Survivor S38 Power Rankings (Special: Edge of Extinction)

May 12, 2019 by PowerRankings101
imageI’m going to do something unique this week and have TWO separate power rankings. Because this is the finale, I want to really go in depth with the five remaining contestants, but since I have to rank so many Edge of Extinction-ers, I am going to rank them separately on who I think has the best chance to return and who I think has barely any chance to return.

11. Reem Daly- Reem is the Queen of Extinction. She has lasted the longest, and will probably fall shortest in the long run. But she’ll go down as a Survivor legend for this. If you ask about this season, she’ll be on the list of 5 people I think of off the top of my mind. She’s made her mark and I really hope they bring her back for a future season. While she won’t win any challenges, she’s still the strongest person on the season in terms of will-power and emotional strain. Well done, Reem, well done.

10. Ron Clark- Ron had his big moves and moments, but none of them involved winning challenges by himself. For that reason, I keep him this low, but I do think he was one of the best characters of the season, and I’d love to see him play again!

9. Julia Carter- Julia got a confessional this past episode, which makes me think maybe her chances aren’t as God awful as I expected. Still, her role in the season has been so small, I can’t really see her making a huge impact should she come back. She never won an individual immunity on the island, so I can’t really see her doing it this time.

8. David Wright- I don’t think any of the returning players will come back, but of all of them, David probably has the lowest shot. Gavin did say that David was a competition threat since he was always in the top, but he never actually won one. For this reason, I think David could still hold his own in the challenge, but he won’t win.

7. Dan “The Wardog” DaSilva- Wardog would have been a great returnee, but considering he’s gotten zero content on Extinction, I don’t see it happening anymore. I spoke last week about how edit didn’t matter, but when we got to see EVERYONE reading letters this week, and Wardog didn’t get to share much or any of his, I think it’s safe to say, his story is over.

6. Kelley Wentworth- Kelley never won an individual immunity challenge this season, so I don’t know if she can pull this one out, especially against threats like Eric, Chris, Joe, or Aurora. I just don’t see it happening. She told everyone about Lauren’s idol, so while she may not be able to stir things up in the game, I certainly think her information will send someone into the game with lots of dirt on Lauren, which could either help or hurt Lauren’s game. So while Kelley won’t be getting a shot at the million, she’s going to still make an impact on the outcome of the game.

5. Joe Anglim- This season was tailor made for Joe. All he has to do is win one challenge. One challenge. It’s Joey Amazing. He should be able to do so right? Then why is he this low on my list? Because since Joe has been voted out, I have forgotten he was a part of the season to begin with. If Joe was going to have this amazing comeback, and be in his first finale in THREE seasons, I imagine we’d be seeing a lot more of Joe in these past few weeks. We’ve seen nothing. I think Joe is going to come up just short.

4. Aurora McCreary- Aurora’s edit finally began to pick up toward the end of her run. If any of the women can make a run to come back on challenge ability alone, it would be Aurora. She was JUST voted out, so she has that fresh adrenaline and vengeance to come back. She’s also just incredible in challenges as is, except for word puzzles obviously, but I do think she’ll do well in the challenge. She may not win, because it would probably be the least exciting outcome for the game, but she still has a shot. A really good one at that.

3. Eric Hafemann- Eric had an emotional moment when he was voted out about not giving up for his kids. For this reason, I think he’s one of the top three contenders to come back. I think he’s good in challenges, so he should have no trouble in the challenge. But in terms of edit, I just haven’t seen much of his gameplay aside from getting out returning players. He made a big move on Aubry, but that seemed to be where his story started and ended. The only reason I have him so high, except for his challenge ability, is that he had an alliance with Victoria and Gavin until they voted him off, so it would be interesting to see that dynamic should he return.

2. Aubry Bracco- Aubry is the most likely of all the returnees to return from Extinction. Her game was cut short earliest, and she’s had the most time to meditate, grow, and prepare for this. I think she’s better in challenges than people give her credit for, and with that advantage, she’s going to have a head start above everyone else. I don’t know if she’s the number one contender, but because I predicted her to win the whole season on day one, I have to have faith that Aubry will have a shot in returning. If she returns, I hope she wins. If she doesn’t return, I hope she talks a lot on the jury, because I still think Aubry is one of the best of all time.

1. Chris Underwood- Chris is the guy I think will come back. I know he was voted out so early, but I truly believe he’s got a good shot to come back. He’s great in challenges, he has unfinished business with Rick Devens, and his edit has carried through since he was voted out. He talks about wanting to play a perfect game, and how he failed at that. I think Extinction Island has always been about how one overcomes their failures. I think Reem and Chris have had the most time to reflect, and the only difference is that Chris is absolutely awesome in challenges. Chris is never going to get that perfect game, but that doesn’t mean he still can’t play the best possible game for himself. I have Chris coming back, and making up for last time when Keith gave him a disadvantage in the challenge. Without having to untie all those knots, I could see Chris really pulling ahead of the rest.

STAY TUNED FOR MY FINAL 6 PREDICTIONS FOR THE FINALE!

I think Dave's got the best shot out of the returnees just because of his confessional where he said he was still "in game mode" and he has an unfinished arc with Rick Devens. However, I'm fairly certain Chris will SKI his way to the final 6
