WINNER UPDATE - NEW #15

imageBATES & ANTHONY - THE AMAZING RACE

I finally caught the finale, and I have to say that the season overall, if I had to compare it to a Survivor season, it would be like Gabon. It had all the right ingredients to be one of the worst seasons ever or at least a boring season, but was instead one of the craziest and most unpredictable seasons ever. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was glad that every single team in the Final 8 was so likeable, and for once I'm glad we got possibly the most likeable Alpha Male team in what has to be ages - the last ones were Brian and Greg from Season 7, right? And the best part about it is that they won.

Bates and Anthony, much like this season, had all the right ingredients to be a terrible team. They initially came off as boring, unfunny, and like they would breeze right through the race. Then the first leg happened.

Anthony: (to the country singer girls) "Great job by the way!"
Caroline/Jennifer: "Thanks! ^_^"
Bates: (quietly) "Oh go to hell, bitches."

Don't let this fool you into thinking they were assholes, because they became really good friends after the first few legs. Let this just be an indicator that this team would end up being a team that would rattle off joke after joke after snark after snark all race long. I certainly wasn't expecting it to come from these two, of all people.

While Max and Katie ended up the most fleshed out team of the Final 5, Anthony and Bates ended up being, surprisingly, the funniest (Joey is not funny kthnx). The simultaneous breakdown I saw most fans have over the fact that an Alpha Male team was actually the funniest team of the season was glorious and I began to appreciate these guys even more. I rooted for their win by the final legs because hey, an Alpha Male team hasn't won since Season 10, maybe this is their time to shine?

And of course they did - they weren't overdogs who won every leg (they only won four, but with a few major misteps on the way), they had trouble on a lot of the tasks, but overall they ended up putting out a satisfactory performance, and it leaves me with high hopes going into Season 23.

HelenCoops They weren't really that boring though! If you're paying attention, they have some of the best lines of the season.

Yerg Thank you!

Well when I rewatch it Inky I'll try to pay close attention, believe me rewatches can drastically change my opinions of people. Rewatch of TAR14 made me reconsider liking Cara and Jaime, before I was like "Well Cara is awesome so he balances out Jaime's meanness." but upon rewatch I found Jaime to be even more overwhelmingly terrible to the point I was embarrassed to say I supported them in the final three
