Carl was a member of the Samburu tribe. Right away, his tribe had a winning streak, allowing them to avoid two straight tribals. However, the tribe was fractured by age, the older contestants thought the young were lazy. The young formed a four person alliance, so Carl formed an alliance with the other three older members of his tribe. They lost the third immunity challenge鈥攖he older members funneled their votes towards Lindsay, the young towards Carl. To break the tie, Carl & Lindsay had to answer questions about nature, which ultimately sent Carl home after he answered a question wrong. He is the only contestant to have been sent home over a tiebreaker quiz. He was also the oldest member of his tribe and oldest male on the season. He was the third voted out and the first from Samburu to leave.
