Welcome to yet another round! It's always nice to begin a new group of songs not knowing what to expect at all.
Once again, one song per album and once again an album leaves the game, based on the average rankings of today's round and the previous round too! (so round 2 in this case)
_______________________________________________________________
Let's go revealing this round's competing songs!
(All of the chosen songs were randomized and won't be repeated again in the game unless an album has used all its songs)
πΏ 01) CARLY RAE JEPSEN - Making The Most Of The Night / EMOTION
βΌ This was by far the most clever and well produced song of the record so far. Something that is actually easy to remember for how good it is. I heard good bops so far and I'm sure that this was just a bad start and I could actually enjoy this record more than expected. We're just at the beginning so this might end up low in the ranking again but never say never, because this was great!
πΏ 02) CHAPPELL ROAN - Coffee / THE RISE AND FALL OF A MIDWEST PRINCESS
βΌ I honestly could've never expected so many ballads in this album, that just gave me a totally different vibe. Maybe it's just the random luck? I think the previous entry "Kaleidoscope" had something more, both in the way the lyrics were sang and in the way the melody captured me personally, but this wasn't bad, but definitely the most bland song of the album so far. Let's see what the future holds for this album.
πΏ 03) LAUREN SPENCER SMITH - Hey / MIRROR
βΌ This started off very calmly and I wasn't really appreciating it, but then it grew into a cute little acoustic track that I somehow found more enjoyable than last round's entry, to my own surprise. I just know this woman loves Olivia Rodrigo's songs and she was definitely an inspiration, probably another reason why I didn't dislike this. Still I think she needs something stronger, some incredible hook that she has the potential to create, and damn at those vocals girl Lauren you better work.
πΏ 04) CHUNG HA - BYULHARANG (160504 + 170607) / QUERENCIA
βΌ Probably a more personal and calm track than the previous one, which I appreciated for its variety and differences from the very first song I had heard. This song is similar to last round's track but for some reason I didn't really feel anything much, but it was cute I'm not gonna lie. Probably the weakest song so far off the record? I expected a bit more, but it's really nice to see different paces for songs in the same record, something Chung Ha has done more so far than most artists competing.
πΏ 05) MELANIE MARTINEZ - EVIL / PORTALS
βΌ Okay Melanie, alright. We got some less cringey lyrics this time, a more nostalgic upbeat instrumental, better vocals that don't sound weird, and constant incredible production, so yeah this was a way better track than the previous one. I don't know if it's the best I've heard off "PORTALS" so far, but this wasn't certainly a disappointment, this could've been released in 2012 and I wouldn't have been surprised. Very nice!
πΏ 06) KESHA - Praying / RAINBOW
βΌ I was waiting for this song to be randomly selected, and here it is. One of the most emotional and gorgeous pieces of music I have ever listened to. Since this album was submitted to me for the game I kept on wondering if all the songs would've been similar to this one, and so far...it wasn't really clear to comprehend, but I knew that if a track like this is part of the record, I would've not been disappointed. So far it was not the case, and I think I actually got shivers from this listening lmfao. I was extremely lucky to have discovered this song in the past, and although its religious connotations, I think its message goes out to anyone who went through horrible times because of pieces of shit that get into our lives and ruin them. This is a personal 10/10 song, and it's rare to find those. Stunning
πΏ 07) FLORENCE + THE MACHINE - Leave My Body / CEREMONIALS
βΌ It seems to me that Florence seemed to calm down a bit with this track, still hitting gorgeous high notes, that are kinda becoming her trademark from what I'm understanding so far. She's going with the same approach with all tracks so far but except the first one I've listened to, I feel a bigger lack of energy and originality. Of course that first song gave me high expectations, and this track was kinda complex now that I admit it, but I miss whatever I had in round one, and I want it back, maybe not in the same exact form, but something that can make me say "WOOOOOOOOOOOW" as long as possible.
πΏ 08) HILARY DUFF - Dignity / DIGNITY
βΌ Our next title track of this season! I'm really liking these songs. I expected something a la Avril Lavigne when I got this record submitted to me, and I wasn't totally wrong. But I feel original sounds coming on and these first melodies I'm hearing from this record just take me back to older and simpler times. This has been the most satisfying album to listen to, and it's not even falling into the dark pit of basic-ass trash white music I expected this would be. And that's the best thing! I'm happy about it. And this song was good! Really good!
πΏ 09) KALI UCHIS - Moonlight / RED MOON IN VENUS
βΌ Aww kinda fun. I understand why this is the most popular single of the album. I think I still prefer her "telepatia" song but this was nice. I feel like all of her songs have the same tempo LMFAO it's incredible how she can make her songs sound so similar yet so different, but this one was probably the best of the bunch so far. I really wonder what's next. The final part of this track was really nice.
πΏ 10) SUDAN ARCHIVES - Milk Me / NATURAL BROWN PROM QUEEN
βΌ From this title I didn't expect to hear this sound. But it was okay! I feel like both previous tracks had some elements that made them stand out more, this felt more chill but I could never remember it in a full listening of the record. It's not that I didn't like it, but it didn't really capture the vibe of the other two songs and that I was kinda living for.
πΏ 11) AMAARAE - Reckless & Sweet / FOUNTAIN BABY
βΌ This woman keeps on surprising me with new ways of experimenting with vocals and sounds of any type. That chorus is addicting lmfao, and overall really enjoyable. A shorter track than the others, but that works perfectly with the time it has. Straight to the point from what I could tell and doesn't get less interesting for one second. A+.

11th | LAUREN SPENCER SMITH Mirror 10.5
This means Lauren Spencer Smith's "Mirror" is our second eliminated album. I heard an incredible voice and she definitely has an audience and a great future, but other albums just have more elements I'm looking forward to.
There will be a chance to rejoin so this ain't the last time I hear this record, I can't just judge it based on three songs amirite? (yeah I said this already)
That's all for now see ya next round, maybe tomorrow, maybe in 100 years. Who knows?
As usual we're listening to one song per album, lovely right? But today we're actually eliminating an album, based on the average rankings of today's episode and the past round.
_______________________________________________________________
Let's go revealing this round's competing songs!
(All of the chosen songs were randomized and won't be repeated again in the game unless an album has used all its songs)
πΏ 01) SUDAN ARCHIVES - Loyal (EDD) / NATURAL BROWN PROM QUEEN
βΌ Cool harmonies, a way shorter track than the previous one, but lovely, original and fun to listen. She killed it. Will it be enough for a high position today? I'm not really sure, but we're still on the first song of the day so no one knows!
πΏ 02) KALI UCHIS - Moral Conscience / RED MOON IN VENUS
βΌ Ehhh it was cute yeah, that whistle note caught me off guard but other than that, it just felt the same as last round's song. So yeah, still what I was expecting but I thought it'd be in a tiny different shape than what "Endlessly" was. I can't complain with this vocals and production though, lyrics are nice too.
πΏ 03) CHUNG HA - Everybody Has / QUERENCIA
βΌ Very lovely song and a totally different genre from "Dream Of You", which I appreciate! I like when artist try to explore different styles of music and kinda slay everytime they do that. This will definitely be taken in consideration, the track could've definitely been stronger but overall it was a relaxing experience.
πΏ 04) AMAARAE - Sex, Violence, Suicide / FOUNTAIN BABY
βΌ A unexpected two-part song, which changed my opinion of the entire thing completely. It started off in a way that just now I understand was just preparing us for the supreme 2nd part that I really liked. It seems like two different Amaaraes singing and I love that. She's truly doing her own thing and with those first two tracks I heard I still feel like she's about to serve some more.
πΏ 05) MELANIE MARTINEZ - NYMPHOLOGY / PORTALS
βΌ Ok this had its ups and downs but one absolutely good thing about this was that it didn't feel like 5 minutes, this was rly enjoyable and do I sense some Bjork vibes? Yeah I do (my 20 bjork songs listening helped). I rly love some parts and despise some others. I praise the insane production and melody but some lyrics and especially the vocals, a bit cringe. That spelling part? Pass. So yeah it was a particular experience.
πΏ 06) CHAPPELL ROAN - Kaleidoscope / THE RISE AND FALL OF A MIDWEST PRINCESS
βΌ Wow. Okay that was really good. For some reason I'd normally dislike songs like these but this felt different. I loved the lyrics but most than that it was the feeling of calm and peace I was sensing throughout the listen, her vocals were something else in this track. A bit similar to "California" but not that much. I'm really happy this album is starting out so great since I had high expectations. Great great!
πΏ 07) LAUREN SPENCER SMITH - Too Hurt To Fall In Love / MIRROR
βΌ Hmmm is this just gonna be a sad ballad album? I don't mind but at the same time I hope to hear something different. Vocals didn't really help this time, now I know what she can give with her voice, but can she use it in a different way? Still lovely and cute, I didn't dislike it.
πΏ 08) FLORENCE + THE MACHINE - Heartlines / CEREMONIALS
βΌ She sounds so powerful once again and I although I probably prefer last round's song, this was also high quality! I feel like her vocals might start sounding a bit repetitive by next rounds but they're so good too like? The song was rly nice, I always loved powerful stuff, although this lacked a bit on the surprise elements, probably didn't need them much. A simple track I suppose. I don't mind...usually.
πΏ 09) CARLY RAE JEPSEN - Let's Get Lost / EMOTION
βΌ Okay this was an improvement from last track. This was rly enjoyable, and yet another example of how trumpets improve any track, no matter how good it was already without them. It starts off mehh but then becomes catchier and I can easily vibe with it. Hopefully it'll get a placement good enough to stay after the flop of the first round.
πΏ 10) KESHA - Hymn / RAINBOW
βΌ A classy pop song with unoriginal lyrics but I kinda like where this is going. I'm definitely more into whatever the first song was and I hope to hear something that can unite all the good things about these first two tracks. This lacked a little bit of energy now that I think about it and could be influencing its ranking today, but good thing is I think this song is great.
πΏ 11) ILLENIUM - Lonely (with Chandler Leighton) / ASCEND
βΌ I'm not going to say the production is bad. I'm never going to, it is actually insanely good. But this song was 90% the same drop repeated 400 times. I had forgotten the girl singer's voice in the middle of my listening, I wished I could like this more but it was a bit unbearable at a certain point.
πΏ 12) HILARY DUFF - Outside Of You / DIGNITY
βΌ Aww this was really nice. Good instrumentals and extremely nice vocals as well. This was already proven in the first track, but this seems like an improvement! These are still "nice" songs though. Do I need a masterpiece? Yes. I feel like it's hidden somewhere, she has the vocal capacities and even lyrical ones. Can't wait for the next track, if this makes it alive today.

β ROUND 1+2 FINAL AVERAGES RANKING β
1st= | FLORENCE + THE MACHINE / Ceremonials 3.0
1st= | AMAARAE / Fountain Baby 3.0

9th= | LAUREN SPENCER SMITH / Mirror 8.0
11th | CARLY RAE JEPSEN / Emotion 10.5
12th | ILLENIUM / ASCEND 11.5
This means Illenium's "Ascend" is our first eliminated album. I wasn't disappointed by the quality but there were stronger entries and way more variety than in those two tracks I've heard.
There will be a chance to rejoin so this ain't the last time I hear this record, I can't just judge it based on two songs amirite?
That's all for now see ya next round, maybe tomorrow, maybe in 100 years. Who knows?
As I stated in the signups blog, we're going to start by listening to one per album and rank them from best to worst.
Since eliminations are determined by the average ranking of the most recent two episodes, for this round we won't have any elimination, isn't it lovely?
_______________________________________________________________
But of course let's go to reveal tonight's line up with each opinion on the songs.
(All of the chosen songs were randomized and won't be repeated again in the game unless an album has used all its songs)
πΏ 01) CHUNG HA - Dream Of You (with R3hab) / QUERENCIA
βΌ This feels fresh and catchy. A pretty safe start for this album and I'm sure there's even better to be prepared for. Should I be scared that other tracks might be too basic? I'm honestly not sure what I can expect from this record, but the surprise factory will certainly help if the next round's songs are likeable. Great beginning.
πΏ 02) LAUREN SPENCER SMITH - Best Friend Breakup / MIRROR
βΌ Alright alright miss Spencer Smith, you have great vocals, but this felt insanely basic. You're lucky your voice is quite gorgeous and the harmonies make this a beautiful experience, but I just know the perfect ballad is hidden somewhere else in this album. With this song, I still cannot distinguish this girl from other pop girlies of her level but it's a cute start. She sounds professional, some chords were great and I'm curious for what's next.
πΏ 03) ILLENIUM - Takeaway (with The Chainsmokers & Lennon Stella) / ASCEND
βΌ Insane production and quality. This would've been my jam 3 years ago but now I'm searching for something way different. I understand why this song is severely streamed and viewed, it is really catchy but I feel like in these types of songs the chord progression is always very similar and it just doesn't drive me insane with something surprising. I had a great time though.
πΏ 04) HILARY DUFF - Happy / DIGNITY
βΌ Ohhhh I might have a really good time with this. This feels nostalgic I sense the vibes from those years, I'm really living. I feel like this had some parts where I lost a bit interest but this was a complete slay and she's a queen I can't wait to hear more from.
πΏ 05) MELANIE MARTINEZ - LIGHT SHOWER / PORTALS
βΌ I'll be really honest now. This isn't what I was expecting at all. Maybe this is a track that follows a different direction from the others, but if that's not the case, then I'm happy to hear more. This was cute and she's a great lyricist. This felt like a weird little nursery rhyme in an alien world idk how to explain it. This wasn't bad for sure!
πΏ 06) CHAPPELL ROAN - California / THE RISE AND FALL OF A MIDWEST PRINCESS
βΌ This had me thrilled ngl, I love the high vocals in this. This felt powerful, a nice track about the singer that feels homesick and realizes she wasn't prepared for a new journey she embarked in. Kinda relatable in a way. In terms of the melody and stuff, I have similar opinions to the ones I had for Lauren before, but maybe this track felt more exciting throughout the entire thing. I expect many different sounds from this record too.
πΏ 07) KALI UCHIS - Endlessly / RED MOON IN VENUS
βΌ Unlike Melanie, this was exactly what I expected to hear from this record. She's incredibly talented and those visualizers look gorg. I don't rly vibe 100% with this type of music but the way she sings can be appreciated by anyone. I'll try to put my genre preference bias aside and be positively surprised hoping to hear even something more exciting and memorable in the next rounds.
πΏ 08) KESHA - Rainbow / RAINBOW
βΌ I think I understood what to expect from this record. I honestly prefer this Kesha without that troubled past and that cringe-ass dollar sign. I'm gonna be rly honest when I say the first minute of the song was really boring and hard to get through, then the violins and strings and harmonies and beauty arrived and I started ascending a little bit. It was fun to listen to and the part where she goes "aaaaaah", the chords there were insane, I was rly relieved it got better. She sings from the heart and I appreciate it.
πΏ 09) CARLY RAE JEPSEN - Emotion / EMOTION
βΌ Right so, her voice is great, the vibe is nice, but I really didn't feel anything much. This just felt like a normal song, and normal ain't a great adjective to use. This makes basic songs sound like the most experimental thing ever, but I must admit this was what people loved back then. I don't want to think she peaked with Call Me Maybe 'cause I'm sure as hell she has way more to show, and I hope it's in this record somewhere. For now I haven't found it.
πΏ 10) SUDAN ARCHIVES - Home Maker / NATURAL BROWN PROM QUEEN
βΌ Sounds rly experimental, I bet she had a lot of fun making this record and there were some parts too that genuinely left me impressed. Her voice is also really soothing and gorgeous I feel like she could hit some high powerful notes for some reason I hope she does in the record (fritzy lmk if she does if u read this). Cute beginning. Maybe not one of my favs from this round but this 100% feels worthy listening fully.
πΏ 11) FLORENCE + THE MACHINE - Only If For A Night / CEREMONIALS
βΌ THIS. WAS. EXTRAORDINARY. It grew kinda slowly but GODDAMN when it hit. That was one of the most interesting tracks of this round. This doesn't sound basic at all, kinda opposite ngl. I've never heard anything like this before, and if this is the vibe I'll have to expect from future songs then SIGN ME FUCKING IN. WOWWWWWWWWWWWW.
Edit: I'm writing this after I listened to all the songs and I realized this is sampled in Goodnight Gotham from Rihanna that's why it sounded familiar LMFAOOOOO even better.
πΏ 12) AMAARAE - Big Steppa / FOUNTAIN BABY
βΌ OKAYYYY. I didn't expect to like it THIS much. The combination of those angelic vocals, plus STRINGS AND TRUMPETS? I was gagged I didn't expect that at all. A gorgeous mix of sounds that stays attached to the mind. I heard this girl is doing real great and I for sure can understand why even after this single track.

Congrats to Florence and MJFJUNE that submitted the album for the very first win of the season!
Those rankings will be added to the Round 2 ones and the average placement will determine our first eliminated album.
Overall this first batch of songs was really good, I'm not disappointed, and considering that few songs I've heard today are the hits of each album, based on popularity, it might mean there's better to come and I'm here for it.
That's all see ya next round, maybe tomorrow, maybe in 100 years. Who knows?
π» Now that the Pop Girlie game is over, I must concentrate on hosting a game I've been wanting to begin for a long time! It's called Slayful Albums to keep my "Slayful" brand alive after the two "Slayful Music" seasons I did during last spring.
Some album games have been started in the past weeks so y'all know what's going on. People submit albums, I listen to one song from each album, rank these songs and based on the rules, I eliminate one album at the time. Of course twists can happen to make this interesting and fun.
So yeah that's it, there'll be a gift prize for whoever submits the best album that ultimately wins the game!
Here are the rules for submitting and of the rounds:
β¬ Submissions
βΌ The album must have more than 12 tracks (interludes are not counted)
βΌ The album must have been released between the years 1995 and 2023
βΌ The artist must be alive (if a group, it must not be disbanded)
β¬ Game Rules
βΌ Each round, a song per album is listened (except some rounds where more could be listened, and the final rounds where more songs/all songs from an album will be taken in consideration). The songs will be ranked from best to worst based on my personal preferences.
βΌ The eliminations will be determined by the rankings of the latest two rounds. The album with the worst averages based on the most recent two rounds will be eliminated.
βΌ Some rejoin rounds might happen to give some albums a second chance. In rounds with a rejoin, there could be double eliminations, and therefore two songs listened per album.
βΌ The finalists will be six. There will be three final rounds of which the first two will eliminate two albums each, before the final duel between the remaining two albums, where ten songs will determine the winner.
JOIN NOW! Everything will be determined by me (winners, eliminations, rejoins) so you'll just be a spectator and if you don't understand the rules, you'll have time to do so.
Welcome back. It's been a while since this game first began, it was still summer and while taking a train home I decided to start this little series to ruin my sleep schedule even more!
After 100 literal days of voting, with many twists and turns, we reached the top 2. Two singers that will easily be remembered for ages and that deserve to be here. Some minutes ago I closed the voting, and I've got the result.
So let's just go on with it, BY A VOTE OF...

The winner of "100 Days Of Pop Girlies" is...

That's it. Season two? Leaving aside the matter on who would host it, there definitely should be a sequel to this journey. Many new amazing singers will soon find popularity and might join a future cast. This was a fun experience, thanks for the BIG engagement with the series and for the massive amount of votes received for a hundred days straight. Lots of love <3.
Welcome back! Let's see the pop girlie who's getting the boot! The wealthiest singer alive misses the finale by TWO votes that were added in the last ten minutes. This is why it's always important to vote a player in here. Sadly we must stop the music.
By a vote of 30-28-7, Rihanna, you are eliminated from "100 Days of Pop Girlies". Now leave!
IT'S THE FINALE!!! BRITNEY SPEARS VERSUS LADY GAGA! WHO WILL WIN "100 DAYS OF POP GIRLIES"? YOU DECIDE OF COURSE!
It's time for THE FINAL VOTING. Comment the pop girlie you want to CROWN THE WINNER. The pop girlie who has the most votes WINS THE GAME!!!!!
