Last time, I ranked who I was most excited to see in Infinity War. But now I’m going to rank who I think is most likely to die. A tough topic I know. But a necessary one to speculate.
10. Thanos- There’s no way that Thanos is entirely safe. Lots of Avengers are teaming up against him. But the fact that this was originally going to be a two part film makes me think that Thanos could survive at the end of the day and make an appearance in the next film. Also, to build up his character so much only to get rid of him in one film seems unlikely.
9. Pepper Potts- Pepper made a return in Spider-Man: Homecoming and I was incredibly excited to see her. Other fans were also excited, so I don’t know if they’d rush into killing her off. But killing Pepper would be a huge strike to Tony Stark’s character, so don’t count it out. I hope this movie ends with a marriage of Potts and Stark, not a funeral.
8. Captain America- Cap is a lot of people’s most likely Avenger to die. But I disagree. Cap may be close to retirement, but I don’t think he’s done. Chris Evans has already signed on for Avengers 4, so either this is a flashback and he’s faking us out, or he survives this one. Killing someone as huge as Cap would be bold, but I think he has one more film left in him.
7. War Machine- Rhodey almost died in Captain America: Civil War. Would they take another shot at him? I’m not sure if they will. But he’s already got injured legs, so he has to watch himself.
6. Loki- Loki obviously has the Space Stone. This means Thanos is going to get a hold of it. Whether Loki hands it over, confirming his villain status, or if Thanos kills him for it is unknown. Loki has flip-flopped between hero and villain so much throughout this series, so to see him get a heroic end would probably make more sense than him going back to being the bad guy. So for this reason, I think he dies.
5. Drax the Destroyer- Drax’s mission is to kill Thanos himself. But he’s going to need help. If he gets over eager and decides to go 1 v. 1, he’s toast. Also the fact that Dave Bautista is not as “A list” as Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, or Bradley Cooper causes some concern for Drax’s future.
4. Iron-Man- There are two reasons Iron-Man could go down. One- Robert Downey Jr’s contracts demand a lot of money. Disney has the money, but they may want to put it elsewhere. Two (the more likely option)- Iron-Man has been the central character of the MCU since kickstarting it in 2008. To lose the OG leader of the franchise would be heartbreaking, yes…but it would also set up for an even better sequel.
3. The Collector- He’s a minor character, but Benicia del Toro is returning as the Collector. And he’s got an infinity stone. Boom, dead.
2. Nebula- Nebula is the newest Guardian of the Galaxy. Unfortunately, her stay may be shortened. She and Gamora are Thanos’ daughters, so there is bound to be an epic showdown. Gamora is crucial to Star-Lord’s storyline, so there’s no way she’s dying. Nebula, on the other hand, feels a bit more accomplished in her story arc as her and her sister made up in the last film. So she has a high probability of saying goodbye to the franchise.
1. Vision- Oh Vision. Poor guy. He has an Infinity Stone in his head. That doesn’t necessarily mean certain death…but it means he’ll return to some other form and be ultimately powerless. And without power, he’s just dead weight that is easy for Thanos to kill. Poor guy.
