Survivor S35 Power Rankings (Finals)

Dec 20, 2017 by PowerRankings101
imageThe finale is here. This season has had its ups (stripping for idols, lots of blindsides, and sneaking extra votes in bras) and its downs (loved one reward challenge, Cole stealing food, revealing too many secrets). Nonetheless, this season has been a pretty unpredictable one, providing enough twists and turns to keep us entertained but not take away from the game itself (like last season’s mess of “Game Changers”). I think the high point for this season was how no one person has stuck out with a winners edit. Each of our final five has reasons why they could win and downfalls that could cost them the win. What it’s really going to come down to is who wins immunity, who makes the move to take out Ben (if Ben even gets taken out), and jury management. Here we go, one last time for this season.

5. Ben Driebergen- I think the group made a ridiculously dumb mistake not following Ben when he was looking for an idol. They made an even bigger mistake not assuming Ben had an idol. But now that Ben has fooled them twice, they’ll be on his tail. Ben needs to win immunity or find the Last idol (if there even is one) if he wants to have a shot at making it to the final three. He has the most reasonable “winner’s edit” this season, but he also has the toughest road getting there. People know they’ll lose to him if they let him get to the finals, so I don’t see how Ben survives more than two tribals unless he has immunity.

4. Ryan Ulrich- I think people realize Chrissy and Ryan are inseparable, so when it comes down to four, whoever is against Chrissy and Ryan will most likely vote for one of the two. Chrissy has a better chance at winning challenges, so I think Ryan will be the one they put votes on because if Ryan ends up in a fire making challenge, there is no way he’ll be able to make a fire quicker than Mike, Ben, Chrissy, or Devon. Ryan relies on his social skills, and I think the fact that he hasn’t been much of a help at camp will come back to bite him when he loses an inevitable fire making challenge.

3. Chrissy Hofbeck- Chrissy has won immunity challenges, gotten big threats like Ali, Roark, Ashley, and Jessica out, and has created a strong alliance with Ryan. She has the makings of a Survivor winner. But the thing going against her is possibly the most harmful thing, and that is jury management. While she has strategically done a good job worth votes, nobody likes her enough to award her the money. She plays a very personal game and is very vocal, which is Chrissy’s weakness, especially in the last few weeks. I think she has what it takes to get to the end, but I don’t think she’ll be able to get the respect from the jury.

2. Mike Zahalsky- Mike has been the biggest question mark all season. His alliances have crumbled week after week, he has always been on the outside looking in, and he threw Lauren’s idol in the fire! I don’t know what his true “moves” were to validate a win, but I think he’s well liked and well respected amongst lots of people. People may say that Mike stands no chance at winning the game, but you have to remember that the jury is made up of people who Mike hasn’t screwed over, with the exception of Lauren (who might even respect Mike’s bold decision to throw her idol in the fire). Cole, Desi, and Joe are all original Healers and like Mike a lot, so if Mike makes the end, that may be three guaranteed votes right there. Mike needs to have a killer speech to clinch the win, but I don’t think his chances are that bad.

1. Devon Pinto- Devon has been a joy to watch this season, allowing his impeccable social game mask his equally powerful strategic game. I think people like Devon, but don’t see him as a super big threat (he hasn’t received a single vote all season). People don’t think Devon has made moves, because his moves are all done at the beach (unlike someone like Ben or Joe, who showed all their moves at tribal council). But when Devon sits in front of the jury, he’ll be able to explain how he was able to make the relationships he needed to make it to the end. Devon’s biggest move was organizing the JP blindside and having Ben play the “double agent role.” While Ben did a great job executing the plan, the plan was all Devon’s from the start, and if Devon can sell himself to the jury, then I don’t see them NOT giving him the win. While his moves were a little less “spectacular,” Devon played an amazing game and will hopefully walk away with the million dollars at the end of the night.

PREDICTIONS:

Winner- Devon Pinto

Second Place- Mike Zahalsky

Third Place- Chrissy Hofbeck

Fourth Place- Ryan Ulrich

Fifth Place- Ben Driebergen
