stuartlittle16 - Scream (2022) - I love the scream series. I feel like its like frowned upon on tengaged or something because its so mainstream but whatever. They are just alot of fun. I had very high expectations for this movie. I spent a good part of a year anticipating it and knowing Radio Silence was directing I was so behind them. I was not disappointed. I had a great time with this movie (and an even better time on the rewatch). It felt very scream and thats all I wanted. The characters were fun (albeit always angry at each other), the kills were brutal and the motivation felt very on brand for what we are in as pop culture. I thought it was clever and I also liked how the movie diverted expectations. With the opening for example, normally its always a cold open kill but this time it was just an attack (and a brutal one at that) and that brings me to the shower! Obviously a homage to Psycho, I love how it was used as a ploy. I actually like that whole scene alot for the reason above. As for the performances, the real standouts in my mind were Mikey Madison and Jenna Ortega. Both really killed their roles and I loved watching them. Overall, a standout in a series where they are all standouts. Im so happy this didnt flop.
LaCroix - Pitch Perfect (2012) - I always forget about this movie but then it gets brought up and im like "oh yeah!!!!! This is great!". I feel like there isn't a reason this movie should work but it does and i'm ok with that. Like it has alot of stereotypes and offensive humor but I can't help but laugh because its delivered so well. I love Brittany Snow so much. She is beautiful, she is stunning, she is iconic, she is a great singer. Alot of this cast is really good as well. Rebel Wilson, Hana Mae Lee, Anna Kendrick, Ester Dean I just love the chemistry. As for the shower scene, it reminds me alot of Glee but not as creepy cause its not a teacher spying on a naked teenager (and then plants pot in his locker). Its also better cause harmonies. I love harmonies (particularily female harmonies as I believe women are better singers) and it delivers! While also being funny. I don't know its just alot of fun for a movie that really wouldn't appeal to me it does.
I gotta say this was a hard round. I like both movies for different reasons and now it just comes down to which one I like more.
I feel so horrible because while you submitted the better movie in the round, I just tend to have a huge soft spot for Scream and so it comes down like this. I have to say though that you are a strong competitor who kicked all kinds of ass last season and im so happy you participated again. Thank you so much for playing <3
