M: Woah, I did not expect any of that, in a good way sorta. The intro had me thinking it was gonna be a feely song but it quickly switched to more pop/EDM and it kinda vibed! I think the chorus could’ve done a bit more and it left me wanting a more from the song as a whole, but otherwise it was pretty good! The production was very cool. 7/10
K: honestly had no idea what was going on the whole song but sing it bitch!! Whoever this is she ate that her vocals are really good. I got to listen to a ballad and attend an EDM concert all in one. This song seems fun to like be on drugs to. Personally I really liked this song a lot I thought it was a unique choice too. 9/10

M: Even though she’s a questionable human being, I do like Sia’s music. She has a very good voice and she finds a way to make her music catchy as fuck. I’ve actually never heard this before, but I enjoyed it! It send a nice message and I’m a fan of Sia’s darker production for sure. My only criticism is that I feel like this would get super repetitive after a while, as I found myself kinda getting bored of it towards the end. Definitely a good pick though. 8/10
K: Sia is very odd and I find her fascination with Maddie Ziegler weirder (this is not maddie hate that's a queen). As for the song it was good it didn't really stick out because it sounded like every other Sia song to me. I'm indifferent on it but it wasn't the worst pick. 7.5/10

M: LOL well this was certainly risky of you. There’s a lot of hate for this song, and I do get it. It’s annoying how much this song was played and her voice can be grating. You’re lucky neither of us are on the hate bandwagon for this song! 7.5/10
K: EVERYONE HAS BEEF WITH THIS SONG AND I DONT KNOW WHY. That being said it can either be really annoying or fun depending on whatever mood you're in. I really liked this song at first but my job started overplaying it so I've come to have a love/hate relationship with it. The chorus is fun whatever people are gonna disagree. 8/10

M: This was… very interesting! I’ve never listened to Marina before. She certainly has a unique style. To be honest I’m mixed on it. Some parts were really nice (those high notes were tasty) but other parts kinda made me wanna stop the song. It was very all over the place which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but during some parts I wish it was more cohesive. It was decent though. 6.5/10
K: Oh I love Marina and the Diamonds. I've actually never heard this song before but I really liked it. All of her music is destroy men
empowering and we have no choice but to stan. I like the lyrics but my only complaint with the song is that it has like 0 structure LOL. But Marina was an amazing artist choice. 8.5/10

K: LMAO this was such a funny pick. This song gives me the most specific nostalgia to elementary school field days eating those half and half ice creams with a wooden spoon...It's a great throw back song to trigger childhood memories but after the first chorus it was enough for me but good choice. 7.5/10

I’m not usually a huge fan of indie but this song goes together nicely. It also brings nice vibes and gives me nostalgia to middle school summers. I don’t LOVE it, but it’s good! 7.5/10
K: I've heard of Florence and the Machine before but never actually listened to them and thought they were just a rip off Lorde but oh I was wrong. I really enjoyed this song this is something I'd totally put on my feels playlist because the vibes I got from it are just immaculate. The only thing I dislike with music like this is that the songs are so long but it was SUPER GOOD. 9.5/10

M: I feel like I’m gonna get roasted for this because this song is definitely NOT well liked by the general audience but IMO this is one of Katy’s best, idc. I also have weird specific nostalgia of pregaming with my roommates to this song and we kinda popped off so that probably helps. 9.5/10

I didn’t think there was much special about it and once again I felt a disconnect to the part of the lyrics that I couldn’t understand, although that’s not really your fault. It’s still pretty fun and different though. 7/10

I will say that the chorus is kinda infectious even if it’s the most basic thing ever, and again the song is pretty easy to listen to even if I don’t really like it. 5.5/10
K: Rap is probably one of the genres I listen to most but this song was not it for me. I feel like these are pop punk men who couldn't get into pop punk so they turned to rap before soundcloud was a thing. The music video also terrified me I'm scared. It's not like bad it's just something I'd personally never listen to. 6.5/10

M: Uhh yeah I’m just not the biggest kpop fan. I don’t dislike it, but I definitely don’t go out of my way to hear it. I definitely have a disconnect when I can’t understand the lyrics though so it was tough to get super into it. Also like Krista said, the translated lyrics were like.. kinda off? I think the production was great and I liked the vocals, everything else I could leave though. I will say that I think this artist is pretty talented, at least based on this song. 6/10
K: K-pop is just not my cup of tea no matter how much I want to try to like it. Like all credit to them they go hard when it comes to production value and actually have talent but it's not my favorite. Round 1 is complete, and it was certainly an interesting round! A lot of you went for some well known and sort of basic songs (not a bad thing!) and some of them hit while others missed the mark.
I will say that there were no submissions we thought were terrible, but there were also not many great submissions either. We will take some of the blame for that, as it was clear that many of you didn’t quite understand what we wanted you to go for in regards to our theme. We wanted something that would get people hyped up and ready to see what was about to happen (think a wrestlers entrance or a pre-game sports song). Because of this, we decided to weigh the songs based on how much we liked it more than the theme itself, but we did take the theme into consideration still, so if you submitted a song that really hit the theme you still got a boost.

M: LOL @ this being from the soundtrack of FIFA 15, you thought you could slip that by me? You didn’t know what the theme meant but you still kinda killed it. I can definitely see this being used as an entrance, or even more so as the music to a promo package before a fight or sports game. As for the song itself, it’s really good and definitely my type of music. His voice fits this song so well and the vibes are awesome. Very nice pick! 9/10
K: I randomly really liked this song. This is going to sound weird but I can imagine it being used for like TV/movie fandom edits LOL. I’ve never heard of that artist but he’s really talented I liked the vibe of it. It’s definitely hype in a sense but wasn’t my fave for the theme however it was a good song!! 7/10

M: LOL this song is funny. CAN the club even handle you James? I don’t think so. No but honestly even though I simply cannot take Flo seriously, this song is good for what it is. It gives off electric vibes and although I think it’s better as a party type dance song, it also makes for a good entrance. Nice pick! 8/10
K: This song is definitely hype but it weirdly gives me more like coming of age/end of a movie vibes?? Also wasn’t this the song The Office used for Pam and Jim’s wedding LMFAO? Kind of an iconic pick but I’m not sure if it was the most on theme imo. 7/10

M: *1, 2 steps w/ Christian* This was a good choice. It’s a good song, has a nice beat and vibes that hit right. Although there are parts of the song that I think would be sorta weird as an entrance, most of the song (and definitely the beginning of the song) is on point. 7/10
K: *1, 2 steps w/ Christian* This song made me laugh out loud. It’s such a funny choice to me but it just kind of works? It’s hype, fun and the beginning and Miss Elliott’s parts were definitely on theme. I think the bridge and the rest was kind of weird for an entrance song but overall this was a really funny choice. 8/10

M: LOL the choices this round are so funny. Like Club Can’t Handle Me, I think this is better as a party/dance song but still can fit the theme and be a good entrance song. I also think the song is decent but I like other Ke$ha songs better, although this is probably the most fitting for the theme. It’s almost a little too basic poppy for me I guess. But still not the worst song and a decent pick. 6.5/10
K: I actually think the chorus to this song is so funny for an entrance song if someone used this I’d have no choice but to stan. This song was kind of overplayed but 2010’s Ke$ha is like crack not to mention the iconic random Victorious performance...She definitely has better songs out there but it wasn’t a bad choice. 7/10

M: I enjoyed this song! I’ve never heard it before but it has really nice vibes. The beat was fun and the chorus was catchy. What hypes you up is obviously subjective, but it didn’t really do that for me. Again, I did like the song and you’re getting points for that, but it didn’t give me the hyped up kind of feeling I would want when making an entrance. 6.5/10
K: This was my first time listening to this song but I actually really liked it. It’s definitely an original/creative choice!! Kind of like Matt said, overall the song was actually really good and I’d put this on one of my playlists but it doesn’t really fit the theme imo. I get more laid back/good vibes from this song but definitely not a bad choice. 6.5/10

M: Okay so I do like this song, and although I think Britney has better, this is obviously a classic. BUT, for me it could have fit the theme better. Like yes, it is a great song to dance to, but it’s not really something that would hype people up if you were about to perform something, ya know? The chorus SORTA gets there more, but overall it doesn’t totally match what I was looking for. The song is good though, and it’s certainly not a terrible choice. 7/10
K: Oh no I LOVE me some miss Britney (my own submission would be Toxic LMAO) but this song wasn’t the most on brand for me. It’s pretty tame for an entrance song I don’t think the crowd would decide to stan unfortunately. This song is a bop but she definitely has better choices for the theme imo :(. 6/10

Even though the song was just decent for me, you are gonna get mad points for matching the theme. This song makes for a great entrance song and definitely would get people hyped up. Honestly I forgot Imagine Dragons existed, they're basically the same thing as OneRepublic. That being said, this song kind of annoys me, I don’t really know why. I think it might just be the voice and the beat? It’s not a bad song, but it’s also not my favourite. 6.5/10
K: I think it’s an okay pick for the theme and I like how upbeat it is but this song was so overplayed whatever year it came out that it kind of triggers me. Definitely a bop when you’re five tequila shots deep but not my cup of tea :-(. 6/10

K: This song was super upbeat and fun I’m a big slut for some Conan Gray. I loved the video’s aesthetics and was that the actress from The End of the F*cking World LMAO?? M: I REALLY like this song. It’s so pretty and the lyrics are cute as fuck. If this was just based on the song you would easily be in the top 4. That being said, this simply is not a good entrance song. Like this song makes me want to sit down and have a cry, not get ready to do something. I’ll just say your points are coming solely based on me liking the song a lot. 6.5/10
K: I just don’t understand why you’d have me crying on a Wednesday morning. This is an amazing song but also makes me think of nothing but the last Twilight movie. It’s one of those songs that actually makes you feel something but it doesn’t really resonate with the theme unless your goal was to make people sob bc well done. 5/10

5 months of merging (fucking yikes)! I joined a tribe with some pals way back when the pandemic was just beginning and the site was somewhat active again. And now it’s October and the site is as dead as it was pre-Covid, so that’s fun.
I’m glad I got to reconnect with a bunch of people and meet a few new ones that are pretty cool as well. Just wanted to thank some of y’all for helping me out and making the streak fun, so here’s a short list (I’ll probably forget some, sorry!):
Survivor just isn’t what it used to be, and although I had fun merging with friends I won’t be doing it again for a long while. This sites falling on hard times unfortunately, and the owner just does not care. But I’m glad I got one last big one.
