Sam going home is no surprise to anyone. But what about this next round? Let’s see how these contestants stack up before they start stacking some cake.
12. Renee Rice- Renee made a deadly meatloaf….it could have killed someone. Renee had a little bit of attitude, and her inexperience shows that she might just not be top 10 material. I don’t know, it might be the end of the road for Renee.
11. Subha Ramiah- Subha’s dish this week was excellent. Too bad his dessert sucked, and going into a dessert challenge, I can’t imagine Subha will do any good.
10. Noah Sims- Noah is so good on the grill, but how is he at desserts? He’s good when he has to get by, but can his dessert stand out amongst the ranks of actual pastry perfectionists and beautiful platers? I am not sure Noah’s somewhat questionable attention to detail will succeed here.
9. Bri Baker- Bri is great, but had a BAD week, so for that, she takes a plummet in the rankings. But I think desserts will help her get a little boost this week.
8. Wuta Onda- Wuta finally found a voice this week, getting to cook an all vegetarian dish for the first time. With a purely baking competition coming up, I can’t imagine Wuta goes home here. He doesn’t have to work with meat, which means it’s Wuta’s comfort zone. Good for him.
7. Shari Mukherjee- Shari found her way to the balcony for the second time this season, and I’m so happy she’s getting more of a voice and traction in this competition. She might still be far from a top contender, but I think she’s officially parted with Indian food and she’s on the right track to success.
6. Jamie Hough- Jamie could be in the same boat as Noah, but his whole journey has evolved around his growth, and his growth has been nothing short of inspiring. I’m rooting for him.
5. Sarah Faherty- Sarah continues to be really consistent, but the preview teases that she might be in trouble. I’ll keep her at a safe 5 spot this week.
4. Micah Yaroch- Micah made a squid ink dish that looked purely delectable. He earned his way into the top 3 this week, and I think he’s finally become the force to be reckoned with that we have all been waiting for since he won his apron early on.
3. Nick DiGiovanni- Nick bit off a little more than he could chew, but I think he learned from it, and impressed the judges still with his effort and attitude. He’s a good learner, and will grow from these mistakes, still making him a step above Micah for their young ages.
2. Fred Chang- Fred finally got his first win, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. I like Fred, and his dish was amazing, but we’ll have to see if he can actually top his dish. It’s a hard feat to pull off, but Fred is the type of person you want to root for to do it.
1. Dorian Hunter- Dorian is my number one, and I think it’s hers to lose. That impressive turn in the elimination challenge is the Dorian I’ve seen from the beginning, and I can’t wait to see dominate this competition. Dorian has come to play, and my girl is on the road to become the best MasterChef winner ever (okay, maybe a stretch, but I’m such a fan).
I could see Noah being a surprising boot this week, but I think Subha and Renee are the two most prone for elimination. They both haven’t really nailed desserts, and while Renee may be better at desserts than Subha, Subha has a better edit in the competition, and I think he’ll crack the top 10.
