Alright Doja! I like this song! Planet Her is my favorite album of the year (outside of Taylor) and this song starts the album off right! It’s amazing how Doja can go from smooth vocals in a chorus to incredibly crafted rap verses. This song exemplifies that well… but maybe not her ABSOLUTE best imo)

Okay this song I’ve heard on tik tok but never actually listened to the full song and it’s so fucking good?! Like I was shocked how much I loved it, I went back to it in between another song I was listening to this round I just loved it so much. Idk it was a whole ass vibe and was giving me some early 2000s soft pop I grew up loving. I have been listening to this song non stop like all day LMAO easily the best find this season so far.

Song Choice: Boys Noize & ABRA, “Addiction”
So I listened to this at the gym and y'all it got me goinggggg! Such a good song! I love the beat, it goes hard from start to finish, and I like electronic music when there's some vocals like this one. I will DEF be adding this and listening to more of both of these artists. EEEE Melissa with this jam!!! It’s really good, I love the classic Avril sound turned 2021 and she’s still on her A game. The lyrics are kick ass. It kinda gives very new All Time Low sounds also which is kinda a serve. Thanks for putting this one on here!

Song Choice: Billie Eillish, “Happier Than Ever”
UGH THIS SONG! It's hard because I am OBSESSED with it from like 2:00 minute mark on. The beginning is cute, but I honestly skip straight to where it picks up because she GIVES. The lyrics are all so good like every single line is just a middle finger, but there's still some pain you can feel. (Angry sad songs are my favorite - just chaotic emotions) I also have just been digging the rock influence in pop music lately. (Olivia, Billie, Halsey, etc.)

How kind for Miss Abrams to write a song about me. 🤪 Jk in all seriousness this song is really good. Clever lyrics, and I can always get behind a poppy little bop. I have heard of her before? I think 21 is a song she sings that I recognize. Not my favorite amongst the others, but I have added this to my library.

So I don’t really like Ed but this song is so good lmaoooo? He put out a pop song that I actually enjoy!! It’s fun, it’s catchy, I relate to the messy drunk lyrics, it’s a bop and I love it. Maybe I love Ed Sheeran after all :)

Hmmm this song I really liked her vocals and it had a lot of potential, I just felt myself kinda losing interest towards the end. The next song started playing on this track though and I was digging it so I added and will return to the album later :)

This song is cute! I didn't know Jessie J still made music lmaooo I just knew she was beefing with Nicki. BUT the song is fun, unfortunately I think it fits into the basic pop girl category a tiny bit, however it does have a little fun disco vibe that's been popular recently. Not bad but it won't be something I will listen to regularly.

Song Choice: I haven’t listened to all of 30 but I think I may have heard this one already. I struggle with this because I recognize Adele's music and this song to be good, but I am not a fan. Like the song is great her vocals are fun but I just wasn’t incredibly drawn to it. I find it a little repetitive, but it wasn’t like I wanted to turn it off either.

Song Choice: I like this song, it's fun, it's catchy, and I like The Kid LAROI, Justin?? Ehhh. The song is a bop but it's a basic bop, so I wished I got a bit more creativity as I feel like it was playing it safe.

AH THIS SONG... Miguel is so damn sexy and this song makes me feel some type of way. The ultimate lust, sex song and I love it. The lyrics are hot, sensual, dirty, and the music is just solid fucking music period. Particularly the bridge of the song, I love it. A great introduction for the team.

Song Choice: Erika de Casier, “Puppy Love”
Never heard this song before and it was a nice surprise. The gemini reference was cute (shout out to us) and I dig the R&B sounds, it's a genre I have been exploring more lately and it's just chill. Lyrics are all cute and shit too. It also fits the vibe from the previous song, but takes a softer mellower approach. Thanks for sharing!

Song Choice: Jojo, “Dissolve”
I really enjoyed this song and thought it ended this trio beautifully. JoJo eats and I find the chorus to be the highlight of the song. The song itself does not stand out as much compared to the two alongside it, but I think it encapuslates the story well and provides a softer, but still soulful approach to the heartbreak theme.

Song Choice: Ariana Grande, “my hair”
So I wasn't a fan of positions, I listened like twice and just couldn't get into it. This song is so fun though, and one of the better ones on the album that I didn’t realize I liked until this listen. Fits the lust theme decently well, and Ariana just is an excellent vocalist period. It's hard to say she isn't good, I just find some of her songs to be repetitive in sound, but I liked that this one was a little different than others on the album. Cute little intro to your team's choices!
2nd Place: Solrock
Song Choice: The Weeknd, “Earned It”
Ooooh from Ari to the Weeknd, a great transition! When I first saw this song, I thought sex and lust (mostly because it's from Fifty Shades of Grey) but it does go a bit deeper than that with The Weeknd proclaiming love through the lyrics. I do love the build up in the bridge/outro with his powerhouse vocals. Overall I am not incredibly drawn to this song, but I think coming down from my hair, it was a good choice.
2nd Place: Timburr
Song Choice: Amy Winehouse, “Back to Black”
Oh we want to talk about transition? This was the BEST transition between two songs this round.. WOW! Seamless and we get Amy Winehouse, with her powerhouse vocals, giving us an ultimate break up ballad. This song is iconic, with the tongue in cheek lyrics and just the overall beat it gives bad bitch men ain't shit energy. A great end to an excellent overall team effort. Thank you!

Song Choice: H.E.R, “Comfortable”
Oooh the sensual energy from this song, H.E.R is an excellent vocalist, so I knew I wouldn't be dissapointed when hearing this song. It doesn't GIVE as much as I would want it to, its softer, and with many other softer songs in today's selections, it's hard for it to stand out. However I really enjoy it so thank you!
3rd Place: Shellos
Song Choice: Kacey Musgraves, “Butterflies”
Now I just knew the cohesion would not be here when I saw Kacey Musgraves following H.E.R... both iconic female artists within their own genres, but the transition between the two was a bit jarring. I do love this song though, and I think it really hits home of what love feels like! You have butterflies, you feel giddy, there's such a high level of happy euphoric feels and I get that with this song. In general, Kacey's pop country is always fun to listen to so thank you!
3rd Place: Litwick
Song Choice: Adele, “Women Like Me”
And another wild transition to Adele, again another powerhouse female in the music industry! So maybe there was some theme going here with that. I haven't listened to 30 yet, but I was not surprised to see one of the songs make it to today's round. After listening, it kinda reassures my decision to not listen to the full album. It's not bad at all, but I just don't really find it to be anything incredible. I don't want to be too critical, but I just don't think Adele's music is made for me.

Omg this song LMAO. Honestly I don't really like how this song sounds, maybe its Vanessa Carlton's high pitched voice that sounds like a Disney song, or the super upbeat youthful melody, but it just annoys me! HOWEVER, I did pay attention to the lyrics this listen through, and I actually like them! I think it fits the theme well and provides an innocent, crush like, perspective on the theme of lust.
4th Place: Totodile
Song Choice: Taylor Swift, “Our Song”
This song is so damn cute. I think it's my favorite on debut, the chorus is so catchy, clever and quintessential Taylor Swift. (Also SO excited to hear a re recording of this song all these years later) The song is definitely a love song, and brings back many middle school memories where I'd listen to this song thinking about my school crushes .. LOL! It fits the upbeat of the lust selection as well, again going along with this general theme of young love, so thank you!

Song Choice: JoJo, “Think About You” (Acoustic Version)
Okay another JoJo song for heartbreak... Y'all either comparing too many notes or just have similar taste! I will start off with this song does not necessarily fit with the other two songs in their team, but it's a great song choice. I haven't listened to it before, and I really like Jojo's voice in this song and the lyrics are great. (If you wanna fight, fuck me out of spite - WONDERFUL) Thank you for sharing!

Song Choice: Birdy, "Lighthouse"
Listening to this song reminded me why I was excited to do this game, to fall in love with new music! This is my first time ever hearing this song and wow I love it so much. I've heard of Birdy before, but this song is just everything. It has the softness of what I was hoping for when thinking of Autumn vibes, and theres a level of melancholy in her voice I really get into. These verses though are top tier yep I will be listening to the rest of this album now. Thank you for sharing!
2nd Place: Eevee
Song Choice: Arctic Monkeys, "Knee Socks"
I haven't heard this Arctic Monkeys song before, but I have always found their music to give me Autumn vibes. Ooh but this song is so damn good! The vocals I find so incredibly smooth and sexy. Overall too the rock sound is different, really high quality, and just different than the other songs, so I appreciate the uniqueness in your submission. Thank you!

Song Choice: The Paper Kites, "Bloom"
Wow I love this song 🥲 Never heard it till today, but I am obsessed with the melody and vocals. Overall and incredibly pretty song, the guitar in the background gives the folk feel, but the voice has some modernity to it that I just overall really enjoyed. Super sweet, sad song thank you for sharing!

Song Choice: Lana Del Rey, "Cinnamon Girl"
Mmmmmmmm NFR Lana yes please. This song gives me fall, I remember first listening to this album driving up through Vermont during peak foliage season, so it has that memory attached to it. Does the song give heavy heavy fall? Ehhh, but I think it's one of Lana's best on the album. I particularly love the contrast between the softer verses, and the kinda beat drop that gives during the chorus. Great song choice!
5th Place: Solrock
Song Choice: Taylor Swift, "All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (Sad Girl Autumn Version)
This is the first song I am listening to for this round and I have to say it's expected. If you're going to choose Taylor, I WILL be hypocritical given that I already know all her songs. All Too Well (2012) is very very Autumn. Taylor took it to the next level with 2021 releases, but this not necessarily my top choice of the 3. The original 10 minute version is my absolute favorite of the ATW renditions. This song though is beautiful, the lyrics are heart-wrenching, and I think the piano acoustic just make it even more sad. HOWEVER, there is something about the other's heavy bass I like more, there's a level of anger that I don't get in this song. Overall, thematic and excellent song, but maybe on the predictable side.
6th Place: Gyarados
Song Choice: The Neighbourhood, "Sweater Weather"
I am trying really hard to not think about this song being SO overplayed when it came out, because I REALLY love The Neighbourhood (their newest album specifically) so this song is TOUGH. Overall, I find the chorus to be repetitive, which is probably why it was a catchy top radio song. It does give fall though, and I enjoy and vibe with the sound.
7th Place: Pheromosa
Song Choice: Taylor Swift, "Ivy"
Another Taylor song, yep yep and this one does eat I will have to say. Unfortunately, as much as I love this song (one of my favorite on evermore), I think it's much more of a spring song. The idea of ivy growing, rebirthing of a new relationship, gives spring to me. She also says "Spring breaks loose" which I have always associated this song with spring more than fall. HOWEVER, sonically this song fits the "Fall" vibe with folk style guitar, and the album was released in the fall so - there's some point there. The song is great though and the overall imagery is TOP NOTCH.
8th Place: Piplup
Song Choice: Lana Del Rey, "Radio"
Hmmm one of my favorite Lana songs! It's a great song, I don't really associate it with Fall but I do think it fits the vibe, as do most Lana songs. Also the connection to cinnamon between both these Lana songs? (Cinnamon also gives Autumn vibes, so I'll give you both that) I particularly love the build up in the bridge of the song, and the way Lana says cinnamon just hits different. Great song!

Song Choice: Nell, "Time Spent Walking Through Memories"
So I looked up the english translation of the lyrics, and it's so sad! Overall I really enjoy Nell's voice and feels very Linken Park esque (but softer) the lyrics speak on a lone leaf floating through the wind, so I appreciate the little nod to fall. Not sure how much the song will stand out to the rest, but I do enjoy it.
10th Place: Mimikyu
Song Choice: Taylor Swift, "seven"
AND ANOTHER TAYLOR SONG. Again, similar to Ivy, she directly references another season (Summer) in this song numberous times, so does it fit the theme? I'm not sure. folklore also came out middle of the summer which is when I HEAVILY listen to this album, so it's hard for me to like fit it into this fall category. The song is beautiful though, and I love what she does with her voice compared to some of her other songs. Great song, but doesn't resonate with the theme as much as I wish it did.
11th Place: Litwick
Song Choice: Keane, "Somewhere Only We Know"
Okay this song is a classic, I feel like they did it on Glee at some point? I really enjoy this song and I think the line "Why don't we go somewhere only we know" is pretty iconic, catchy, and sweet. Compared to some of the others here I may not consider it a top choice song of the week, but a solid selection for sure.

Song Choice: Quinn XCII, "Us & Us"
Quinn XCII's voice just isn't it for me. It sounds nasily? I'm not sure, but it's more so in this song given that it's a bit slower. The song did get better, the second verse when the bass kicks in added to the poppy sounds that I think work better for him. The lyrics are also not anything super spectacular to me, and find it to lack a bit. Not a relisten for me unfortunately. 😪
Bottom 2: Timburr
Song Choice: Iron & Wine, "Autumn Town Leaves"
Did somebody google "Autumn Vibe Songs"??? Just kidding, I appreciate how thematic the song is and it fits very well. It's a very pretty song, however not sure if it's a huge standout for me. I wish the vocals did a bit more as I don't find it incredibly dynamic. I could see myself enjoying this song being played at a coffee shop on an early fall morning, so thank you!

1st Place: Pheromosa
Song Choice: Fleetwood Mac, "Landslide"
So when I thought of my song choice for this round, this was in my top 3 for sure. I find every remix of this song (The Chicks, Santana from Glee, etc.) to be absolutely beautiful, but they are no match for Fleetwood Mac's reedition. "Well I've been afraid of changing" is a very REAL lyric, one I associated alot with growing up and separating myself from my home. Getting emotional thinking about it ahhh but yeah literally one of my favorite songs of all time, thank you for sharing.
2nd Place: Mawile
Song Choice: Rob Thomas, "Streetcorner Symphony"
I forgot this song even existed omg Rob Thomas sends me with so many of his songs, and this is one of them. Very upbeat, very mid 2000's (which was childhood for me) so I feel the nostalgia with this song. I also find the message of the song to be uplifting. It's giving very much like the intro credit song to a feel good 2000's family comedy. Great song choice!
3rd Place: Tsareena
Song Choice: Miranda Lambert, "The House That Built Me"
Phew now country music is hit or miss for me...but this one was an instant classic when it was first released. I don't resonate with it that much, given that my family moved around a lot growing up, but the melody is on point, and the lyrics still hit like a dagger straight through my heart. Miranda has a beautiful voice, and a distinct one (hard to come by in country music IMO) Overall, a high quality tear jerker for sure.

Song Choice: Taylor Swift, "Lover"
Ooooh boy so I will make the full disclosure now so everyone is aware, but I am a SWIFTIE. She's a goddess, probably a witch, I love basically anything she puts out and have been listening to Red (Taylor's Version) non stop since it's release. BUT just because I am a Swiftie, does not mean her songs will get an automatic top spot every week. Now this song, I really enjoy it and thought it was the cutest song when it came out. The music video (takes place in a home) and the lyrics just make me very excited to create a home with my wonderful fiancé. I found it to have gotten overplayed, so it's hard me for me to love it as much as I used to. Overall though an excellent song from start to finish.

Song Choice: COIN, "Talk Too Much"
I know COIN and I LOVE this song, one of the first I heard from them. Now it's tough because I am pretty sure this song is more about sex than home, but I believe everyone selected these songs for some sort of personal connection they have with it. I'm going to go with you loved to listen to this with your friends driving with the windows down, or in your bedroom alone with your headphones on. Great song.

Song Choice: OneRepublic, "Good Life"
Ok this song kinda HITS! It was one of those songs I loved back in the day, became overplayed, but now it's like I have had enough time away from the song to enjoy it again. I can't help but sing along to the lyrics, and I think they resonate with home, living, and growing well. Honestly the song just gets better as it goes on. Thank you for bringing this back from the depths of US radio!

West coasties makes some noiiiise!!! I think I have only heard this Lana song like a handful of times before (I don't think if I've listened to all of Ultraviolence) but it's actually really good! Overall I do prefer some of Lana's earlier stuff, so it's no surprise. She does more with her voice in this song than others, and I really enjoy the guitar / drum soft rock instrumentals intermixed with Lana's classic "dream sequence" sounds as well. Great song!
8th Place: Piplup
Song Choice: Rina Sawayama, "Dynasty"
Rina! God this album deserved so much more recognition than it received. This song isn't my favorite on the album, but I think it does a very good job at introducing the album and showcases generally the sound of the album. It's a first track song, so I don't think it is as attention grabbing as it could be BUT the guitar solo? *Chefs kiss* Very great song choice!
9th Place: Totodile
Song Choice: Fort Minor featuring Holly Brook "Where'd You Go"
Okay I haven't really listened to the lyrics of this song until now. I thought it was more about a lover, but it's definitely about a family dynamic from the child which is really sad. Holly Brook in this for the chorus really adds to the song, and I appreciate these 90's 2000's rap songs that have female vocals for a chorus. Solid song choice, thank you!
10th Place: Solrock
Song Choice: Tom Petty, "Wildflowers"
This is one of those songs where I have heard numerous times, but was never instantly hooked. I find it to be very pretty, honestly I love the lyrics, but it falls a little flat for me sonically. And as I say that I am paying more attention the to guitar melody and enjoying it. It's a cute song, but just maybe not my favorite.

11th Place: Gyarados
Song Choice Darius Rucker, "Southern Style"
Now country music is hit and miss for me... this one I think is a miss for me unfortunately. The song hits the theme, the west coast boy in me just really don't resonate with "southern style" so it's hard for me to fall in love with the lyrics. I do like Darius Rucker (WAGON WHEEL BABY) so I will applaud the artist choice and I do think he has a really good voice / style overall.

Bottom 2: Eevee
Song Choice: Hozier, Almost (Sweet Music)
This song is nice, I think Hozier's voice is incredible and it really carries the song. However the verses to be a little jumbled, but the chorus is really fun to listen to. Overall though it's not a stand out and I don't know if I would have this song on repeat.
Bottom 2: Shellos
Song Choice: Garrett Nash (Gnash) featuring Johnny Yukon, "home"
This song is nice, but it doesn't have some of the standout qualities as some of the others. For me the largest this is I don't really love the lyrics, I find them to be a bit simpler and lack depth in story telling. The melody and instrumental pieces also don't really add much, enough to save the lyrics. The song is fine, not bad, but not a relisten.

As someone who loves discovering new music, this will be an exciting venture for me as well! However, for me to solely focus on your music taste I have decided to bring in our lovely Pokemon friends to help conceal our cast’s identities… it’s now time for your to choose your Pokemon!
Before we begin with our first round, I would like to give each of you the chance to select which Pokemon you’d like to have represent you for the duration of the game. The Pokemon you choose will be completely unknown to me and will ONLY be revealed to myself and the public upon your elimination, so choose a Pokemon that best represents who you are, or one that you’re just absolutely obsessed with. 😋
