Ethan Zohn is the third winner of Survivor, beating Kim Johnson 5-2 to win Survivor: Africa. He is one of the most respected and well-liked winners of all time because of his overall clean game play. He aligned himself with Big Tom, Kelly, Kim J., and Lex. Lex and Ethan were incredibly close. All of them were able to make the merge. After an explosive fight, Kelly turned on them, but Ethan and his allies held onto the numbers, eliminating the remaining members of the other tribes. Kim ruined Tom, Ethan, and Lex’s plan by winning the last two immunities, resulting in them turning on one another. Ultimately, she chose Ethan to go to the end with because he “deserved” it.
Naturally, he was asked back for All Stars. Unfortunately for Ethan, the winners were targeted early and even worse, he was on a losing tribe, putting him at risk during the first two tribal councils. When his tribe dissolved, he found himself on the outs and was voted out by his tribe on Day 21, pre-merge, including by Lex. Despite not making the merge, he did out last the other three winners competing, including his future ex-fiance Jenna Morasca. Following his Survivor appearances, he suffered a bout with cancer, becoming a cancer survivor. He also appeared on numerous television programs, including The Amazing Race. He and Jenna were considered for Survivor: South Pacific but declined.

Kim Johnson is known for being the runner-up of Survivor Africa, losing to Ethan Zohn. She is the oldest woman to make it to the Final Tribal Council and oldest person to win final immunity. She was part of the Boran tribe, where she aligned with Ethan, Lex, Kelly, and Big Tom. After a tribe swap, she was able to communicate with her old tribe mates that Lindsey had votes cast against her, which was instrumental for them to have the numbers. Her alliance made the final four and they took out Big Tom. During the final immunity challenge, Kim won, ruining Ethan and Lex’s plan to go to the end together. Ultimately, she couldn’t convince the jury of her peers to grant her the win, losing to Ethan 2-5. Being the oldest person on the season, she expected to be the first voted out and defied odds and expectations.

Lex was the final member of the Survivor Africa jury and would later re-appear on the All Stars season. He was portrayed as sort of an antagonist and foil to his buddy/good guy Ethan.
Lex started out on the Boran tribe and quickly alligned himself with Big Tom and Ethan. Kim Johnson was eventually included. After the merge, he received two votes, one of them a mystery who cast it. He blamed Kelly for the vote, resulting in her turning on their alliance and her eventually vote out. The rest of the Boran remained loyal to the final 4, with Ethan and Lex having a final 2 deal. Kim ruined their plans by winning final immunity, and voted out Lex because she thought Ethan was more deserving. He voted for Ethan to win.
He returned to All Stars, alongside his ally and friend Ethan, whom he ended up voting out. He made a deal with Boston Rob to keep Amber safe, only for Rob to turn around and betray him, voting him out, making him the first member of the All Stars jury. Angry Lex scorched the two and voted for Amber out of revenge.

Big Tom was a charismatic goat farmer who appeared in both Survivor Africa and All Stars. In Africa, he was part of the Boran tribe, whom viewed him as a comical father-figure. He switched tribes during a tribe swap and remained in the majority after a successful tiebreaker went his way. He made the merge and reunited with his Boran alliance, consisting of Kim, Lex, Ethan, and Kelly. The Boran alliance (minus Kelly) stayed loyal to eachother, making the final four. In the final 4, the other three felt he was covering his strategy with his humor, voting him out 3-1 on Day 37. He voted for Ethan.
Tom later returned for Survivor All Stars and was on the dominant Chapera tribe. He was part of Rob and Amber’s alliance and played an under the radar game. They made it to the merge, but he was ultimately betrayed by Boston Rob on Day 36. He would later vote for Amber to win the game to get back at Rob, resulting in his loss.
He was the 100th person voted out of Survivor during All Stars. He was considered for Heroes vs. Villains but didn’t make the cut. He was offered a spot on Blood vs. Water but turned it down.

Teresa, or T-Bird, was one of the most popular castaways from Survivor Africa. She started off on the Samburu tribe, who enjoyed a winning streak initially. An age divide forced Teresa into aligning with the other older members of the tribe, Carl, Linda, and Frank. A tie breaker resulted in her alliance being in the minority. She was a sitting duck, but was saved by a tribe swap. She and Frank joined Boran. Teresa was instrumental in the initial vote outs once the tribes merged. She won the first Individual Immunity and used it as leverage (her anonymous vote for Lex creating discord in the tribe). But the Samburu tribe didn’t stick together, so one by one they were eliminated, ending with T-Bird herself, who was voted into the jury Day 36. She voted for Ethan to win the game.
Teresa was considered for Survivor: All Stars but did not make the cast. She also was one of 32 contestants whom the public voted for a chance to return for Survivor Cambodia - Second Chances. Teresa campaigned very hard and many were shocked when she didn’t ultimately make the cast.

Kim Powers was the fourth member of the jury, placing 6th overall. She started the game on the Samburu tribe, which enjoyed a healthy winning streak initially. An age divide emerged and Kim aligned with the other younger castaways, clashing with Frank’s military style. Despite tribe swaps ruining her alliance of four, Kim was able to adapt, making the best of her situation. She made the merge and ended up turning on her own ally, Brandon. Ultimately, Kim was on the bottom of the totem pole and found herself voted out 4-2, with the original Boran sticking together. As a jury member, she voted Kim J. to win the game. After the show, she married Survivor: The Amazon castaway Alex Bell, whom she has children with. Who knew?

Frank was the third member of the jury, placing 7th overall. He started the game off on the Samburu tribe, where he was aligned with the other older members of the tribe. His military background rubbed the younger castaways the wrong way and he thought they were lazy. He appeared to be a sitting duck when the younger kids had the numbers advantage, but a tribe swap allowed him and T-Bird to last longer than they would’ve otherwise. Upon the merge, T-Bird tried to reunite the Samburu tribe, young and old, but Frank intensely hated Brandon. Brandon would ultimately flip and join the Boran tribe. Ultimately, his personality and beliefs resulted in him being unanimously voted off. He voted for Ethan to win. He was the last male Samburu standing.

Brandon was the token gay of Survivor Africa. He was on the Samburu tribe and a part of the younger Samburu alliance. After a tribe swap resulted in the loss of Silas and Lindsey, Brandon considered turning on Kim P., the remaining member of his alliance. He had a rocky relationship with homophobe Frank, whom he shared a memorable date reward with. He ultimately turned on his alliance and joined up with the Boran alliance to vote out Kelly because of his disdain for Frank. Because of his disloyalty, his allies would vote him out immediately after Kelly, making him the second member of the jury. He ultimately voted for Kim Johnson at the Final Tribal Council. He was the first gay person on a Survivor jury.

Kelly was the first member of the Survivor: Africa jury. In the first part of the game, she played under the radar but a tribe swap forced her to make moves. She used info she collected about Lindsey’s past votes to get her evicted during a tie breaker. She made the merge and joined the majority in evicting Clarence. Lex received a vote and blamed Kelly for it (even though it was T-Bird), so her allies turned on her. Kelly in response turned on them, joining the Samburu side, but Brandon flipped to the Boran side, which ultimately resulted in her voted out 5-4. Her jury speech was iconic: she asked the final 2 to pick a number between 1 and 1000. She was the youngest person on the season, was known for her hilarious confessions, and sadly hasn’t been asked back yet. Currently, she is a successful professor and intellectual. She voted for Ethan to win the game.

Clarence is best known for stealing a can of beans on one of the first days of Survivor Africa, which alienated him from the rest of his tribe and made him a target for the first couple of Tribal Councils. Despite this, he managed to make the merge stage of the game. He threw the first individual immunity challenge after T-Bird promised not to vote for him. His tribe mates voted him out anyways, right before the jury stage. He is the youngest male on Boran and recently appeared in the 2016 film Batman vs. Superman. He tied with Lindsey with the most votes cast against him (12).

Lindsey was part of the young person alliance on Samburu and enjoyed their early winning streak and targeted the elders when they did lose. However, a tribe swap sent Silas to Boran, with 3 former Boran tribe joining Samburu. Lindsay had votes cast against her during the Carl vote off, so based on the tiebreaker rules, past votes were counted against them during a tie. With 3 Samburu-3 Boran, the votes were definitely going to tie, so the Samburu 3 tried to convince the Boran 3 that Brandon had past votes against him. They didn’t believe him, instead voting for Lindsay, which resulted in her going home during a tiebreaker. She is the last person (out of three total) to be eliminated due to the previous vote rule and she had more votes cast against her this season than any other, the only pre-merge evictee who can claim that distinction. She was randomly in Eminem’s Without Me music video with Jenna Lewis.

Silas was a competition beast, helping his original Samburu tribe to an early winning streak. He was also in a tight alliance with Brandon, Lindsey, and Kim P. They targeted the older members of their tribe, sending Carl and Linda home. During Linda’s vote out, the older tribe decided to make Silas vulnerable by casting votes against him, to weaken him in the future in the event of a tie. In a twist, Silas and the two remaining elders were swapped to the Boran tribe. The elders swore loyalty to the original Boran members and Silas was blindsided 5-1, making him the first unfortunate victim of a tribe swap. He was the youngest male on his season.

Linda was fourth person voted off of Survivor Africa and the second member of Samburu to leave. She was part of the older person alliance consisting of Frank, T-Bird, and Carl (voted out 14th). The tribe was split young vs. old. Now in the minority, the fate was sealed for the older faction—Silas wanted them to vote for Lindsay, so she would have more votes counted against her (which was how tiebreakers were decided). As a fuck you to Silas, the three channeled their votes towards him to make him vulvernable in the future, even though Linda was evicted in a 4-3 vote on Day 12. She was the oldest female of her tribe.

Carl was a member of the Samburu tribe. Right away, his tribe had a winning streak, allowing them to avoid two straight tribals. However, the tribe was fractured by age, the older contestants thought the young were lazy. The young formed a four person alliance, so Carl formed an alliance with the other three older members of his tribe. They lost the third immunity challenge—the older members funneled their votes towards Lindsay, the young towards Carl. To break the tie, Carl & Lindsay had to answer questions about nature, which ultimately sent Carl home after he answered a question wrong. He is the only contestant to have been sent home over a tiebreaker quiz. He was also the oldest member of his tribe and oldest male on the season. He was the third voted out and the first from Samburu to leave.

Jessie was a member of the Boran tribe and the second person voted out of Survivor: Africa. She found it tough to acclimate to the tough Kenyan weather and found herself ill during her short stint. Boran kept losing challenge after challenge and when they lost their second straight tribal, Jessie was regarded the weakest and she was voted out Day 6.
