Welcome to Tyleroni’s Music Taste! As you can see we have some veterans returning from both of our past seasons. There’s also a decent amount of new contestants here to compete for the first time! We’re very excited for this season so let’s get things started.
The format of this season will be straightforward. Tyler and I will be ranking each of your songs individually. The average rankings will decide our tops, and bottoms for the week. If you are the lowest ranked contestant, you will be eliminated.
IF someone submits a song that ends up at the top of my ranking AND Tyler’s ranking for the week, you will receive the POWER OF MON WON👛. This power is from Celebrity Big Brother, as some may know, and it will grant you immunity for the following week.
And for the eliminated contestants.. your journey is NOT over right away. Everyone will have a final chance at safety, with the famous chocolate bar twist taken from Rupauls Drag Race🍫. If you are unfamiliar, this twist will grant one lucky person the chance to re-enter the game after being eliminated. Each of you will grab a chocolate bar right now numbered 1-13, but ONE of them is a predetermined, secret golden bar. After being eliminated, each is you will unwrap your chocolate bar. IF, you find the golden bar inside, you are automatically brought back into the game. Good luck!
NOW LETS GET TO THE MF THEME!!! For round 1, we will be celebrating VALENTINES DAY! Love is in the air, so we want to hear some LOVE SONGS! However, I know there are some BITTER SINGLES IN THE CROWD TN… so everybody will be allowed the choice of submitting a LOVE SONG, orrrr a BREAKUP SONG. All songs will be judged together, and please use this first round to showcase your music taste because you may not get another chance!

This season will be a bit different from last season, as we are BURNING THE MASKS. You will be playing as yourself, and there will be no anonymous component.
The rules are straightforward, you’ll be presented with a theme every round and must submit a song to match the theme. Tyler and I will each rank the songs, and the average placements will determine who wins, and who goes home.

Timburr: Dog Days are Over by Florence and the machine
I mean I’ve definitely heard this song before and I think I like it? I really love the build up of the song, and then the burst into chorus. Like as a song it’s very high quality and I loved listening to it now in like 2021 vs when it first came out. Great song submission!
Solrock: Nights by Frank ocean
I love Frank daddy Ocean ugh but yeah this song is pretty good. This feels like so old for some reason like so college days 😵💫 but I the rap and vocals mix l think he does so well. Okay the like two parts two are so good like I kinda didn’t know that that this song did that. The second part is so so good. Such a good song ❤️
Pheromosa: Ungodly hour by Chloe X Halle
I looooooooved this song when it first came out. I love how I can just vibe to it and overall I think they show off great vocals throughout the song. Since I love this song so much, its not a stand out but I do really love it.
Mawile: A jagged gorgeous winter - the main drag
I knew from listening to this right away I’d like it. It reminds me of some Indy alternative music I’ve listened to before like passion pit which I enjoy. The bridge is really really good oooooh baby yep this is iconic!! Thanks for sharing this with me!!

It’s me Jessie and Ari if they if they test me I’m sorry…. This song is good for Nicki and that’s kinda it I’m gonna say it. Like it’s pretty catchy and was a huge radio success, but listening to it now in 2022 Nicki is the part I still enjoy in this song given that it became so overplayed. I do think I like this one more as a pump up jam than your last one though! It is very high energy and was a success for a reason!
Solrock: Wave Gods - Nas ft. A$AP Rocky & DJ Premier
(Redeeming Songs Released in the Last 6 Months Round)
I did not find this song very dynamic unfortunately. I also don’t love this style of rap, like I don’t think it’s trash but I just can’t get into it. I found the verses to be rather long and the chorus was leaving me wanting more.
Pheromosa: September - Earth Wind and Fire, Covered by Taylor Swift
(Redeeming Fall Vibes Round)
So I know people really don’t like this cover. Some reasons I get, but overall I just love HER in this song and the overall musicality of it, despite it being a cover. This also was after reputation (hella poppy which I LOVE) but this was so different and like so good for her and I think pushed her into stuff like folklore and evermore. Refreshing, whimsical and angelic in a way. Her voice may not be perfect throughout it, but I loved her interpretation of an already super fun song.
Mawile: Paper airplanes - AFI
(Redeeming Punk Jams Round)
I didn’t hate the song but I also wasn’t in love with it either? Normally music that heavy I don’t get into but there were parts that I was liking within the chorus. I actually preferred some of the more aggressive vocals compared to the softer ones. Overall a good song, but not my favorite.

Timburr: This is Me by Kesha
I do looooooove this song, I haven’t listened to Kesha’s version that much but I do love that she sings this too. It’s not like incredibly out there or different, but it’s a good wholesome song so I do love that you chose this for that reason!
Solrock: Doo-Wop (That Thing) - Lauryn Hill
This one is fun! Based on your past submissions, I wouldn’t peg this song to be one that ultimately describes your music taste, but it’s not a bad song at all. The vocals and harmonies are so good. It does get a little repetitive towards the end and then I do love the little end piece dialogue it’s cute!
Pheromosa: Easy by Troy Sivan, Kaycee Musgraves and
This song is amazing! Troye’s original was already like really iconic, I love the lyrics I am OBSESSED WITH when he goes WOOO! And then kacey comes and makes it even better cause it’s literally kacey fucking musgraves. Her pop vocals are so good and I wished I got more. And then mark Ronson makes it even more danceable than it already was. Great great song.
Mawile: Green Eyes by Arlo Parks
The last song of the season did not disappoint!! I loved it, her voice was unique and so so smoooth mixed with the vibey music. Also loved the lyrics and the story they told… kinda sad :/ but overall very beautiful song.

Timburr. I have loved having you play this season, Timburr. My favorite moment of yours was the transition between the weeknd selection and your Amy Winehouse Back to Black!
For the unmasking I think you are becksta20! I have made all my precautions ahead of time and I am stuck whether or not you are Becks or if you are Franz. I decided ultimately you are becksta20
Solrock. Solrock, I loved your music taste this season. I think it was diverse, and left me always excited to see what was coming next. My favorite round you submitted was Take a Slice by Glass Animals. Definitely one of my favorite songs ever and for many good reasons.
For the unmasking, I think this is franzella herself. I have known miss Franz for some time now, and I just get the vibe this is her music taste. I would have thought it could have been Becks but she has already been revealed.

Pheromosa, your songs seemed to have always been very specific to my music taste, however was uniquely your own as well. Mawile, you provided me with the most new songs that I loved throughout the season and introduced me to new artists that I am still listening to now! Congratulations again!

Pheromosa I believe is tyleror for so many reasons. This is his music taste to a T (lol get it) and he put songs that are very specific to him and what I know about him. I am very confident in this! For Mawile then leaves tbrown_47. I think you are Mawile because from what I know of your music taste, it’s a little different, more alternative which is what I think showed in your music selections.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! I had a feeling it would have been the two of you in the end. Tyler, for obvious reasons we share similar music tastes. I will not be having you return for future seasons but feel free to join production as my robot clone to speed things up. TIM! I really thank you for your music taste this season, it was fun, dynamic and I loved most of what you submitted.

Fighter by Christina Aguilera
This song is the pinnacle of fighter songs. While I think it is a little expected, the song really slaps. It does get a little repetitive, but overall I really love this song.
Solrock:
Bad Reputation by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
Ah! I like the genre choice with going rock and roll for this category! This song is really fun, and haven't really ever gotten to listen to it from start to finish. It did feel a little too on point and a bit expected, but overall nice song!

Mmmm yes this song is pretty good. Oh shit the little bridge is so good?? I feel like I did NOT like this song when I was younger, I wasn't a fan of more heavier rock / metal as much as I am now. So listening to this song and really liking it was a nice change!
Litwick:
Burnin' Up by The Jonas Brothers
I. Love. This. Song! Super nostalgic for me, I remember being in middle school when this came out? And being OBSESSED with it. My students also put it on our playlist for events that we put on and so I have been listening to it alot more recently and just overally really have alot of fun with this song.
Mawile:
I Don't Want it All by Kim Petras
AH YES! Kim Petras gives very fairy vibes with this song, I love the upbeat pop of hers, and this is one of the older songs by her I do like.

Boomin' In Your Jeep by Crystal Fighters
This song was a fun one! It was almost a little too basic pop for me, but it's really catchy and gives me summer vibes. Not much else to say about it but I liked it.
Litwick:
Friendly Neighborhood Poltergeist by Rory Webley
I honestly couldn't get into this song at all. I found the lyrics to be really cringey, which made me hard to get into the other parts of the song. The artist seems really young, so it felt a little too childish for me in that sense. I feel like it had potential, but missed the mark.
Mawile:
Circle by Machineheart featuring Vanic
Never heard this song before but it is an interesting choice? I found it to be really repetitive, and hard to get into the electronic portions of it. However, it wasn't bad, but it didn't feel incredibly dynamic either.

My favorite song you chose was defintely Rewind by Kelea. I had NEVER heard of Kelela before listening to this song, and now I have both her albums downloaded and listen often. Song Choice: Thriller by Michael Jackson
This is like the music video of all music videos. I really believe it paved the way for the success of MTV and music videos as a marketing and storytelling tool. It’s so cinematic with the special effects (for the time) and the choreography. The song is good, not amazing but alongside everything else it’s all just so iconic.
Solrock
Song Choice: Brown Skin Girl by Beyonce
Ok I have heard a lot about this song and Blue on it and so I’m happy I finally got to listen and watch the music video. Overall it’s super cute I LOVED the musicals and overall found it lighthearted and really beautiful both the song itself and the video.
Pheromosa
Song Choice: Red Hearse by Red Hearse
So this song I really love, Jack is my ultimate celebrity crush I love him so much and this song is really good, my fav from the project. The music video, I will be honest isn’t AMAZING. It doesn’t make a ton of sense, but I can’t help by laugh at it at the same time. It’s really quirky which is both a strength and a weakness.

Song Choice: Cellophane by FK Twigs
Ok so that music video was really really weird. The song is so gorgeous and will definitely be listening more but the music video scared me a little? It was maybe too weird for me but aesthetically super cool to watch.

Song Choice: In the Morning by Nao
This is another tough one where I think this song was probably my favorite of the night. Added to my phone and definitely listening more. However the music video was nothing special to me, it was good, but maybe one of the weaker ones submitted in terms of concept.
