Hell's Kitchen S18 Power Rankings (Pre-Game: Top 16)

imageA new season of Hell’s Kitchen and I am beyond excited. All Stars was filled with some serious talent, so the fact that we are getting 8 more Vets is awesome. Of those 8 vets, 7 of them made it to black jackets, and 3 of them made it to the finale. One of them is (in my mind) the greatest runner-up the show has seen (Kevin), in one of the best finale matches ever. As for the rookies, I don’t know them too well, so I will be judging them on their basic intros. As soon as the introductions are over, I will post these rankings to get the most accurate pre-game predictions (because I literally know nothing about these rookies). Here we go!

16. Gizzy Barton- Gizzy is already making comments before the signature dishes start. Whoop. I think that’s an easy first boot, no? It’s probably the best bet for these power rankings, so why not?!

15. Scotley Innis- Scotty seems to be a pretty confident guy. He’s tight with Gizzy, which will probably show that they share a lot of the same traits. I don’t have a great read on him.

14. Jen Gavin- Jen was a mess on her season, despite coming so close to the end. Season 4 was the first season I ever watched and if anyone should NOT be coming back, it’s her. She’s my prediction for the first Vet gone.

13. Trev McGrath- Trev is gonna be a problem this season, I think. I didn’t like him on his original season, and I think he’s way overconfident. Jen and Trev are definitely the weakest of the bunch of Vets, and I don’t think he’ll get anywhere close to Black Jackets.

12. Scott Popovic- Scott already owns a restaurant, I guess? This doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s going to do well in the competition. We’ve seen from Ramsay’s past shows like “Kitchen Nightmares” that sometimes restaurant owners might not be ready to be restaurant owners. I could see Scott being surprisingly difficult to work with down the line, but a good enough chef to hang in there for some time.

11. Jose DeJesus- Jose’s introduction was very short, which makes me wonder if he’ll find a voice in the kitchen.

10. Roe DiLeo- Roe is the person I recognize the least from her season, but I do remember her. I just think there are so many titans on her team, and I don’t see her being one of them. But I’d love to see her prove me wrong because she is extremely likable.

9. Kanae Houston- Working for Eric Greenspan is pretty great for her resume. She’s also getting lots of good confessionals in these early moments. She’s going to be a very good narrator for the season and provide some memorable moments I think.

8. “Motto” Chris Motto- I like Motto. He seems to be humble and there to cook. Not there for drama. I can see him going far.

7. Ariel Fox- I don’t remember Ariel being too memorable, but she came in third, so I think she’s definitely got some credit to her name. She just got outshined by Kevin and Dave on her season, and I expect her to get overshadowed by Kevin yet again.

6. Mia Castro- Mia is going to be a big personality, I can already tell. But she also seems like she’ll be pretty strong, and may emerge as a leader on the rookie side of things.

5. Chris Mendonca- Chris is funny off the bat, and I think Ramsay really likes him. He seems like he could be a wildcard. I don’t know if he’ll bring drama or be pretty chill. But he’s gotten a lot of confessionals in the beginning of the episode, so I think he’ll be one of the longest lasting Rookies.

4. Bret Hauser- Bret has a story to root for. I like his spirit. I don’t remember his cooking very much, but he has been heavily featured in promos for the season, so I think he’ll make it pretty far. I like the guy.

3. Heather Williams- I really like Heather, and she also seems like she’s still got a perfect mindset to go far (considering she competed so recently). I really love Heather and I think she’s going to go pretty deep.

2. Kevin Cottle- Kevin is one of the best runner-ups this show has ever seen. I think the Kevin vs. Dave showdown is what made me love the show. I’m picking him to win and I will be rooting for him until he gets eliminated or.. WINS.

1. T Gregoire- I love T. She is such a hard worker, and I’d really love to see her win. Between her and Kevin, it’s really hard to pick who I think the winner will be. Maybe the first ever HK tie? If she doesn’t win, she’ll at least make it to the endgame I think, because she made it that far in Season 14 effortlessly and as Nick, Milly, and Michelle proved last season, Season 14 is here to STAY. She’s my winner pick.

So, the signature dishes are about to begin, so I’ll leave you with this. I love the Vets, especially T, Kevin, Heather, and Bret. Chris and Mia seem like the most promising Rookies. Everyone else will have to show more of themselves for me to get a full read on them. Bottoms up!
