WOW! You all are such a speedy cast, and thankfully for you all, my day job has been slow, so I can resume my duties as your host earlier than planned!
This week you were asked to team up and give me “A Love Story” complete with lust, love, and heartbreak. Some of you did an excellent job choosing songs that sounded well together, while some missed the mark. Overall, it was INCREDIBLY difficult to judge, you all have really been stepping up, but this week NOBODY is SAFE. You will either be placing high, or low this week.

1st Place: Piplup
Song Choice: Miguel, “the valley”
AH THIS SONG... Miguel is so damn sexy and this song makes me feel some type of way. The ultimate lust, sex song and I love it. The lyrics are hot, sensual, dirty, and the music is just solid fucking music period. Particularly the bridge of the song, I love it. A great introduction for the team.
1st Place: Mimikyu
Song Choice: Erika de Casier, “Puppy Love”
Never heard this song before and it was a nice surprise. The gemini reference was cute (shout out to us) and I dig the R&B sounds, it's a genre I have been exploring more lately and it's just chill. Lyrics are all cute and shit too. It also fits the vibe from the previous song, but takes a softer mellower approach. Thanks for sharing!
1st Place: Pheromosa
Song Choice: Jojo, “Dissolve”
I really enjoyed this song and thought it ended this trio beautifully. JoJo eats and I find the chorus to be the highlight of the song. The song itself does not stand out as much compared to the two alongside it, but I think it encapuslates the story well and provides a softer, but still soulful approach to the heartbreak theme.

The song choices were cohesive and I still can’t get over the transition between tracks 2 and 3. Here are your critiques:
2nd Place: Mawile
Song Choice: Ariana Grande, “my hair”
So I wasn't a fan of positions, I listened like twice and just couldn't get into it. This song is so fun though, and one of the better ones on the album that I didn’t realize I liked until this listen. Fits the lust theme decently well, and Ariana just is an excellent vocalist period. It's hard to say she isn't good, I just find some of her songs to be repetitive in sound, but I liked that this one was a little different than others on the album. Cute little intro to your team's choices!
2nd Place: Solrock
Song Choice: The Weeknd, “Earned It”
Ooooh from Ari to the Weeknd, a great transition! When I first saw this song, I thought sex and lust (mostly because it's from Fifty Shades of Grey) but it does go a bit deeper than that with The Weeknd proclaiming love through the lyrics. I do love the build up in the bridge/outro with his powerhouse vocals. Overall I am not incredibly drawn to this song, but I think coming down from my hair, it was a good choice.
2nd Place: Timburr
Song Choice: Amy Winehouse, “Back to Black”
Oh we want to talk about transition? This was the BEST transition between two songs this round.. WOW! Seamless and we get Amy Winehouse, with her powerhouse vocals, giving us an ultimate break up ballad. This song is iconic, with the tongue in cheek lyrics and just the overall beat it gives bad bitch men ain't shit energy. A great end to an excellent overall team effort. Thank you!

Song Choice: H.E.R, “Comfortable”
Oooh the sensual energy from this song, H.E.R is an excellent vocalist, so I knew I wouldn't be dissapointed when hearing this song. It doesn't GIVE as much as I would want it to, its softer, and with many other softer songs in today's selections, it's hard for it to stand out. However I really enjoy it so thank you!
3rd Place: Shellos
Song Choice: Kacey Musgraves, “Butterflies”
Now I just knew the cohesion would not be here when I saw Kacey Musgraves following H.E.R... both iconic female artists within their own genres, but the transition between the two was a bit jarring. I do love this song though, and I think it really hits home of what love feels like! You have butterflies, you feel giddy, there's such a high level of happy euphoric feels and I get that with this song. In general, Kacey's pop country is always fun to listen to so thank you!
3rd Place: Litwick
Song Choice: Adele, “Women Like Me”
And another wild transition to Adele, again another powerhouse female in the music industry! So maybe there was some theme going here with that. I haven't listened to 30 yet, but I was not surprised to see one of the songs make it to today's round. After listening, it kinda reassures my decision to not listen to the full album. It's not bad at all, but I just don't really find it to be anything incredible. I don't want to be too critical, but I just don't think Adele's music is made for me.

Song Choice: Vanessa Carlton, “White Houses”
Omg this song LMAO. Honestly I don't really like how this song sounds, maybe its Vanessa Carlton's high pitched voice that sounds like a Disney song, or the super upbeat youthful melody, but it just annoys me! HOWEVER, I did pay attention to the lyrics this listen through, and I actually like them! I think it fits the theme well and provides an innocent, crush like, perspective on the theme of lust.
4th Place: Totodile
Song Choice: Taylor Swift, “Our Song”
This song is so damn cute. I think it's my favorite on debut, the chorus is so catchy, clever and quintessential Taylor Swift. (Also SO excited to hear a re recording of this song all these years later) The song is definitely a love song, and brings back many middle school memories where I'd listen to this song thinking about my school crushes .. LOL! It fits the upbeat of the lust selection as well, again going along with this general theme of young love, so thank you!
4th Place: Gyarados
Song Choice: JoJo, “Think About You” (Acoustic Version)
Okay another JoJo song for heartbreak... Y'all either comparing too many notes or just have similar taste! I will start off with this song does not necessarily fit with the other two songs in their team, but it's a great song choice. I haven't listened to it before, and I really like Jojo's voice in this song and the lyrics are great. (If you wanna fight, fuck me out of spite - WONDERFUL) Thank you for sharing!
