***Clarified*** NEW Design Rules! Feb 28, 2011
Hello all!
We have been working very hard with our Design Approval Team on making some updates to the design rules as well as the design punishments.  Please note the following updates beginning TODAY.

First of all, everyone should note that all new designs need approval prior to posting in a shop by our Design Approval Team.  If you are unsure where to get this approval, it is in this group:
http://www.tengaged.com/group/7974
We ask that you please respect our Design Approval Team.  If they mail you concerning a design, please respond to them as you would to a Moderator.  If there is an issue with something they have mailed, please bring it to us, do not argue with them as they are just working to keep the designing game fair for all.

RULES:
1. You can create any of the following items, as designated by the active categories:

- Clothing
- Eyes
- Mouth
****NEW RULE*****
Mouthpieces/Masks are now permitted in the "Mouth" Category.  The design can not cover more than 50% of the face and MUST be placed over the mouth.
- Necklaces (necklaces are ONLY permitted in this category - they cannot be part of a clothing design. Scarves CAN be posted in this category but may also be posted as part of a clothing design.)
- Tattoos, scars and body art.
- Glasses
- Hair
- Hair accessories (hat, headband, bandana ...)
*****NEW RULE*****
-You are now permitted a small amount of blue in your designs. Covering an arm, or a small amount on the sides of the avatar will be permitted, however you are still not permitted to cover the entire avatar.  ALL DESIGNS CONTAINING BLUE MUST BE APPROVED BY OUR DESIGN APPROVAL TEAM.

2. Masks - don't fit into an existing category and therefore aren't allowed, BUT you can get around this a couple of ways:
- Put them into the tattoo/scar category - they can be "body art."
- If they stay on the top half of the face, you can put them in as glasses.  If you do this, please make sure you have eye holes.
*****NEW RULE****
-Mouthpieces/Masks are now permitted in the "Mouth" Category.  The design can not cover more than 50% of the face and MUST be placed over the mouth.

3. Backgrounds and items floating around in the background or detached from the avatar are still not allowed.

5. Designs with more than one item: These still aren't allowed (e.g., clothes + hair, hair + hat, etc)
Only exceptions:
-  Hair with  SMALL accessories such as ribbons and headbands that couldn't stand alone.
- Clothing containing extensions of arms
         http://www.tengaged.com.br/design/id-26809/natal-roupa-com-anel
- Random items like a pet on the avatar's shoulder or accessories such as sword can be attached to clothing items -
         http://www.tengaged.com.br/shop/our-teenage-dream_1142

6. Stealing Designs: Post designs without permission from the owner is COMPLETELY PROHIBITED and will result in a ban on first offense.  Get permission in a Tengaged message and save it so you can provide it to moderation staff in case of any confusion.

7. Scarves can be posted individually as necklaces OR as part of the clothing design.

8. Punishments for illegal designs have been updated  Read our profile for details: www.tengaged.com/user/Tengaged_Moderation

10.  Questions?  Ask before you post!

PUNISHMENTS:
10. Stealing designs -
We will do our best to protect the creative property of our users, but we suggest that you keep originals of your designs and other proof that you created it. If you've been given a design to post that is created by another user, make sure you get them to give you permission via a message ON TENGAGED (not skype) so you can produce it later if someone claims that you stole the design. May be extended if multiple offenses of illegal and stolen designs occur. If there is proof of design theft, the following are the punishments.

First offense = Removal of stolen design (and loss of all income/stock from it if it's in a shop) + 3-day blacklist + one-day ban.  Second offense = Removal of stolen design (and loss of all income/stock from it if it's in a shop) + 7-day blacklist + 3 day ban. Third offense = Removal of stolen design (and loss of all income/stock from it if it's in a shop) + 7-day blacklist + 1 week ban.

11. Illegal designs -
(Note - we may not catch them all in the design labs, but we will in the Shop Game, so this is where our focus will be.)
SEE RULES: http://www.tengaged.com/blog/Tengaged_Moderation/1060096/new-design-rules
If you post a design and it is removed, do not repost that design unless you've contacted us and gotten approval. Illegal designs include those that are in the wrong category or more than 1 design in the post.

1st offense-Removal of design + 1 day ban
2nd offense-Removal of design + 3 day ban + 7 day blacklist

Repeated offenses may result in long-term removal of access to the shop game, not allowing your shop to move on to the next week, or even bans.

Clear deliberate attempts to ignore the design rules or post without permission to bypass rules will result in a one-week blacklist.

11A. Designs that are obviously illegal, such as designs covering the whole avatar area, will not be permitted. Any designs posted before 4/19/2014 will be, for the most part, accepted unless it was already otherwise noted.

If you post such a design in shops the design will be removed, all profit will be lost and you will receive a one week ban. If you are seen wearing that design you will be asked to remove it within a certain time period. If you fail to follow through you will receive a blacklist until you email us saying you are ready to remove the design.

Posting of these types of designs will result in the following:
1st offense: Removal of all profit, 1 week ban +2 week blacklist + 3 month shop ban
2nd offense: Removal of all profit, 2 week ban +4 week blacklist + 6 month shop ban
3rd offense: Removal of all profit, 2 week ban +4 week blacklist + permanent shop ban

Spamming Clarification Feb 26, 2011
Recently, there have many reports about players spamming and I suppose we can give you a little bit of clarification of what we feel spamming is.

There was a blog written by us a while ago, and it said spamming 3+ pages will get you banned, but you have to understand that this is for when we had slow games. Now that games have gained some speed, we have been very strict on the spamming issue. We have no idea when Randomize will add slow games, or what he will do with the fast games but for now, please follow the below rules so we don’t have to ban anyone for spamming.

1. SPAMMING THE SAME MESSAGE MORE THAN THREE TIMES IN A ROW IS CONSIDERED SPAM. Don’t be smart and post four comments of the same thing, post the fifth as something different and start over. We are not stupid, and if we feel you are intentionally “spamming” (this can also include posting the same thing multiple times on multiple pages, even if they're not consecutive), we will have to give a 1 day ban (depending on how many times you have been banned for this in the past).

2. Spamming anything more than FIVE times in a row is considered spamming. Even if each message is different, if you post five messages back to back, this is considered spamming, and you can get a 1 day ban (depending on how many times you have been banned for this in the past).  Or if you are dominating a large portion of the posts on a page, that's spam too.  It's a bit subjective, but again, the question is whether something is becoming disruptive.  We will NOT ban for key ceremonies by the HoH in Rookies games, as it's part of the Big Brother experience.

3. Posting random letters, just to get plussed: Example (kjadkajdshahsdk) is considered spamming. If you do this once every now and then, we will not care. But if we see this posted two or more times on the same page, we will have to consider that spam as well.

Please don’t kill the social aspect of this game. There are players here who want to sit down, and enjoy the conversation of others without seeing “Good luck” posted by the same person 20 times just because they have nothing else to say.

4. E-mail or blog spam (sending repeated messages to someone just to get on their nerves) - If someone does that to you, filter them!  If someone sent you something excessive that will take you forever to delete, let us know - that may be punishable spam.

Reporting Spam: When reporting spam, please provide ONE screen shot of the spam. If you just send us a link the game, we will ignore it as comments change and it will never stay on the same page. If you need help in learning how to screen shot, please visit this blog: http://www.tengaged.com/blog/Tengaged_Moderation/496318/reporting-issues

Any questions about spamming, please post below.

"Hacking" auction bids for designs Feb 26, 2011
From the TOS -

You must not modify, adapt or hack Tengaged.com or modify another website so as to falsely imply that it is associated with Tengaged.com .

-------

Please don't do this anymore - it's in the TOS and is therefore against the rules.  If it is done in the auction games or in order to alter gameplay in any other way, you will receive a ban. And even if it doesn't have an impact, Randomize has the right to ban you for hacking so do so at your own risk.

Thanks!

New IP/Proxy Detection Dec 22, 2010
Some of you (Ty Runner430 for correcting the grammar error!) have realized that many people are being banned and red nosed. There has recently been a new feature added to the website finding those who use proxies to access someone's account.

After testing the program, we have noticed that you don't need to log on to another account to get caught. If you are using a proxy, that someone else is using, it will look as if you are using the same IP address as well.

Suggestions for everyone:

-Stop logging on anyone's accounts with or without a proxy. You are allowed one account, and we wish for you to respect that.

-Stop using proxies to access the website. Proxies are made to hide yourself, and you shouldn't have anything to hide.

-Some people will say that they use a proxy site to access Tengaged from school or work. Maybe there is a reason why Tengaged is blocked from work and school, and you should keep off the site anyway.

Edit: We have found that in a FEW cases users that have a similar cell phone/same carrier could share the same IP address. Our tools allow us to see if shared IPs are from a cell phone or other internet provider, so where this is the case, we will be pursuing it further.

We have found a website that will check if your IP address is from a proxy or a cell phone. (Which means don't try to lie and say you are logging on from a cell phone, when you are really using a proxy website.)

OLD design rules - left here for reference, but don't use these! Dec 20, 2010
Hi all -

We haven't posted an update on design rules lately, so we thought it was time.  Please see below, and note the change in the rule about hair/hair accessories  Also, let us know if there are any rules we're missing!

NOTE - the HAIR/ACCESSORY RULE IS THE ONLY CHANGE!

1. Designs with more than one item will be removed.

2. Related to #1 - A necklace category has now been added. Scarves are also placed in this category. Therefore, clothing that includes both a design and a necklace or scarf will be removed.

3. Masks are not allowed unless they are in the tattoo category.

4. Background images are not allowed.

5. Use of blue background color to cover the avatar is also not permitted.

6. Designs that offensive or harass a particular user are not allowed.

7. Designs placed in the wrong category will be considered illegal.

8. Other "objects" are not allowed. This includes anything an avatar is holding onto and extensions of body parts (arms, etc.).  Arms with muscles are allowed.  Lengthened arms (holding up peace sign, etc.) are not.

***NEW*** 9. Hair accessories and hair must now be posted separately.  A tiny bow or headband with your hair is OK - a hat is not.  If you're not sure, mail us before posting.

Please let us know if you have any questions!  If you are unsure about a design, send it to us for approval first, rather than posting it and having it removed.  If your design IS removed, do not repost until you ask us why.  If you would like to compile a list of categories you would like added, please feel free to do so and send it to us and Randomize.

The red "Report" button below blogs and images: Use it! Nov 30, 2010
If you see porn, homophobic or racist comments, or other inappropriate content in blogs or images, please be sure to click the red "report" button below it.  For those who don't know, the way this works is as follows:

1. User clicks "Report" on blog/image, selects a reason, and saves the report.
2. Each user has a set moderation level or number of "mod points" based on their behavioral record, previous efforts at reporting offensive items, and several other factors.
3. If you have enough mod points, the item you report will immediately be removed.
4. If you don't have enough (which is the case for most of tengaged at the moment), you will have to wait until your points are combined with those of other users who report the blog to reach a set total, which automatically removes the item. (i.e., several people will likely have to report the item for it to be automatically removed.)
5. When an item is removed, moderators are able to view the item and names of those who report it.  We will then give the poster his/her appropriate punishment and give all of the users who reported the item an increase in mod points.

This means:
1. The more you report offensive material using this feature, the higher your moderation level will become (unless you have other disciplinary issues) and the less people you will need to report items with you for them to be automatically removed.
2. Moderators do NOT receive reports on items through this feature until enough people click report for the item to be removed.  Therefore, if someone posts porn, you should click report, AND mail TM.
3. If inappropriate material is posted, we encourage you to ask your friends to report it as well with the report button (but still only one person needs to mail us).

Finally, please be aware that abuse of this feature (reporting items that don't violate tengaged rules) will result in a DECREASE in mod points and possible warning.

We appreciate everyone who uses this feature to help make Tengaged a better site.  Any questions about this feature?
