I decided to do two seasons in a day omg my impact! This season is phenomenal and delivers so many great or iconic lip syncs so im so on board. Let's rank all 12!
#12. Vivienne Pinay vs. Honey Mahogany - Oops...I Did it Again by Britney Spears
I was actually debating putting this second to last because at least in this one, both are lip syncing but after rewatching them all, this is definitely the worst and just most disappointing. it's Britney for gods sake and you are doing...that X2? The energy is just not there for either. You can move your mouth to the words of a song but if you aren't actually feeling it, we're gonna notice. A tragedy of a lip sync and this song needs a redo.
#11. Penny Tration vs. Serena ChaCha - Party in the U.S.A by Miley Cyrus
I think about this lip sync sometimes because im like "is this one the worst?" It definitely has everything going for it to be terrible but I can't deny that Serena does somewhat of a good job. Her makeup is horrible and it's hard to see if she is actually on sync with the words but she does give good energy where as Penny is just a mess. PennyTrationStan is quaked.
#10. Alaska vs. Jinkx Monsoon vs. Roxxxy Andrews - The Beginning by RuPaul
it's a finale lip sync! Not much happens and their outfits limit there performance. I like Jinkx's clap to the drop, thats fun!
#9. Serena ChaCha vs. Monica Beverly Hillz - Only Girl (in the World) by Rihanna
This lip sync is fine! I love the song and I do wish we could get some more Rihanna on Drag Race but one can dream. Monica puts in a good boss bitch energy but aside from that is a little lackluster and Serena is...just a mess. Again, it's fine but stacked up against what comes after is eh.
#8. Ivy Winter vs. Alyssa Edwards - Ain't Nothing Going On but the Rent by Gwen Guthrie
Alyssa does not want romance without finance. She encaptures this song really well and her outfit definitely compliments the song. ivy does a good job as well! I do wish she actually moved a bit around the stage, she could have still done her performance just make it grander while Alyssa takes over her corner. It's a fun lip sync!
#7. Monica Beverly Hillz vs. Coco Montrese - When I Grow Up by The Pussycat Dolls
The lip sync that starts Coco's destructive lip sync career. This one is fun! In the worst outfit imaginable, she turns it the fuck out and im here for it. It's so much fun to watch her just be in her element after the entire episode is just her moping. Monica is there but her low energy does not work here whatsoever especially compared to Coco. This is a good one!
#6. Coco Montrese vs. Detox - It Takes Two by Seduction
I have to say Coco looks like a 1990's Game of Life computer game character. Her head looks bigger than her body for some reason and i think its the way she did her makeup mixed with the hair. idk its weird. But she still turns it out! But Detox just annihilates her. her repore with Michelle during the song is iconic. Not really a fan of this song at all but its a fun lip sync to watch!
#5. Jade Jolie vs. Coco Montrese - I'm So Excited by The Pointer Sisters
These next 5 are all lip syncs I absolutely love! This one is just fun to the extreme and Coco is just...it. Her kicking during the chorus and emoting just looking ike she is having such a great time is so amazing. Jade does a good job as well! And had she been against others on this season definitely would have won but going up against Coco is pretty hard to do and its just undeniable that she is great here. Side note, I wanna see Automatic by the Pointer Sisters on drag race. Such a great song.
#4. Lineysha Sparx vs. Detox - Take Me Home by Cher
I absolutely love this lip sync so much. Lineysha does a really goods job and comes out of her shell pretty well here and Detox just...becomes Detox. I also love this song its such a great song by Cher and it's so much fun to watch. Everyone looks like they are having a great time and Detox sells it all. i love when she spins and her jellyfish dress spins upward with it. This lip sync is underrated and needs more attention to be honest. I wanna see people talk about it more.
#3. Detox vs. Jinkx Monsoon - Malambo No. 1 by Yma Sumac
While I know now that the lip sync song was switched last minute for Jinkx, i'm not mad about it because Jinkx is a monster and eats this up. it's such a funny performance that my friends and i reference so much. I also love that Detox says that she is being sexy while the most unflattering moment is on screen. The editing is hilarious I can't. The lip movement on Jinkx is really well executed and she is in her element. It's a fun lip sync and one of the oddest for sure but it makes it stand out more for that reason yas.
#2. Alyssa Edwards vs. Roxxxy Andrews - I Whip My Hair by WILLOW
I love this lip sync. I know it starts a movement of gaggy performances and while we have been so oversaturated with that now, it's so important to recognize where it came from and this lip sync is a beast. For a song that doesn't really show any lip syncing because you are so busy whipping, the performances are so good! Obviously there is Roxxxy's wig reveal and it's still iconic to this day. Ru and Michelle's faces are still amazing to watch but i wanna give alot of praise to Alyssa for being exactly on beat to the song with her whip movements and even after that when she drops onto the floor and breaks her shoe. it's so good. The light show giving everyone a seizure is a bonus as well. Such a great lip sync!
#1. Alyssa Edwards vs. Coco Montrese - Cold Hearted by Paula Abdul
I mean are we shocked? Coco vs. Alyssa is one of the best story arcs ever on drag race and it all comes to an end here in one of the most satisfying conclusions you could ever imagine. This lip sync is everything and more. Alyssa helicopter splitting, Coco using her outfit to her advantage and lip syncing to every word flawlessly. It's a masterpiece of work and the song choice is just perfection. You can't make this shit up. My only complaint is I wish this lip sync was longer. It's one of the shortest ever and like why? This needs a full version im not sorry for demanding it. One of the best lip syncs ever by two of the best assassin's ever in one of the greatest stories and seasons ever. I live.
