WINNER UPDATE - NEW #46

imageJillian MacLaughlin - BIG BROTHER CANADA

I feel like I'm taking my life into my own hands just by even mentioning her name, but here goes.

Like I mentioned in my Jun Song writeup, I haven't seen much of Big Brother US format. What I have seen wants to make me watch more (except BB8), so I went into BBCanada because everyone else I knew was, and I was pleasantly surprised by how things turned out.

Before I get into Jillian, I gotta address my stance on the twists - I DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT THEM. Yeah, they screw up an unimpeded format of the game, and yeah they're only there for teh dramaz, but I honestly liked them this season because they benefited my favourites - Canada's Veto saved Suzette (which in turn threw a wrench in Tom's plans, lol), and the returning houseguest was Gary, who was one of my favourites (and I also voted to send back in!). Plus, unlike most BBUS seasons, they didn't feel like they were explicitly put in there to save certain contestants like a certain Pandoras Box which will remain nameless Big Brother 13 cough cough.

But onto Jillian - Jillian, much like most people around this area of the list, had the misfortunte of not only being a more subdued personality in a house full of crazy, but also aligning with people who I really really dislike. Tom is a horrible person, Liza is almost as horrible, and Emmett, while a fantastic guy for gay rights (he really does a shitload for his brother as far as standing up for gay rights and stuff outside the house), was dull as dirt. So it's fair to say that while she was the only likeable person in most of her alliances, that wasn't really saying much. That, and I could barely tell her apart from Talla and Liza until about 5 weeks in, in which I remembered that Talla is the crazy person. She didn't really improve as much, plus I thought it was really stupid how open she was making her alliance/showmance with Emmett. I dunno if Canadians are just extra polite or something, but it seemed pretty stupid.

By the finale, I was surprisingly actually rooting for her mostly because of her physical game, which is not something I'm used to doing. That woman is a beast at challenges, with 4 Head of Household wins under her belt and never being targetted for it mostly because her alliance with Emmett, who won the other half of the challenges, meant she never got the chance to be targetted. I was hoping she'd break the all-time record and slaughter the other two in the final vote, but alas it was not meant to be.

Unfortunately for Jillian as a winner, she is forever going to be marred by Topaz being a fucking moron and voting for her by accident, which is also part of the reason why she's down this low on the list. Granted, Gary would probably be lower despite be liking him because of him having an asterix next to his name as far as winners go. I'm taking my life into my hands just by writing this out, so regardless, I feel it's a mark against Jillian that one of the people who voted for her miraculously didn't actually want to vote for. It's endlessly lulzy, but for the purposes of this list it brings her down.

I'm ultimately satisfied with Jillian as a Big Brother winner, but there were people I was rooting for instead. Unfortunately, the last person I wanted to win left in 4th place, so props Jillian!

I feel like she shouldn't even be counted as a winner, even though officially that is what it says :P

Jillian's win was rewarding in the sense she played a decent game, but you can't compare her win to other BB winners as hers will be the strangest in history with how it went down

HelenCoops For arguments sake, I will :P

Clutch8791 But I can compare her win to other RTV contestants, so for the sake of this list yay, she's here.
