That is the entire first season of Slasher. I made this blog because there's so much behind the scenes work that none of you know about. First of all, I wanna talk about the inspiration. Last year it was announced that Friday the 13th game would come out, and although I didn't donate to Kickstarter for it, I watched the $ grow and grow each week and I saw the teaser trailers as they came out and I was so freaking excited for it. When it was released I watched livestreams of youtubers playing it for days, until one day I went onto my notes and just made up this storyline of a killer attacking 12 teens at a campground.
Then I decided to make it into a miniseries for Tengaged, so I made applications and instead of picking the 11 most interesting characters, I'd try to match up each "template" character I had in mind with an application someone gave me. There were a lot of cuts and last minute decisions, and honestly I liked the cast I received. Some characters shone brighter for a reason, but for example I gave Jake a lot of airtime in the Pilot episode because people would think "wow, he's a nice character I don't want to- oh wait he just died". I wanted it to be a Game of Thrones type thought process where you have no idea who's going to die, I mean I haven't even given the status of whether Tessa Cooper is alive or not.
Another thing was, there were a lot of differences from the original plan and the final product. Two things I really wanted to keep was the ending of the first episode and the ending of the final episode. But there were a number of differences, here's as many as I can think of:
•Jake and Jessica, the couple, instead of just making out near the end of Episode 1, they'd be outside playing a prank and Jessica would pretend to be dead. She'd scream and everyone would run inside, then Jake gets hit in the back of the head with an axe. Jessica screams and runs off, and that would be the end of Ep1 and the beginning of Ep2
•In Ep2 Rylan and Mason were running when The Killer stabbed Mason in the leg, not him getting a twisted or broken ankle from a pothole in the dirt road, but the change sounded more realistic. After that Rylan kept running until he triggered a tripwire which activated a log swinging and hitting Rylan over, knocking him out. Think Trisha Wellington's bike ride from Harper's Island.
•After Reese's death, Tessa feels like Jessica is The Killer and runs off into Eagle Cabin, where she catches Tobias and Cordelia having sex. Instead of her standing there, they stop and Tobias gets Tessa to do hits from a bong and the three get high.
•Rylan wakes up and Mason, instead of hitting him with the stick, has a pocket knife and cuts Rylan's dick off. I decided not to be that gross but Mason made a joke when Mason was taking Rylan's pants down he'd say "this is not how I fantasised your clothes being taken off, to be honest"
•Back at the Eagle cabin, after the three are totally tripping, Tobias wants to do a threesome but both girls disagree so Tobias knocks Cordelia out and rapes Tessa like that.
•This one was actually a big difference. Elizabeth was supposed to be the one who escaped in the boat, not Fantasia and Nick. Because the Tengager who applied as Elizabeth was inact and only commented once the entire time, I decided to let Fantasia be the survivor. Nick was the one who was supposed to be killed by The Killer in the Bear Cabin, but Nick was supposed to let Edgar and Elizabeth climb out the window while he tries to shoot The Killer but it has no ammo, and The Killer hacks off his limbs and then decapitates him. Fantasia and Elizabeth them run to the boathouse when after a while, Elizabeth would start the boat and a spear would go right through Fantasia's forehead as Elizabeth drove the boat away.
•Additionally, there was no scene after the boat escape, but since I needed to fill a scene spot in the finale and Nick and Fantasia were both in danger, I added the scene on.
•When Cordelia wakes up, she uses a vase to smash over Tobias' head and then stands on his throat, killing him. In the final version, Cordelia uses a shard of glass to stab Tobias in the neck and then strangle him to death, I changed it because I wondered why would there be a vase in an abandoned campground.
•In the ending, Edgar and Mac said they were going to rape Tessa again as Tessa screams and it cuts to black, but I decided to cut that out.
•Also one of the BIGGEST differences was the "template names" to the applicant's names. So making the whole miniseries I had to name everyone (before I had the cast from Tengaged) so most of the 13 characters had different names:
Jake was still called Jake
Tessa was called Laura
Edgar was called Mark
Fantasia was called Elizabeth
Jessica was called Mari
Elizabeth was called Dani
Reese was called Chloe
Nick was called Cody
Cordelia was called Amy
Rylan was called Andy
Tobias was called Devin
Mason was called Phil
Mac was called Clark
In one episode I was writing at like 1/2am and I got Edgar and Mark mixed up and in the morning people were asking who Mark was. That is why, folks.
Also one last big thing I wanna talk about is about news on Slasher 2. Here's some interesting things and announcements:
•Slasher 2 will have a much bigger cast than last time
•Slasher 2 will reveal in the first scene Tessa's current status
•You will see more of Mac Anderson than any other character from Slasher 1
•Slasher 2 will have 8 episodes, 1 episode showing the aftermath of Slasher 1 and more development of the cast, 6 episodes of the party and the murders, and then 1 final episode which wraps the two seasons together in a nice bow, as I doubt Slasher 3 is going to happen.
•Expect more cliffhangers, in like 7 out of 8 episodes it will end in a cliffhanger of some sort. This season is more episode based rather than Slasher 1 which was a story divided into 6 episodes.
•Expect more death
•Expect more interesting deaths, including some environmental ones ;)
•In the "Casting Polls" blog, some people didn't read the instructions and gave themselves a 1 instead of 3 which was funny reading, but Victoria, Tatum and Katherine are the top 3 and CONFIRMED on the cast, the rest will have to wait
