Top 10 Tuesdays: Top 10 Characters in Infinity War

Apr 30, 2018 by PowerRankings101
imageFor the top ten this week, I am ranking the top 10 characters in Infinity War. This will not include spoilers, but if you want to see Infinity War as open minded as possible, I’d turn away now.

Honorable Mentions: War Machine, Falcon, Rocket Raccoon, Doctor Strange, T’Challa/Black Panther, Loki

(Most Disappointing? Probably Star-Lord, and more Hulk would’ve been nice)

10. Drax- Drax didn’t have a ton to do in this film, but he is still the funniest of the Guardians, and I ate up every joke delivered. His humor is incredible, and livened up some darker scenes.

9. Vision- Vision had a lot at stake in this film because of his possession of one of the Infinity Stones. But Paul Bettany brought such a layered performance to his character that had us invested in him the entire time.

8. Scarlett Witch- The other half of the Vision/Scarlett Witch romance. Elizabeth Olsen finally ditched the accent and allowed for some amazing acting moments, particularly with Bettany. She kicked ass and continues to be one of the best Avengers to watch in battle.

7. Ebony Maw- The only newbie on this list, but damn was he an awesome character. Terrifying for sure, and a very powerful villain. The design of the character also made him scary, which lent itself beautifully to the already dark and nerve-wracking plot.

6. Iron-Man/Tony Stark- Stark is always hit or miss, but this was some of Robert Downey, Jr.’s best acting in the MCU. Incredibly vulnerable, and I thank Gwyneth Paltrow’s return as Pepper for that. Gotta love the man that started it all.

5. Okoye- Okoye was given lots to do in Black Panther, but seemed second in importance to King T’Challa (rightfully so, it was his movie). But in an ensemble piece, she really shined as the MVP for Wakanda, kicking so much butt and teaming up with Scarlett Witch and Black Widow for one of the best moments in the film.

4. Spider-Man/Peter Parker- I love Spidey. I realized that Tom Holland is one of the most impressive actors in the MCU, and Spidey definitely works better as a part of an ensemble than he does on his own. He is a good side character throughout, adding to Stark’s story arc. But he has a scene in the end that shows off some of the best acting in the MCU.

3. Gamora- Gamora was always one of my favorite Guardians, and this film made her an MVP yet again. Gamora had the most personal stakes as she was teaming up against her daddy Thanos. But the scenes between her and Thanos were truly captivating and interesting, and Saldana’s performance is one of the best in the film.

2. Thanos- If Thanos sucked, the film would suck. Thanos was badass. His motivations weren’t necessarily accepted by moviegoers, but they were understood. We understood why he did the things he did, and the character (in just one film) already secured his spot in the MCU Villain Hall-of-Fame as well as the Movie Villain Hall-of-Fame.

1. Thor- Thor by far had the greatest story arc in this film. After “Ragnarok” brutally ripped the character bare (no hammer, no Asgard, no father), Thor got his redemption, showing off amazing action moves and delivering great lines of dialogue. His struggles were hardest to overcome and by the end of the movie, you can’t deny how epic his godly character is. By far the MVP of the film. Go Chris Hemsworth!
