Dancing With The Stars S28 Power Rankings (Round 10)

Nov 25, 2019 by PowerRankings101
imageThe Finals are among us. Obviously, I’ll have a ranking up for those, but will predict the winner (and runners up) here and now. It’s a shame that James went home, and while I’ve been more of a fan of Ally these past few weeks, I am shocked that she got away from the bottom 2 a third time, and James, on his first appearance in the bottom, went home. Absolutely heart breaking. Anyways, here we go.

10. James Van Der Beek and Emma Slater (1st Dance)- James’ Cha-Cha was surprisingly the worst of the night for me (but his worst is often others’ best). He definitely seemed a bit disconnected. But I don’t think one can knock his pure natural ability. Sure, the dancing was abnormally sloppy compared to others, but it was still pretty good regardless.

9. Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson (1st Dance)- I think the tango was a weird dance to do to the song “Get Ready.” The tango just seems to rigid, and not fluid enough for this funky, spunky song. It was well danced, but there are many more dances this season that I’ve liked from Kel more than this one.

8. Lauren Alaina and Gleb Savchenko (2nd Dance)- This routine was somehow a bit more underwhelming than her first. I just think the choreography didn’t show off enough for Lauren to stand out. It was still beautiful, but for the semifinals, it was definitely one of the more forgettable routines of the night.

7. Lauren Alaina and Gleb Savchenko (1st Dance)- It’s just so cool to see the amount of confidence that Lauren has possessed lately, especially compared to the early stages in the competition. She’s turned into a truly powerful dancer, and had the night not been chalk full of phenomenal dances, she may have gone higher in the rankings. But this was excellent.

6. Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber (2nd Dance)- This was a ton of fun, but oh boy was it sloppy. Most of the time, people are looking at your upper body and face, rather than footwork, and there were lots of times that Ally’s arms seemed to be out of place or distracting. I think this was definitely overscored, and while it was well danced, I think we’ve seen better from Ally and better perfect dances from other contestants. This should’ve just gotten 9s.

5. Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten (1st Dance)- Hannah had a lot of great lines in this dance, and dug deeper into the performance yet again. It’s good to see her improving. I just hope it’s not too little too late, but judging by the fact that she’s the only one who hasn’t been in the bottom 2, I think she’ll be fine.

4. Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber (1st Dance)- This was a beautiful dance, and considering how harsh I’ve been early on about Ally’s sloppiness, this was an elegant change of pace. It was beautiful. It’s a shame more people aren’t voting for her, as she keeps landing in the bottom, but this proves that she is definitely deserving of a finals spot. Dang, I just wish it didn’t come at the expense of James.

3. Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten (2nd Dance)- Hannah emerged as the frontrunner tonight. She was the most consistent between two rounds of dancing, and I think Hannah is finally starting to dig deep into her routines and backstory. It was a beautiful routine.

2. James Van Der Beek and Emma Slater (2nd Dance)- Like I said, James seemed disconnected tonight, and for good reason. He hasn’t had as much rehearsal time. But this routine was carried on James’ natural ability and fighting spirit. Along with Kel’s contemporary was a special moment on the show, regardless of his actual dancing. Heck, his dancing was good. I don’t know why James is not in this finale.

1. Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson (2nd Dance)- This was a powerful moment on the show, and a dynamite performance from Kel. Kel’s fun stuff is my favorite, but this took the cake for me, in all its power, seriousness, spirit, and elegance. Best of the season.

Ally did great, but being in the bottom 2 THREE times doesn’t bode well for her going into the finale. I also think Lauren’s chances are a bit slim. I just think her dancing hasn’t necessarily stood out as memorable as others, and she is starting to feel like a third place finisher to me, who deserves a spot in the finals for her season’s work, but isn’t truly in the running for the mirror ball. This is Hannah vs. Kel, evidently. Hannah’s scores haven’t always been the best, but she has America backing her. And Kel’s voting has been great ever since he was in the bottom two in week two, and I think he’s easily the best dancer left now that James is gone. It will be a toss up, as maybe those who supported James will back Kel, or Ally even. Maybe Hannah has this wrapped up since she hasn’t been in the bottom. Maybe we’ll see Lauren actually win, and her bottom two with Spicey was just a fluke. Hell, maybe Ray will ask to rejoin the competition, and go on to Bobby Bones his way to the end. I could see literally anything happening. It should’ve been James. But now that he’s out, I think we’ll see Hannah take it.

PREDICTIONS:

Winner- Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten

Second Place- Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson

Third Place- Lauren Alaina and Gleb Savchenko

Fourth Place- Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber
