When it comes to Oscar contenders going wide this weekend look no further than Poor Things being the best them all. This movie takes a Frankenstein type plot and molds a beautiful story for our main character Bella Baxter and she learns/matures her way into quite a complex being. On her journey Bella tackles and learns many issues in the world and has a lot of sex, a lot. Now Stone here delivers the performance of her career and is should be a shoo in for both a nomination and a 2nd career Oscar win in my opinion. Joining her that night will likely be Mark Ruffalo who played one of Bella's suitors in a way that he was such an annoying/pathetic man you cant help but laugh at throughout. The movie has so many layers of commentary, the score is beautiful as it is creepy and the production design is esquite! This was one of the best times at the theater in 2023
