songs on Dreamland) and has alot of dynamic sounds, ups and downs, I love the bridge the most on thiis song. It is one of, if not my favorite, on Dreamland.

I kinda groaned when I saw the artist.. I am not a big fan of Ellie Goulding, I find her music to be really overplayed on the radio, but this one honestly was not as bad as I was expecting it to be. It was fun, had a nice vibe to it, and sonically I enjoyed it. However, still not anything nearly as good as the other songs we have seen tonight.

Song Choice: Hate Me by Ellie Goulding featuring Juice WRLD
Again, not Ellie Goulding, and I will say having another artist in the mix does take away from the same artist theme we had going tonight. I do like Juice WRLD (RIP) but not as much in this song, maybe because of Ellie. LOL :( And unfortunately, a very overplayed song.

This songgggggggggg is so fucking good. Mariana's Trench can MAKE a pop punk song. There's something about the way the lead singer annunciates the lyrics, the syncopation, the poppy upbeat mixed with a little bit of punk it's just so so good! This song is in my repertoire of pop punk songs and have loved it for years, so I am happy to see it make the list. Thank you!

Song Choice: Every Avenue, “Tell Me I’m A Wreck”
Oh I really really like this song ALOT! I've never heard it before but it's the style of punk music I really enjoy (gives ATL vibes major) I also really like the lyrics, overall a very very solid song. Thank you for sharing!!

Okay so I know Green Day obviously but I don't know this song and I am pleasantly surprised! Oh baby this song eats mhmmm. Epitome of pop punk this song was a HIT back in 2008 and I actually was getting down to old Avril at the gym literally a couple weeks ago. The lyrics are so fun / funny and the song is CATCHY as hell. Great song choice thank you!

Oh this song is eating???? The like techno punk is super unique compared to the other songs submitted and I really dig it. I feel like I should like this song more than I do. Like its an incredibly popular song, but it doesn't REALLY do it for me. I haven't listened in a while to it though and I enjoyed it this listen, specifically the second verse was REALLY good. The chorus is good, but I do find this to be a little expected song choice. Not bad, but probably not the best compared to the others.

Honestly I liked the song sonically and the vocals, but the lyrics were really obnoxious. I was enjoying it at first then they got a little cringey for me not gonna lie which was unfortunate cause I was liking it till the chorus.

This one was def more on the heavier punk side of the genre, but it was pretty good. Again, I do love a female vocalist on punk songs so I enjoyed that it was a female vocalist on a heavier song. It's not my favorite amongst the others, I don't find it to stand out as much but I do think the vocals are the best part of the song.

YOU DID NOT PUT THIS SONG ON HERE I CANNOOOOTTT. Nicki is always a fun one to listen to at the gym, and this song specifically I have def listened to while working out before. It's the the mix of rock and rap that is so damn good. And not just rock it gives like punk rock rap idek it's such such such a good song.

OH YES Kesha. This song is really fun and really good! I remember when Rainbow came out this was up there as one of my favorites. It's a great pump up jam and Kesha singing it just makes it that much more bad ass.

Ok this song is really good! Tbh I listened to all these songs again and this one I liked alot more the second time around. I like the drumline in the background and Ciara as a vocalist is so good so I thought the song was of quality. Good song choice!

Ok this song starter off a little questionable to me, but then the chorus really ate? And then I actually liked this beat drop, which I can be picky about if it's obnoxious. The rap verses were good, not my absolute favorite, but not bad and overall a fun song.

Song Choice: Lizzo, “Good As Hell”
I remember listening to this like a year or two before Lizzo blew up and I REALLY loved it. Since Lizzo has became SO popular, I do feel like it's a fairly safe choice, but it's a good one. I also think Lizzo has better pump up jams, but this one is a nice feel good song that fits the brief really well.
