(Currently a day has passed from the last chapter. The group refreshed at the safe house and moved out a few hours later. They found another working bus but it was so damaged it only moved them to the outskirts of Detroit.)
As the bus took it's final gasps, Wolf laid his head on the steering wheel. "Again, well I guess we have to make our move. Two days left." Lucille says, patting Wolf on the shoulder and carefully stepping off the bus. They are currently at the beginning of a bridge towards the city of Detroit. On the other side of the city is the evac center where CEDA is. Behind Lucille is the rest of the gang, groaning that they can't just get to safety via driving. "Relax everyone, we're almost there." Kaden says, looking around at everyone and turning towards the bridge. Mac and Ari roll their eyes, sighing. "God can't we just be there already? These streets be dangerous and I'd rather spend another day in that bus with Wario's disgusting ass than walking around with hordes of infected." Ari spits, folding his arms and walking towards the railing of the bridge. "Listen you ignorant asshole, we are trying and sorry that we can give you a 5 star escort to the safe place. Stop having your head up your ass and get a steppin' like the rest of us." Rosalia says, walking with Jordan, Caitlin, Kaden, Kori, and Kendall with Lucille, Lisa, Wolf, and Max ahead and Wario, Mona, and Nash behind them. Ari and Mac look at each other before following the others and leaving the rust bucket bus behind.
Max leads the group with Wolf aggressively pushing him ahead. Max is scared for his life, being infected and having a gun always pointed at him. He is starting to feel sick but he does not want to show anything so he doesn't get killed. One more push into a car and Lucy sighs, "Listen Wolf, give the kid a break and just let him lead us. St-"
"No, you listen. He is dangerous cargo and is weighing us down by how slow he is getting. He is infected, he is going to kill someone!" Wolf shouts, regretting it as everyone stops as they hear screams. "Nice going, fucker! Now we got a problem!" Kendall says, pulling out her knife and back up against Kaden and Kori as zombies starting running towards them.
And so, carnage ensues as zombies starting running towards the group. Kaden, Kori, and Kendall use a technique that Kori and Kaden knock zombies down or kill them with their axes and Kendall stabs them to make sure they die. A slew of zombies all run at Kaden and Kori making them busy as a low growl can be heard by Kendall and nearby Jordan, Caitlin, and Rosalia who are busy fighting zombies themselves. On top of a car lands a man in dark clothing and sharp looking fingernails. He screeches, lunging and pouncing on top of Kendall, knocking her to the ground. He starts aggressively scratching at her clothing and skin, which causes Kendall to start screaming. Kori turns and hurries over, sending her axe into the man's back and causing him to stop for a split second. Kendall uses this to send her knife into his neck, killing him. She pushes him off and furiously starts checking her clothing. She looks up and smiles at Kori, "Just fuckin' scratches, thank God. Thank you!" She hugs Kori, however tugs on Kori's scarf revealing teeth marks from Kori's bite. Kendall frowns and looks at Kori. Kori puts a finger to her mouth and pleads for her to not tell anyone. Currently no one can hear them because of the gunshots and noises going on around them. Kendall is perplexed, but nods because she saved her.
Kori adjusts her scarf as Kaden starts rushing away. "Too many, run!" He shouts, starting to run as Mona, Nash, Wario, Ari, and Mac pass the girls. Kori and Kendall look to see about thirty zombies running at them. "Oh, shit, g-go!" Kendall says, grabbing Kori's free hand and dragging her along. The running group passes Rosalia, Jordan, and Caitlin and they turn and start running as well. The running group shouts at Wolf, Max, Lucy, and Lisa to start running as they start catching up. Lisa turns, seeing her group running towards them and the zombies following. She turns and sees a truck with some propane tanks in them. She runs over as Max starts running ahead. Lucy looks towards Lisa as Wolf runs ahead to catch up to Max. Lucy runs over to Lisa who is trying to break a lock that secures the propane tanks.
The straggling group starts passing the girls on the truck. Mona stops and looks at them, "What the fuck are you guys doing?!" She yells, turning and shooting some incoming zombies. "We can blow up the horde with these propane tanks, I just can't get it open!!" Lisa screams, fidgeting with the lock. "Move!" Mona says, getting into the truck and butting the lock with the her gun. It breaks the lock and Mona opens it, hitting a zombie that tried getting on the truck. She then throws it onto the bridge floor as Lisa rolls some off of the truck and Lucy shoots zombies who get close. Mona urges the girls to catch up with the group and she'll keep zombies at bay. Lisa nods, running ahead with her bat while Lucy decides to stay a bit away to help Mona. Mona starts shooting impending zombies as she creeps backwards. Lucy starts helping and shoots one of the tanks. It explodes, sending zombie bits around and a truck with it. Mona shoots two more which explodes more zombies and few cars.
"Okay let's go!" Mona says, turning and running with Lucy. The girls keep running as they hear explosions around then and get off the bridge with the others. Everyone is panting and thanking each other for their fight. Lucy hugs Lisa and shortly after they thank Mona for helping them back there. "It's no problem, just be careful. Nice thinking but be faster." She nods to them and walks over to check in with Wolf and Nash. Wolf is with Max who is hyperventilating with all that fighting. Wolf pats him on the back for trying his best and turns to Mona, "Nice job back there. Those zombies are pretty feisty" he says, chuckling a bit before taking a drink from his canteen. Mona turns to Max and looks at how he is doing. Max looks up at her and blinks. Wario walks up, slugging Mona's shoulder and pointing down the street. There, they see the Ford Stadium and Comerica Park. "There has to be a safe house there! My feet are aching from all this running." Wairo says, grunting and sighing. Mona nods, backing up and turns to the group. "Everyone! There might be a safe house there we just have to get there. Come one let's go." Mona says, quietly this time and glares at Wolf. He rolls his eyes and they start walking.
Soon, the group reaches the entrance to Comerica Park. "I always liked baseball." Caitlin mutters, blinking and smiling at Jordan. Jordan turns and smiles back, walking with her, Kaden, and Rosalia into the entrance. Kendall and Kori follow, then the others. Rosalia points to a safe house symbol pointing into a Employee Only doorway. She looks at the others before Wolf pushes Max up to the front, "Lead the way, infected." Max rolls his eyes and opens the door, knife ready.
Inside the doorway is a long hallway with different doors and storage rooms. Lined the halls is Tiger gear and memorabilia. The group quietly shuffles through the hallway, some doors opening and the lighting flickering. Suddenly out of one of the doorways, a zombie jumps out and bites Caitlin on the arm. She screams, shoving her knife into the zombie's head and it falls to the ground. This bite was more severe as Caitlin starts bleeding. The group gasps and Caitlin continues to scream. Faintly the group can hear more screams. Kaden runs over and puts a hand against her mouth. Jordan takes a medkit out of his backpack and looks around, "Anyone a doctor?!" Kori steps forward and pronounces she is and starts to bandage Caitlin's arm.
From the hallway and storage rooms comes a swarm of zombies! The group is caught off guard and Max, Wario, Wolf, Mona, Nash, and Mac are attacked by zombies. People from the group scream as zombies start punching and being aggressive. Kaden and Jordan stand and use their melee weapons to keep zombies away from Kori and Caitlin. Kendall, Lucy, and Lisa start hacking and shooting zombies that are on Mona and Wolf. Ari helps Mac by shooting a zombie and helping him up. Rosalia goes to help Max but is tackled by another zombie. She screams as the zombie scratches and kicks her. Ari looks over as he is the closest to Rosalia but instead helps Mac kill some zombies. The zombie starts pinning Rosalia down and leans in to bite her. Rosalia screams again and Lucy turns, shooting the zombie and freeing Rosalia. Lisa goes over and helps her to her feet and make sure she is okay.
Wario is starting to be trampled and can't keep fighting the zombies and is overrun. A gunshot by Wolf ends him and Wolf pulls Lucille into a doorway that leads to a dugout. "HURRY! THIS WAY WE ARE BEING OVERRUN!" Wolf shouts and helps Lisa and Rosalia through. Next comes Mona, Nash, and Kendall. Kori is not finished but they have to go so she quickly wraps Caitlin's arm and the girls get up to run. Kaden and Jordan help them into the tunnel Mac and Ari go next, leaving Max fighting a zombie still. The zombies start closing in and Wolf decides to leave him. "Noooo!" Max yells as more zombies surround him and end his life.
Lucille enters the dugout and looks around. Across the field is the fence blown open revealing a hallway and a safe house symbol pointing inside. Lucy points to it and starts running towards it. Lisa stops at the first base line and shouts for the others to hurry and Rosalia runs to catch up to Lucy. Mona, Nash, and Kendall hurry and run with Lisa to the hallway. Kori, Caitlin, Jordan, and Kaden are next and hurry onto the field. Quickly Ari, Mac, and Wolf follow where everyone else went and is being followed by an onslaught of zombies. Caitlin starts fumbling and falls, taking down Jordan with her. Kori keeps running but Kaden stops and goes to help the other two. He helps Caitlin to her feet and she starts running. Kaden goes and starts helping Jordan up but they both turn to see a large man with a ridiculously large arm jump from the seats and sprints, tackling Caitlin. He keeps going and stops at second base, picking her up and slamming her onto the base.
Wolf starts shooting at the mutant as Ari and Mac keep running, and after a few shots and Caitlin continuing to be slammed onto the ground the mutant dies. Some of Caitlin's ribs are crushed and she can barely move. Jordan and Kaden run over to help her up as Wolf runs by, the zombies getting closer and closer. Caitlin is helped up but falls to her hands and knees shortly. Kaden goes to help her again but Jordan grabs his arm and shakes his head. Kaden looks at Caitlin and starts to back up as zombies start closing in on Caitlin and jumping her. Jordan pulls Kaden and they start running.
Rosalia catches up to Lucy and they run down the hallway. After cutting a few corners, the safe house is in sight. Lucy hurries, opening it and letting Rosalia inside. Soon, Mona, Nash, Kendall, and Lisa come into view and enter the safe house. Kori is next, followed by Ari, Mac, and soon Wolf. Lucy looks around before yelling where Jordan, Kaden, and Caitlin are. Wolf looks at her and shakes his head. Rosalia gasps, a tear starting to form but they look up and see Jordan and Kaden running down the hallway. "HURRY!" Lisa shouts, keeping the door open. The boys soon run inside and Lisa shuts and locks the door before zombies start pounding on the door.
The group audibly gasps for air after running so much. Kaden slumps into a chair and starts crying, Jordan, Kendall and Rosalia go over to comfort him. Lucy and Lisa shake their heads at Caitlin's fate. "... Some big fucking mutant tackled her ass and started slamming her onto 2nd base... a weird way to ask for it but..." Wolf mutters, shaking his head and slightly chuckling at his joke. "Shut the fuck up, where is Wario and Max, huh? Clearly you left them for dead..." Kaden says, sobbing a bit. Ari and Mac shuffle their feet and nod, "Yeah, you kinda did." Mac mutters, looking around. Wolf looks around before standing up, "Listen, they were weak. They did not have their survival instincts. Besides, those two were weighing us down heavily!" Wolf shouts, waving his arms. "I think we just need to have a breather and mourn the people we lost, okay?" Rosalia says, turning back to Kaden. Lucy and Lisa turn and look at the zombies busting at the door. "That was close." Lucy mutters.
